Thousands are going to gather for the aids walk. They say there is a new sense of urgency. We will talk about how warm it will be down there. It will be another warm day. I was in walnut creek yesterday. It felt nice but it was early. So, when we have these types of days where the temperatures reach 100 and go above, the Morning Hours are definitely some of the best times of day. Giving you a look at San Francisco, as we look across the bay. Temperatures are going to be just as hot as yesterday. We had anticipated, perhaps, a bit of a sea breeze coming our way. There will be winds that pick up later today. Because of that, heat advisory for some. High fire danger for others. Giving you a view at the advisories in place. Through 8 00 tonight the heat advisory. That includes the inner east bay. Very widespread into the sacramento and san joaquin valleys and we have it for the north bay. Having participated the sea breeze cooling us off over portions of the north bay but it doesnt look like it will happen, at least not today. Then we take a look at the reds. Due to the wind picking up this afternoon, we are looking at a red flag warning. That means heightened fire danger. Be aware. It will be hot, dry and for many it will turn breezy. 64 in oakland. 56 in San Francisco. To the north bay we have 58 in santa rosa and the inner east bay 67 to start the morning. Upper 60s in concord. Temperatures, well above where we started yesterday morning by 5 to 10 degrees. Warmer in fairfield. By 5 in oakland and 5 in san jose. A look out to the view up above, no fog to speak of. We had fog on the coastline. Not going to be the case today. It will be another gorgeous beach day. In the afternoon, winds will be picking up. Fairfield reporting a weak on shore breeze about 7 Miles Per Hour. The afternoon highs expected today, comfortable at the coast. 78 there. 80 in San Francisco. Mid80s to low 90s around the bay. Inland cities, the folks that reached about 100 degrees and just above yesterday going above it today. 104 expected for antiyoke. We begin an early antioch. We begin a cooling trend tomorrow. Many will be in San Francisco for the aids walk. Its the largest hiv Fund Raising Event in california. We have ku tvs allie rasmus there to tell us why they say there is a new sense of urgency. The people taking part in the event, people organizing it are watching closely what is going on a thousand of miles away from here, the Senate Republican Health Care Bill. It created a new sense of urgency for the people involved in the event to be more politically active. Giving you a look around at where we are. You can see the main stage. They have some of the tents set up. There is about 7,000 people registered to walk this 10k event. There is hundreds of volunteers. This morning all the people and most of the activity that you see around here are from the volunteers. The walk doesnt start until later this morning. I want to bring in ben fordham. So, this morning as you know, we are raising money for People Living with hiv and aids and to support their health and support them. And this year we are rallying against the Health Care Bill in the senate right now. That is a big important aspect of this morning. Part of what we are doing is creating signs that look like this. We will be handing them out and inviting people to write in their own message, a medical condition, hiv, diabetes, disease. Reporter what is the concern. The reality if it passes, it will strip away health care from millions of people. Many of those are people who are living with hiv, who need support and, you know, some of the services we are supporting today like the Golden Compass Program at ward 86, hiv positive over 50 access for medical care, anything like that that passes in the senate could jeopardize their ability to access the care. That is a lifeordeath situation for these People Living with hiv. Reporter particularly people with preexisting conditions, hiv, aids a preexisting condition. The concern is that it could lead to premiums going up or make health care unaffordable. Exactly. What we are doing is rallying together as we raise funds and rallying against efforts in washington to take health care away. So, whether your preexisting is a medical condition or inviting people to make moret tori call points, compassion, determination, hope, thats what we want to see in the meadow today and thats what i think we will see in the walk. The fire started at a home on north street after 10 30 last night. Flames spread to the house next door. It took nearly an hour to put the fire out at both homes. There are no reports of injuries but two dogs did die. Investigators will start looking for the cause of the fire later this morning. San Francisco Police are investigating a deadly shooting in the bay view district. Officers say it happened around 2 30 yesterday afternoon at keith street and palue avenue. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died. Investigators say they have no information about a suspect at this time or suspect yet and there is no word on what the motive might have been. Nine people went to hospitals after a collision involving a wrong way driver in eastern Contra Costa County last night. It happened in brentwood near the sand creek road to highway 4. Investigators say a car that was reported stolen slammed into a minivan carrying eight people including two young children. The crash happened after 8 00. It shut down highway 4 for nearly two hours. We had multiple trauma victims that went to trauma centers, two by helicopter and multiple patients by ground. There were two people in the car. One managed to get out on his own. The other was pulled out by fire crews and taken by helicopter to eden medical center. Officials say seven people in the car were hurt with the most serious injuries a broken leg. The youngest was air lifted to the hospital in oakland as a precaution because of the babys age. Chp is investigating a fiery crash in Pleasant Hill that injured four people. It happened around 8 30 last night on southbound 680 near the monument boulevard off ramp. A ktvu viewer shared with us video. The Nissan Altima swerved into a second car that crashed into a third car and the altima burst into flames. Two people in that car and two people in a second car were taken to the hospital. We dont know the conditions of those victims at this hour. Crews are working to rebuilt the oroville dam are making progress. The lower portion of the spillway has been removed and crews are working on the replacement. The spillway was badly damaged during heavy rains last winter. The department of Water Resources says there will be a functioning spillway in place by november 1 to handle the upcoming rainy season. The entire project could be completed by next year. Repair work set to start tomorrow on a stretch of road in Contra Costa County that washed away during a landslide in february when we had all the flooding. Part of Morgan Territory road near clayton will be closed  through midoctober while the repairs are being made. People in the area have had partial access to the road for three months. Many say they are frustrated it will be closed once again. This is a nightmare. My daughter has epilepsy. She had three seizures and i couldnt get to her because the roadways closed before. Now that these eye open, you know about 40 minutes walk each way in the morning and carry in your groceries. Everybody bought wagons. We bought a scooter, doing everything you can to get in and out every day. Traffic will be diverted to a temporary access road on leon drive during that closure. We are getting the firsthand look at a crop dusting plane that crashed in Sonoma County. Sheriffs deputies were called to the crash site. It crashed in a vineyard south of the community of kenwood. He made that announcement saturday. Senator john mccain is recovering from surgery for a blood clot. Without mccain they would not likely have the 50 votes to advance the legislation. President trump is applying pressure on republicans to get the bill passed. The senate Health Care Bill stops the obama care disaster, expands choice and drives down costs and i want to tell you the republican senators are working very hard to get something that is going to be really, really good. The opposite of the big lie which was obama care. An important report that could sway votes comes out this week. The Congressional Budget Office will release how much the proposed plan will cost compared to the Affordable Health car act. California lawmakers are leading an effort to extend the signature Climate Change Initiative Making a last minute appeal. Critics say the plan doesnt do enough to rain in polluters. Lawmakers are scheduled to vote tomorrow on bills that would extend the program. Californias cap and trade program puts a limit on Carbon Emissions and requires polluters to have permits to release greenhouse gases. The program will expire in 2020 unless lawmakers make action. Nasa said it didnt have the funding for a manned mission to mars. Nasa estimated the mission would cost about 100 billion over 30 or 40 years. Many are looking to private space flights. Elon musk said the cost could drop to 200,000 per person using reusable rockets. Would you go . On a reusable rocket . He hasnt had a lot of luck with those. I would let other people go first. We are warming at this hour than we were 24 hours ago. I will show you those numbers in a moment. A view across the bay waking up with a few patches of fog and haze this morning. Mostly sunny skies in the forecast today. If you are just joining us, a heat advisory that goes until tonight for our inner east bay yesterday and today but now included is the north bay. This is new. And the shades of red are the red flag warning. For areas above 1,000 feet, hot, dry and breezy. Those three combined increase fire danger for sure. Something to be aware of as you are out and about for the afternoon today. The north breeze has picked up some and that is what has lead to the red flag warning. For the today, expect it to be hot. Still tracking the monsoonal moisture. We wont see as much cloud cover as yesterday. If you look closely, you can see the Green Crossing over southern california. Again, nothing for us in the bay area. We will get into a cooling trend. It starts tomorrow. It doesnt mean it will be cool but better than today. Tuesday even better. Then we settle into comfortable weather, at least more comfortable than what we are experiencing today. A view at the extended forecast, temperatures fall off on monday. Comfortable at the coast and around the bay but the inland communities are quite hot. It will drop off nearly 10 degrees and be very hot. Tuesday, wednesday, thursday a little better with temperatures falling back into the low 90s. I think ice coffee most of the week. Two days of celebrating music and nature returned to Golden Gate Park. This is the third year where 12 pianos are hidden around the San Francisco botanical gardens. Martin holton takes us on a tour with great music. Reporter we have 12 pianos spread throughout the gardens for 12 days. [ music ] there are two gentlemen men that had this idea. They started placing the pianos in the san mateo coast and elsewhere. Then they came to us. This has become their largest endeavor. When i saw there was a few pianos you could play, i decided to make a day of it. Maybe i will come back a couple of times and do it a few more times. [ music ] its a form of meditation for me. I kind of space out and let the fingers do what they do. This is the best idea i heard in a long time. I played piano outside a couple of times only. When i do it, i am struck by it. Its cool. There is a push to provide some more Affordable Housing in San Francisco. We will tell you about the action taken by city leaders that could keep rent costs under control. April the bay area has seen a boom in business for one retailer, goodwill industries. The greater east bay chapter has plans to open nine new stores during the next three years according to the mercury news. The newest will open in walnut creek. That will happen this week on wednesday. The goodwill says it has to be careful to choose where to put its stores so they are convenient for shoppers as well as people making donations. Goodwill has lower prices than most other stores and unusual items that cant be found anywhere else and shoppers say they like the idea that they are helping people get trained for jobs when they shop at the Goodwill Stores. The city of oakland is adding 300 new jobs to the summer youth jobs program. Its called classroom to careers and they are in various fields including research, construction and working for nonprofits. This brings the total number of youth jobs this summer up to the mayors goal of 2,000. I hear over and over again that our young people want jobs and not just a paycheck. They want opportunities to explore what the world of work has to offer for them. They are available to oakland residents between 16 and 24. San francisco is taking action to create more Affordable Housing. The board of supervisors approved two housing measures. One says landlords have to prove that they moved into a property where a tenant was evicted and a landlord said they would start living there and the second measure called for large Housing Developments to reduce rates on a 5th of their condo units to be more affordable. The goal is to help teachers, firefighters and lower income workers have a better chance of living in the city. Supervisors considered a tax on vacant properties. Some feel empty commercial and Residential Properties add to San Franciscos housing shortage. One report in 2014 said almost 10,000 units were not being used at all. Earlier this year, vancouver, canada, adopted a similar vacancy tax. More than 7 Million Pounds of hot dogs are being recalled because it may contain bone fragments. It includes sabrett. They were produced between march 17 and july 4th. The items subject to recall are tapped est 8854. The recalled products have been blamed for one person being hurt. Two people from washington, d. C. Are suing cocacola. They claim they have deliberately deceived people about sugar sweetened beverages and the impact on health. They blame sugary drinks in part for a Rising Health epidemic. Studies linked it to diabetes, Heart Disease and higher death rates. Cocacola and the American Beverage Association are dismissing the merits of the lawsuit. The 31st annual aids walk starts in a few hours. Allie rasmus tells us why they say there is a sense of urgency for the walkers this year. Reporter we are at sharon meadows for the start of the aids walk San Francisco. This is the 21st 31st year it has been going on. The walking doesnt start until 10 30 this morning. Before that, they have a stage set up here. They will have a rally and speakers and they have hundreds of volunteers set up getting ready to get things going. You can see the volunteers have basically an Assembly Line of sorts for their passing of beverages, refreshments, juice and drinks that people taking part in the walk will take part of later on this morning. We talked to the event director. He said this year there is a sense of political urgency, activism they havent seen in years. That is because of what is going on in in washington, d. C. They are watching what happens with the Senate Republican Health Care Bill. The concern thats changes to the Health Care System could mean that people lose their Health Insurance or premiums are too expensive and definitely a concern about what could happen to people that have hiv and aids as a result of that bill. Two adults and a child pulled from the water after the boat capsized. A helicopter crew swam out and rescued the three. All three boaters were wearing life jackets. They were taken to stanford hospital for evaluation. A bomb scare yesterday. A husband and wife cleaning out their parents garage brought in a box filled with old ammunition and world war ii era rocket propelled grenades. They thought by taking the box to the Police Station that would be the best solution but instead it forced everyone out of the building and the bomb squad had to be called in. It is scary, someone carrying so much explosives through a public place. Not the best idea. If you find something that you believe is an explosive, ammunition, anything like that, leave it where its at, dont touch it, evacuate the area and call 911 and allow us to handle it. Do not put it in your trunk. In this case the bomb squad determined there was no explosive material inside the grenades. The couple didnt make any these they were just trying to do what was right. Officers say what they did was not advisable but no charges will be filed. A Stanford University mathematics professor was considered a pioneer in her field died after a battle with breast cancer. She is the first and only woman to win in mathematics. It is considered the same as the nobel prize in the math world. She was born in iran. She began teaching at stanford in 2008. She was 40 years of age. She is survived by her husband and daughter. Her death is front page news in iran where she is shown not wearing a hijab. The number of people in Contra Costa County dropped this year. They counted the number of People Living on the streets and in homeless shelters. They found 1600 people were homeless during that 24hour period, a 7 drop from the year before. The report found many of the Homeless People were dealing with Substance Abuse and Mental Health problems. Ed lee pledging millions to fund Meal Delivery programs like meals on wheels. Meals on wheels has been under threat of federal budget cuts since march when the white house proposed reductions in the block grant that helps fund the program. Meals on wheels says it prepares and delivers thousands of meals to the elderly and disabled in San Francisco alone. The mayor is proposing spending 19 million in city funds for Home Delivery programs with half of the money going to meals on wheels. I thought its best if San Francisco, our economy is strong enough, we ought to step up on this. I have a bad back. It helps me by the food coming in. Helps me where i dont have to prepare my own meals and sand in front of the stove for a long time. Meals on wheels says the program is Cost Effective. They say it costs about the same amount of money to hospitalize somebody for one day as it does to feed that person twice a day for an entire year. Shoppers in San Francisco are being told to watch their heads when going into the safe way store in the castro district. We caught this video at the star on market and church street. That boar guy. You could feel like you are on a spaceship. It will be built at Walt Disney World in florida where everything is. The no timeframe when it will open. It starts in the community where Everybody Knows everybody. Everywhere you go you see somebody you know on the corner. That was the cool thing about growing up there. I knew everybody. You wouldnt have expected that he would be 67, 275 right now. He is not only a gentleman, he is humble, very impressive to watch. One is the fact that 46 years worth of Baseball Players were coached by the same guy on what is now named bob amerman field, eight players were drafted or signed by major league organizations. 30 went on to play in four year college programs. One or two even ended up in the media. All got the same consistent message. I coached long enough to where i coached father and son. When the son went home the father said he listened to the coach, supported the community, supported the school. I could tell you stories about young people that wouldnt have made it if i didnt make sure they were in class. I had a player right here that is the leading hitter in all of Northern California. And i say the him down over there for two weeks. Mother never said one word to me. Finally he came to me and said, coach, how come im not playing. I told him why you are not playing. It changed immediately. This is the disciplinary here, the bench, all right. When it gets real bad you have to send them in. I only had to send in one or two in 46 years. Reporter he never needed to use that kind of discipline on judge. I still talk to him this day. He watches every game, at bat. He sends me clips or tidbits here and there. I cant thank him enough. He has really helped me mature as a player. Reporter that saturday afternoon at the coliseum on fathers day weekend turned into a hometown reunion. The community turned out and the pro manager got a chance to talk with the high school coach. I told joe girardi, he will never get you in trouble. Everything he does is just what you look for in a baseball player or an athlete. He could start at a tight end somewhere. Like i said to joe, he is number one. They dont come often. There are hundreds of volunteers getting everything ready, tents set up, food and refreshments, balloon and decorations. Later on we will see about 7,000 people walking in this event. This is the 31st year for the San Francisco aids walk. It has a long history in San Francisco. That history continues. We have the chair of the board of directors for the aids walk. What is different about the feel, the tone of this years walk compared to years pasted. Absolutely. Thank you for coming out. This year for the aids walk we are encouraging folks we are raising important and much needed funds for People Living with hiv and aids. We benefit a lot of organizations across the bay area. We are encouraging folks to come out and fight for what they believe in. With the current Health Care Bill in the senate, we are encouraging people we encourage people to talk about their preexisting condition. It may be hiv. It may be diabetes. It may be heart care. We are encouraging folks to come out and stand up for what they believe in in terms of the health care. Reporter so, what is the concern with the Senate Republican Health Care Bill and the republican plans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care act . What is the concern. We are concerned that folks living with preexisting conditions like hiv and other life threatening illnesses will no longer have health care coverage. The cost of living in the bay area is very, very high. Basic needs people have a hard time getting basic needs met like food, housing and health care. So, goes we are worried that if the bill gets repealed, then people lose their coverage. Today you are going to be kind of having these signs talking about it. You said the hope is to maybe get people motivated and organized, feel a sense of camaraderie around the issue . Absolutely. Personally i feel like people need to take positive action. That is what is engaging the community. Aids walk is about engaging the community. Allie rasmus live for us in San Francisco. Thanks. New this morning, firefighters remain on the scene of a threealarm fire at eastern contra costa fire. It happened after 10 30 last night. Flames spread to the home next door. It took nearly an hour to put out the fire. No reports of injuries. Two dogs did die in the fire. Investigators will start looking for the cause this morning. Nine people went to hospitals after a collision involving a wrong way drive in eastern Contra Costa County last night. It happened near the sand creek road offramp to highway 4. A car reported stolen slammed into a minivan carrying eight people including two young children. The crash happened shortly after 8 00 last night. It shut down highway 4 for nearly two hours. We had multiple trauma victims that went to trauma centers, two by helicopter and multiple patients by ground. There were two people in the car. One managed to get out be their own but the other was pulled out by fire crews and taken by helicopter to eden medical center. Seven people in the minivan were hurt with the most serious a broken leg. The youngest child was airlifted to Childrens Hospital in oakland as a precaution because of the babys age. A deadly shooting in the bay view district. It happened around 2 30 yesterday afternoon. Police say the victim was man taken to the hospital where he died. Investigators say they have no information about a suspect or suspects yet and there is no word on what a motive might have been. Well, the chp is investigating a fiery crash in Pleasant Hill that injured four people. It happened at 8 30 last night on southbound 680 near the monument boulevard offramp. A ktvu viewer sent us this video. The chp says a Nissan Altima entered of into swerved into a second car then burst into flames. Two people were taken to the hospital but we dont know their conditions. A firsthand look at a crop dusting plane crashed in Sonoma County yesterday afternoon. Sonoma county sheriffs deputies were called to the crash site. It crashed near highway 12, south of the community of kenwood. The pilot walked away and was not injured. An investigation is underway to find out why the plane came down. Repair work is set to start tomorrow on a stretch of road in Contra Costa County that washed away during a landslide in february. Put of Morgan Territory road in clayton will be closed through midoctober while repairs are being made. People in that area had partial access to the road for three months and many are frustrated that it will be closed again. Its a nightmare. My daughter has epilepsy. She had three seizures and i cant get to her because the roadways closed before. 40 minutes walk each way in the morning then at night and you have to carry in your groceries. Everybody bought wagons. We bought a scooter. Doing everything you can to get in and out everyday. Traffic is going to be diverted to a temporary access road during the closure. Crews working to rebuild the oroville dam are making good progress. The lower portion of the spillway has been removed. The spillway was badly damaged during heavy rains last winter. In february it failed forcing almost 200,000 people to be evacuated from their homes below. The department of Water Resources said there will be a functioning spillway in place by november 1st to handle the upcoming rainy season. The entire project could be completed by next year. The senate Health Care Bill stops the obama care disaster, expands choice and drives down costs and i want to tell you, the republican senators are working very hard to get something that is going to be really, really good. The opposite of the big lie which was obama care. An important report that could sway votes comes out this week. The Congressional Budget Office plans to release how much the proposed plan will cost compared to the Affordable Health care act. California lawmakers are leading in an effort to extend the Climate Change initiative. They are making a last minute appeal to cite six that say their plan doesnt do enough to rain in polluters. Californias cap and trade program puts a limit on Carbon Emissions and requires polluters to obtain permits to release greenhouse gases. It expires in 2020 unless lawmakers take action. Nasa may not have enough money to send astronauts to bars. The agency said it didnt have the funding for a manned mission in the next 20 years. Nasa estimated the mission would cost 100 billion bucks over 30, 40 years. Many are looking to private space flight to get the human race to the martian surface. This is the third year of flower piano. 12 pianos are hidden around the botanical gardens. Martin holton takes us to that event. [ music ] this is flower piano. We have 12 pianos spread throughout the botanical gardens, 55 acres for 12 days. [ music ] two gentlemen men had an idea. They started placing the pianos in the san mateo coast. They did it elsewhere then came to us. This has become their largest endeavor. When i saw there was a few pianos that you could play, i decided to make a day of it. Maybe i will come back a couple of times and do it a few more times. Its a form of meditation for me. I just kind of space out and let the fingers do what they will do. I think this is like the best idea i heard in a long time. [ music ] i played pianos outside a couple of times. Every time i do it, im struck by it. Its really cool. Amazing who comes out and what they play. Mostly its just completely spontaneous and organic. That is the true magic of flower piano. The city of oakland is adding 300 jobs to the summer youth program. Its called classroom to careers. They are in various fields including research and construction and working for nonprofits. It brings the total number of youth jobs this summer up to the mayors goal of 2,000. I hear over and over again that our young people want jobs. Not just a paycheck. They want opportunities to explore what the world of work has to offer for them. Jobs are available to oakland residents between the ages of 16 and 24. Applicants can log on to the citys web site for more information. A new report suggests the number of Homeless People in Contra Costa County dropped slightly. They counted the number of People Living on the streets and in homeless county. 1600 people were homeless during a 24hour period which is a 7 drop from the year before. That report found that many of the Homeless People were dealing with Substance Abuse and Mental Health problems. San francisco is taking action to create more Affordable Housing. The board of supervisors approved two housing measures. One says that lane lord have to prove that they moved in a property where a tenant was evicted and a landlord said they would live there. The second calls for large Housing Developments to reduce rates on a 5th of their rental units or condos to be more affordable to lower and middle income families. The goal is to help teachers, firefighters and other middle income workers to have a better chance of living in the city. Supervisors considered a tax on vacant properties. Some fear the empty commercial and Residential Properties adds to the housing shortage. One report in 2014 said almost 10,000 units were not being used at all, empty. Earlier this year vancouver canada adopted a similar vacancy tax. Coming up, dive bombing birds targeting unsuspecting pedestrians. The bay area neighborhood that has gone to the birds. Temperatures fall off as early as tomorrow. The cooling trend is coming up. Berkeley police say a 5 yearold girl reported missing on friday was found safe. The little girl Mayalyia Booker and her mother Laquita Davis were found in pittsburg. Davis is homeless and doesnt have custody of the girl. Police arrested davis. Sunnyvale department of Public Safety is back in the building after being evacuated for a bomb scare yesterday. A husband and wife brought in some old rocket grenades and ammunition. They thought that would be a good solution but that forced everyone out of the building and the bomb squad was called in. That is scary. If you find something that you believe is an explosive or ammunition like that, leave it where its at. Dont touch it. Evacuate the area. Call 911 and allow us to handle it. Well, it all worked out. The bomb squad determined there was no explosive material inside the grenades and the ammunition was safe. Police say the couple didnt make any threats, just doing what they thought was the right thing. Officers say what they did was not the smartest thing but no charges will be filed. Happening today, the 31st annual aids walk starts in San Francisco. Its the largest hiv aids Fund Raising Event in Northern California. A lot of people are in the city. Allie rasmus is at Golden Gate Park. Politics in washington are having a big impact on the walk. Allie . Yes, about 7,000 people signed up to walk in the 10k aids walk. 31 years it has been going on in San Francisco. Organizers say it has always had a political history. This year its different with what is going on in washington, d. C. I want to give you a quick view of the scene. You can see the tents out here, volunteers getting it organized and ready for the teams of people walking in the event. There is the balloon, is aids walk. That is the starting line right there. The walk will take people through Golden Gate Park. There is a stage where there will be speakers and a rally to get things going. On the hillside, this is where they will have a v. I. P. Breakfast. Laid out are sections of the aids memorial quilt. There is about 24 sections out here with the names of two to 300 people who have died from hiv aids memoriallized on the quilts. We spoke to one of the people this morning. He has been living with hiv aids for 25 years. They are watching closely and paying attention to what goes on and what happens with the Senate Republican Health Care Bill and the efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care act. The volunteer we spoke with said he uses medication, on medical and pays about if he didnt have insurance he would pay about 2,000 a month for his medication. He is concerned about what is going on in situations right now. Do you feel like it is a matter of life or death . It is. It literally is. Aids walk and fundraisers like this are really helpful to keep the hiv Services Going because those are also threatened. Congress has been trying to get rid of the ryan white care act which is federal funding for hiv services. And when that is pulled, a lot of these services that you see around here they will have to close up shop. The Health Care Reform and what happens to it is in the backdrop of the minds of people at this event. The organizers say they will have speakers out here this year talking about the Health Care Issue and a station where people can create signs, political signs specifically referencing changes, possible changes to Health Care Reform out here. That is what is in store for later this morning. The event has more of a political tone to it than it has in years past because of what is going on in situations. The walk gets started at 10 30 this morning. A Beautiful Day for the walk as well. Allie rasmus is live for us in San Francisco. San Francisco Mayor ed lee is pledging millions to fund Meal Delivery programs like meals on wheels. It has been under threat of federal budget cuts since march when the white house proposed reductions in the block grant that funds the program. They prepare and deliver thousands of meals to the elderly and disabled in San Francisco alone. So, the mayor is proposing spending 19 million in city funds for the Home Delivery programs with almost half of that going to meals on wheels. I thought its best if San Francisco our economy is strong enough, step up on this. I have a bad back. It helps me by the food coming in, helps me where i dont have to prepare my own meals and stand in front of the stove for a long period of time. He says the program is Cost Effective as it is. It costs about the same amount of money to hospitalize someone for a single day as it does to feed that person twice a day for an entire year. Two pastors from washington, d. C. Are suing coca cola and the American Beverage Association. It claims the organization has deliberately deceived people about sugar sweetened drinks and their health. Studies have linked sugary beverages to diabetes, Heart Disease and higher death rates. Cocacola and american beverage are dismissing merits of the lawsuit. The Ashley Madison adultery web site will spend millions to settle a lawsuit. The owner says the site will pay more than 11 million. The legal action was brought on behalf of 37 million users whose personal details were exposed in a data breach two years ago. A federal judge must approve the class action settlement. Ashley madison markets itself to help, primarily men, cheat on their spouses. Repairs to a stretch of road closed for five months begins monday. Residents in Morgan Territory outside of clayton have partial access to the road for the last three months now. The lengthy repairs bring more headaches to the community at times they felt cut off from the bay area because of a massive landslide. Reporter finally vehicles can travel through Morgan Territory road. It was february 24 when a massive landslide cut off access. Since then it hasnt been fun commuting through the heavily traveled area. Its a nightmare. My daughter has epilepsy. She had three seizures that i couldnt get to her. Its better now that its open. The area known for ranches and residents, they say the hardships were a throw back to the old days. 40 minute walk each day in the morning and then at night and you have to carry in your groceries. Everybody bought wagons. We bought a scooter doing what you can to get in and out every day. Reporter driving wasnt much better. With a traffic light timed to a five minute delay it added an extra hour to get to livermore or walnut creek. We can get in and out, get the vehicles in. A little delay but not too big of a hassle. I guess my take could be they could have done that from the beginning. We could have had that red light and saved two months worth of walking, three months of walking. A criminal case against ryan lochte has been dismissed by a brazilian court. Last year during the olympics he claimed he and two other swimmers had been robbed at gunpoint. He later admitted it was all a lie. Surveillance footage showed lochte vandalizing a gas station bathroom then being confronted by Armed Security guards. The court ruled that the robbery claim did not constitute the filing of a fake report, a crime punishable by 18 months in jail. You just met them. Firefighters remain on the scene of a threealarm fire in bay point in eastern Contra Costa County. That fire started just after 10 30 last night and flames then spread to the house next door. It took nearly an hour to put out the fires at both homes. No reports of injuries but two dogs did die. Investigators are going to start looking for a cause of that fire a little later this morning. San Francisco Police are investigating a deadly shooting in the bay view district. Officers say it happened around 2 30 yesterday afternoon at key street. The victim taken to the hospital where he died. Investigators say they have no information about a suspect or a motive just yet. Nine people went to hospitals after a collision involving a wrongway driver last night. It happened near brentwood. This was near the onramp to highway 4. Investigators say a car carrying two people slammed into a mini van carrying seven people, including two young children. The crash happened shortly after 8 00 last night. It did shut down highway 4 for nearly two hours. We had multiple trauma victims that went to trauma centers. Two by helicopter. Multiple patients by ground. Officials say seven people in the mini van were hurt. Most of them had minor injuries. Youngest child was air lifted to ucsf in oakland as a precaution because of her age. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was arrested on several counts, including felony dui and driving a stolen car. The cars passenger had to be pulled out of that wreckage by fire crews and was taken by helicopter toeden medical center. Doctors say he has major injuries but is expected to survive. Time now 9 05. A Nissan Altima swerved into a second car, which crashed into a third car. Thattal altima burst into flames. Two people in the nissan and two people in the second car had to go to the hospital. We dont know their conditions at this hour. Happening today, thousands of people are making their way to Golden Gate Park for the aids walk San Francisco. A Beautiful Day for a walk. The walk raises money for hiv and aids services here in the bay area. This year organizers say the tone is more political than it has been in years gone by. And off to the left you can see the line of people. This is the registration tent where people sign in to this event. Up here on the hillside, they have the aids memorial quilt on display. Or part of the quilt on display. Theyve got about 24 panels taking over the hill here with the names of 2 to 300 people. It raises money for San Francisco nonprofit organizations that help support people with hiv and aids and talking to organizers and participants this morning, there is definitely a sense of urgency and concern at this years walk. Because of the efforts in washington, d. C. To repeal and replace the Affordable Care act. A lot of people involved in beneficiaries. Some of the organizations are worried about whats going to happen to their healthcare. One of the beneficiaries is project open hand. It provides food and Nutrition Services for people with hiv aids. They help about 8600 people every year. The ceo of that Organization Says his clients are aware and concerned about whats going to happen with their healthcare coverage this year. You can see we have about 500 people come through the Grocery Center every day. You can see the tension. You can feel it when you walk in. How fast are they this morning . Youve got a couple hours under your belt. Well, the faster times are its a thousand meter race. If a boat can do it in three and a half minutes thats pretty good. It depends upon the age of the rowers and whether theres how many rowers are in the boat. Single is a little slower than eights. The best rowers will get it done somewhere under four minutes. Do you get a lot of people who have never watched rowing before coming down to lake merritt and saying this is amazing . This lady had her hands on her knees. She was taking deep, slow breaths. I got out, saw she was pregnant. That pregnant woman and her husband needed to get to the hospital because she was in labor. Simple uber drive and then it turns into a paramedic driver emergency thing and just your heart is pumping. I only got through two street lights before the incident. Just minutes into the ride he says her water broke. We get a couple blocks down. She started feeling pains and started screaming at the top of her lungs. Just saying call 911. Before they could finish the call with 911. Oh no, no, no. I thought i would have to get out, we would have to position her or something. Just lay her down in the backseat but it just like within seconds. Within seconds of her water breaking. The woman had the baby in the backseat at the intersection of riverside and cold water canyon. I dont know. Just something you want to get her there quick. I wasnt even thinking about my car or how dirty it it was or anything. Just make sure that baby is safe. The paramedics took the couple and their newborn to the hospital and now hes left with an experience hell never forget. This is a crazy situation. Ive never been in this situation.
