What caused the flight 214 to crash is unknown. One report that the pilot told investigators he saw a bright light ahead of the plane before landing seemed to be down played by the pilot himself. He stated he did not think the light affected his vision because he could see the Flight Control instruments. Reporter the ntsb chairwoman sus the light was not discussed among the crew according to the voice recorder. What was reported was details of the approach with several mentions of the plane being above or below the path. The pilot said little about the speed of the aircraft until seconds before the impact. 500 feet landing checklist is completed. Theres no mention of speed until 9 seconds before impact when theyre at 100 feet. The ntsb showed this photo of a burned out section in the front of the plane. The firefighter said this looked pristine before the fire and all damage to the passenger seats and cabin was in the back of the plane that hit the ground first. The fire started after Passengers Evacuated caused by oil dripping on a hot engine. There was no jet fuel link. The engines, control services and electronics appear to be working properly according to the flight data recorder. Theres no behavior of the auto pilot, flight director, and of the auto lots based on the fdr data reviewed to date. M. , the jet passed right by the wreckage of the plane that crashed on saturday. Flight 214 has been arriving from south korea on the regular schedule ever since that crash. We have obtained never before seen photos taken moments after the crash. We are told that in this picture people were still on that plane when this shot was taken. You can see the debris scattered all over. In the distance you can see the planes landing gear. The of parts of the plane are on the right side of the screen may have come from the tail section. This is a closer view of that debris field. Again, pretty big pieces, possibly chunks from the tail. The run way is also covered from the debris up and down. You see in the background, united 747 in the background. Heres another in view of debris. This is one of the bigger pieces. Its unclear which part of the plane this came from. It appears to be the tail section. These are passengers loaded onto the bus from the crash site. They were taken to a secure area and evaluated and either september to the hospital evaluated and either sent to the hospital or reunited with loved ones. Christian is near the airport tonight. The airport is saying if all goes well here, theyre hoping to open run way 28 left as early as sunday. Reporter thats right. Crews have been trying to clear that wreckage. They will be cutting that plane into pieces to remove it from the run way. Run way 28 saw a flurry of activity today. Crews brought in an earth mover to assist in the clean up. If we could get this done by late sunday early monday wed be very happy. Reporter critical to the process is moving the massive airframe keeping it as intact as possible for investigators. Crews hope to bring in specialized equipment to begin lifting the plane tonight. The ntsb gave its plan to cut the plane in small her pieces and move it to a secure location at the airport. Pieces will be sent to washington dc for a closer look. The ntsb has turned over the run way to the airport. Investigators will be on scene as it has wreckage is lifted and moved to document the underside of the plane. The one location they havent had the opportunity to inspect so far.
