Batkid waved to him but then he saw from above the penguin kidnapping giants mascot and raced off to at t park. There batkid, batman and the penguin squared off. The good guys one. It was off to city hall to receive honors with thousands of people jamming the plaza. He finished treatment in june. Its been a long three years for us, and this is one one way to kick it off. A few members of the public and about a half a dozen Union Leaders from atu and got up to speak out. The union say bart signed off and even typed up this new provision and presented it to the union. Section 4. 8, and that gives workers six weeks of paid family medical leave. The union say that legal teams for both sides reviewed the language multiple times. That is what you paid for. We have a signed tentative agreement that we gave to our members that the district was fully aware of what it contained as we were fully aware of what their understanding was, and they are the same. New developments tonight in the case of a homeless woman who was brutally atakd. Tonight, a suspect is behind bars facing seven counts of aggravated assault. A big break in that brutal assault that was captured on video that we first showed you on ktvu. San Francisco Police tell us they arrested a man this morning who they say repeatedly kicked a homeless woman in the head as she was sleeping on the sidewalk. Ktvus David Stevenson reports police say that man has also confessed to the crime. The attack was sudden and vicious. A homeless woman seen on this surveillance tape first aired on ktvu is sleeping on a San Francisco sidewalk. The attacker, wearing a light colored shirt and dark shorts approaches stomp and beginning stomping on the womans head before calmly walking away. We didnt realize there was an assault until ktvu found the video. An fran police say a 911 call brought them to the site but investigators say the victim told them that nothing happened, and she left the scene. The investigation prompt by the video included tips that led to the arrest this morning of 28yearold chase of oakland. Police say he confessed to the crime. What did he tell the investigators . I dont have the exact nuances of what he said. He did speak to our investigators about the assault, about the crime that occurred. Chase is charged with seven counts of aggravated assault with force. Police say they located and reached out to the unnamed victim this week. I dont believe she is in the hospital. At this point, she is refusing services an estimated 27 of San Franciscos Homeless Population are women. It does show that the streets are dangerous for people to live on and really focuses on our efforts to get people to go into shelter. Timothy chase is being held in jail on a 350,000 bail. A San Jose Police motorcycle officer was injured to in an accident involving another vehicle. This happened about 11. 30 this morning near the intersection of north fourth and east empire street. The officer was seriously injured but is expected to sur vooe. Theres no word yet, though, on exactly what happened. The other drooefr is cooperative, and we are currently conducting an investigation to figure out how the collision occurred. Police say neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the accident. Toll lowing a power outage at that refinery. Its located east of interstate 680 near martinez and north concord. County Health Officials say the refinery was burning off flammable gas thad built up during a brief out auj. The dark smoke from the flair lasted about an hour. The burnoff did not pose a Serious Health risk. Tense moments for an American Airlines flight after a bird strike forced the plane to make an Emergency Landing. I hear a pop, see a flash and all of a sudden a big deceleration. You could feel the Engine Running down. It was stopping. This year there have been 46 bird strikes in san jose. 138 birds have been removed or relocated and 5,311 birdses have been dispersed using other methods like noise makers or pyrotech nicks. An oak loond teenager facing hate crime charges in the attack of another teen on board transit bus was back in court today, and his attorney is fighting to keep him from being charged as an adult. Cameras are not allowed in the courtroom. Supporters of 16yearold Richard Thomas attend this mornings hearing. The Oakland High School junior is being charged as an adult, accused of setting fire to a 18yearold luke was wearing while sleeping on an ac transit bus. Thomas did not enter a plea. His attorney described him as what overwhelmed. Remorseful. He has written some heartfelt letters to the family of the young man who was burned expressing his extreme regret over the entire incident. Police have said that thomas admitted to setting flashmans skirt on fire because hes moem phobic. Thomass attorney said the teen cant even spell moem phobic. There are members of his family who are gay. He has absolutely not a home phobic bone in his body. Ktvu spoke with a cousin of thomass who is transjend and her came to support the team in court today. Thomass attorney called the attack a prank, not a hate crime, and said hell fight to keep thomas from being charged as an adult adding the current charges could put him behind bars for the rest of his life. Thomass Attorney Says hes going to file a motion to have thomas charged as a jive nile. Thomas is set to return to court november 26th authorities in Southern California believe the bodies of four people are those of a San Diego County family who disappeared back in 2010. They have positively identified the remains of joseph and summer. They believe the other two bodies are the couples two sons, gianni and joseph, jr. Santa clara sheriffs investigators are looking for the person who shot and killed a man outside after a restaurant. Deputies found the victim lying on the ground in the parking lot of the sant fe taqueria. He had been shot at least once. He died at the scene. Investigators are hoping to find witness. Patty, this cannot happen soon enough for all those in the east bay. About 160 thousand people must be celebrating right now. I want to show you right now ter starting to clear the entrance of this tunnel, which as you mentioned, set to open monday, but just a few hours ago that was changed to tomorrow morning. Late night drivers should expect to see the third bore closed for several hours. Thats when the lane stripes will be repainted and the temporary barricades removed. By morning, two bores and four lanes will be open permanently. Reversing the flow of traffic manuelly twice a day during the week, sometimes more on weekends. And during weekends, during sporting events, sometimes as many as 13 bore switches a weekend. Thats all going to be eliminated. During todays Ribbon Cutting ceremony, speakers made light of the hours theyve lost because of the caldecott either because of bottlenecks or because of idling while the lanes are being changed. The Golden Gate Bridge District Board of directors voted today to charge north bay commuters to park at the ferry terminal. As ktvus mike reports, the 2 a day fee isnt sitting well with those people who take the ferry. All day long the golden gate ferry delivers commuters. You see for decades this parking lot used to be free. You can throw that into the water because starting in january, north bay commuters are gonna have to pull out the wallets and pay little cash to park. Im not happy about that. 1800 parking spots all filled usually by 8 15 every weekday, and starting in january, folks need to pay 2 a day monday through friday to park at the larkspur ferry terminal. 2 bucks every day for everybody on top of a 9 50 each way is you know, it all adds up. All adds up to 105 a week for one adult paying cash. We have very limited funding source. We dont have sales tax or general fund tax. Golden gate bridge district spokeswoman says the district, which includes the ferry is in a fiveyear 142 million short fall and needs to generate more revenue.
