We dont know if hes going to be charged as an adult or could be facing enhanced charges for a hate crime. We say that because the victim in this case is agender. He is a gender activist. Fleischmann was asleep on a you public bus when another passenger lit his skirt on fire. We spoke to the School Director in berkley this morning who says sasha is a straight a student, extremely agree gra glaruous and charming. Shes extremely liked. A hearing to review barts safety rules for workers are now focusing on one policy in particular. Sal has been monitoring todays meeting and joins us live. Reporter all those this meeting was called before the two workers died, the process of simple approval which is when workers are out on the tracks working and watching out for trains on the road, that process is now under intense focus. As a matter of fact, california state assemblyman says simple approval is in direct conflict with state law. California state law squarely puts the burden of safety on employers. Employers have to provide a safe working environment for their employees. Reporter last month Christopher Shephard and Lawrence Daniels were killed as they inspected tracks near the Pleasant Hill station october 19. At the time a trainee was operating the train because it was during the bart strike. Theres a conflict with cal owe sho and bart over barts Safety Records. The new Public Awareness project called eyes up, phones down aims to remind passengers to be aware of their surroundings at muni stations, stops and on vehicles. The sfmta and San Francisco police are also teaming up to deploy more rivers r officers on muni to increase overall security. Munis quarterly performance report is out and confirms what many already know. Muni buses still run well behind schedule. Just 59 of muni buses were on time in june and july. There was a slight improvement in august with 60 of buses on schedule. Thats lower than munis goal of 85 on time rate. Muni says the number of extended delays has dropped and more vehicles are being put into service. The Highway Patrol is still trying to figure out what happened before a woman was killed while running on a busy east bay freeway. The unidentified woman was in the lanes of traffic on westbound interstate 580 around 4 45 this morning in oakland. This is near the mcarthur boulevard off ramp. The chp says the driver called 911 and said he could not avoid hitting the woman with his pickup truck. What the driver of the car said was that the pedestrian was in the number two lane and for an unknown reason decided to sprint toward the Center Median directly in the path of his truck. The chp says the woman was killed on impact. The two left lanes of the freeway were shut down for about an hour and a half at the scene. A college in cupertino is warning students of a Sexual Assault on campus a. Female student told police the assault took place monday afternoon in a womens restroom at the schools media learning center. However, the student did not report the assault to police until yesterday morning. The student also told police she knows her attacker. The Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office and Campus Police are now investigating. A pervasive environment of Sexual Harassment and assaults by students. A federal investigation finds that west Contra Costa Unified School district officials have failed to adequately address these Serious Problems because of the findings the u. S. He was caught at a second check point after mexican authorities learned that he was wanted. More finger pointing in the San Francisco General Hospital case of a missing patient who was found dead 17 days later in a hospital stair well. Yesterday San Francisco sheriff announced the preliminary investigation shows hospital staff gave deputies faulty information. He says because of that, it took over two weeks to locate the missing patient. Twice during that conversation, the deputy was told that the missing woman was africanamerican and wearing a hospital gown. When a full search of the hospital was ordered, his deputies only searched about half of the stairwells. San francisco general has released a statement outlining its immediate steps. They include an independent review of security and facilities. Recommendations are expected in 30 to 90 days. Also Refresher Training is now being provided to deputies assigned to the hospital. A community Group Fighting to save San Francisco city college is suing the commission that is revoking the schools accreditation. Right now the save ccf coalition is holding a News Conference to announce the lawsuit against the accrediting commission for community and junior colleges. The organization announced this summer that San Francisco city colleges accreditation will be revoked next july unless an appeal is successful. The decision would force the schools to close.
