First we are learning that Brussels Airport will remain closed at least through sunday following the deadly bombing attacks on tuesday. Meanwhile, the manhunt is expanding in belgium for at least two people apparently involved. Joining us now is ktvu fox 2s christien kafton. Who are the two suspects they are looking for . Reporter thats the Million Dollar question. Five terror suspects in all. Two still outstanding. The hunt on for two people. Police searching for one man in connection with the airport bombing and a man they believe may have been an accomplice in the subway bombing. Investigators spotted an unidentified man carrying a large bag and traveling with a man who blew himself up at the train station. Also a suspect in connection with the airport bombing. Investigators say he is the third man in the video. That picture we have all seen so far in the light colored jacket there. Authorities believe he left the airport before the bombs went off and left behind a suitcase with 35 pounds of explosives in it. That bomb did not go off. It was detonated by authorities in a controlled matter. Authorities looking for two outstanding suspects. This morning a lot of people are saying belgium authorities not only botched their investigation prior to this. They missed an opportunity to prevent this attack. Yes. What can be done in the future to stop it from happening. Turkey expelled one of the suicide bombers from their country last summer but that suspect freed from the netherlands because there was no proof tying him to a terrorist cell. Also one of the gunmen was well known to authorities in belgium. Convicted and sentenced to seven time for opening fire on Police Officers while trying to get away from a robbery. Needless to say, he did not serve the nine years he was supposed to. Instead dying in that Suicide Attack on tuesday. According to britain, belgium was told by the European Union to address gaps in security a week before the attack. Now what can we learn to prevent it from happening in the future . As you said, the brother involved, he is one of the people who was involved in this incident here. Its two brothers caught, two of these brothers detained and known to authorities. So were learning more about these guys and we are learning that these guys certainly known to belgium authorities, under arrest, in and out of jail. Again its unfortunate that this might have been a case of opportunities lost by belgium authorities. Thank you. An unknown number of americans in belgium are unaccounted for this morning. A brother and sister from new york. They were visiting the region to see their father. And a couple from tennessee. Stephanie and justin schultz. They are also missing. They were at the airport dropping off stephanies mother. The state department told the husbands family that the couple was found alive at the hospital but the information turned out to be incorrect. We were hoping we would hear something immediately that stephanie and justin had gotten to their car or gotten home or had somehow gotten out of that airport. There are conflicting numbers of casualties. The Associated Press reports at least 31 people were killed and more than 200 injured in the airport and subway bombings. Cargo and private flights are now being allowed to fly in and out of the airport, but passenger flights are still prohibited through tomorrow. A family from davis is describing the frightling close all at the Brussels Airport. They landed 30 minutes before the bombing. The five members of the family were on the other side the security checkpoint when the blast happened a few hundred feet away. All of a sudden my son and daughter and wife came running in the other direction saying go, go, we have to get out of here. Evacuate. They were saying evacuate now. They were heading to uganda to work at an orphanage during spring break. They are heading to paris tomorrow by train. They are so grateful for all the kindness and generosity they have been shown bit belgium people. Yesterday morning here on the 9 we talked to a representative from the council for americanislamic relations about the fear of backlash among muslims following the attacks in belgium. Soon after Heather Holmes talked to a girl from hayward who says she has been bullied. A seventh grader says its been going on four years. The harassment she says is continuing because she is muslim. I told them terrorism does not represent me or my religion. Reporter her voice weak, her hands clinched h the 13year old said the bullying started in elementary school. Students, led by one this particular, picked on her for wearing the hijab. He started bullying me for a long time. Reporter in the fourth grade she stopped wearing the hijab hoping it would stop the verbal attacks. It didnt. Classmates still teased her and she said her complaints to teachers wasnt unanswered. They didnt do anything. I was being bullied. Reporter now in the seventh grade at Caesar Chavez middle school she says the insults continue. This time a teacher reported it and nikki, her mother and the chapter of the council on islamic relations met with school officials. Unfortunately, what we are witnessing is that is kind of falls on our youth. Reporter he is with care and cited several antimuslim incidents affecting young people and he fierce more amid the current political climate. Especially in the climate we have right now with a lot of the republican candidates making some dangerous and scary statements regarding muslims in this country. Add surveillance camera caught a tour bus out of control last november. The legislation would require businesses with 20 or more workers to fund the remaining 45 . As you can see, about 70 plumbers and pipefitters are picketing at tantau avenue near pruneridge. They say they are being paid substandard wages. This is peaceful protest and traffic is slow in the area, but not being obstructed. We have called apple for a comment but have not heard back. A mother is facing child endangerment charges. The one and twoyearold girls were found at pic San Franciscos st. Francis hospital yesterday afternoon. Police say Shaniece Jones took her daughters to a Fast Food Restaurant on monday and left them with the acquaintance. She didnt return to get the children when she said she would. The mother then reported the children missing to police. Well, police say the acquaintance brought the girls to the hospital. They were checked out as a precaution but appeared to be in good health. A federal judge in San Francisco has delayed the sentencing of chinatown crime boss raymond chow. He was originally to be sentenced yesterday. They wanted to wait until after posttrial motions. Those motions are due april 15. Chow, the head of a criminal enterprise, was convicted of racketeering, conspiracy, and murder charges back in january. And the commercial crab fishing season will finally open in the bay area on saturday. Fishermen can put out their grab pots tomorrow morning and bring them back in starting saturday morning. The season normally starts in november. It was delayed after a mauro toxin was found in the crabs. Crab fishing has been allowed since last month, but only south of point reyes. New information about a controversial arrest where two Alameda County sheriffs deputies were seen beating a car chase suspect. Ktvus Tara Moriarty with more. Reporter this was a 62page document released accidentally by the Alameda CountySheriffs Office. The people that represent Stanislaw Petrov in this case say its a blatant coverup. The document, they basically tell the perspective from the deputies. Deputy sant maria and weaver. They talk about the minimal affect my baton strikes had on petrov. They describe themselves as exhausted and daisy. They say he led them on a 40minute highspeed chase to San Francisco. It looks like a total coverup. We got the main officers who used high levels of injureious force, didnt write a report until four, five days afterwards. By then the video was out. They knew they were busted. Reporter now, whats more, the 11 deputies on the scene all said they failed to activate their body cameras. Department policy states turning the cameras is on optional. The Alameda CountySheriffs Office says they have completed a comprehensive review of the body camera policy. They are testing new Camera Technology they say, including systems that automatically turn on when the officer gets out of the patrol car. Now, the San FranciscoDistrict Attorneys Office has not filed any criminal charges against any of the deputies involved in this case, but we believe that those charges will be coming soon. As far as petrov goes, his attorney, he is suing for punitive damages and we understand that that suit has to be filed by april 12th. That would be six months after this beating occurred. That sign is going to go on highway 87. It is going to be named after officer Michael Johnson. You can see here in front of the Police Substation they have chairs set up for his fellow officers and his family members who are here. Its going to be an emotional day for them as they remember. Now, a couple of hours ago a group of Police Recruits honored officer johnson here in front of the Police Substation where the ceremony is being held. They had a moment of silence. Johnson died after responding to a call of an intoxicated suicidal man on the citys east side exactly a year ago today. The man shot him from a balcony in front of his fellow officers, and today a fivemile stretch of highway 87 between interstate 280 and highway 85 will be officially named the San Jose Police officer Michael Johnson memorial highway. I am joined now by deputy chief voneax. You were talking to me earlier about this day a year ago is etched into the officers minds. Do you remember it well . Yes. I was at mass at st. Josephs cathedral when i got the phone call that no chief officer wanted to get from the assistant chief. I remember feeling numb, surreal, shocked at the news that we lost one of our officers. Reporter and now a year later whats the feeling today . I mean, i know that was a dark day. A somber day. Today marks the oneyear anniversary that we lost officer mike johnson, and its a somber day. Its a day of remembrance. But today is also an opportunity for the community to show its deep gratitude for officer johnson and for his service to the residents of san jose, and thats with the dedication of the highway signs on the highways. Four bay area Highway Patrol officers are being honored for going above and beyond the cool of duty. They showed bravery and dedication while protecting the communities. Officer mia talked a woman off the bay bridge ready to jump t happened last month. He put a tow truck strap arou his waist, climbed over the railing, held the womans hand until she got off the ledge. Officer huey administered lifesaving support to officer serrenko. He is also being honored. And officer Joshua Nelson is being praise the for arresting 27 auto theft suspects last year and recovering 56 stolen vehicles. The ceremony will take place santa clara. Reports of an armed man at the Naval Medical center there. The Centers Facebook page says a staff member reported seeing an armed man. No shots have been fired. Security is investigating. Everybody there being hold to shelter in place. We have to say it again. This is not being described as an active shooter situation. There is only a report of someone seeing an armed man on the campus. From these aerial pictures you can see the campus itself is massive. This is in san diegos balboa park neighborhood. You can see officers on the scene and these pictures, the scenario may seem familiar. In late july there were reports of an active shooter situation at the same Medical Center. There was no danger there. Officers in that case did a search. Nothing turned up. No evidence of a gun or shooting. The situation today is still developing. We know the Medical Center is on lockdown as Police Search for an armed man on the campus. We will stay on top of it and bring you more today at noon. You need to use a restroom, you go looking for a restroom. That has turned into a heated debate in North Carolina that other states are likely watch. Ktvu fox anchor pam cook. Legislators called a special session over bathrooms. They passed a bill that bars transgender people from lockers and bathrooms that do not match the gender on their birth certificates. Republicans unanimously supported the bill. Democrats walked out in protest saying that this is a, quote, affront to equality and civil rights. The special session was in response to the Charlotte City council passing a law allowing transgender people to use Public Restrooms based on their gender identity. The reaction has been emotional. Transgender students talked about how hard this road has been for them. Republicans say the ordinance violates religious freedom and puts women and children in danger. It allows grown men to share bathrooms and locker facilities with girls and women. Reporter people are people are going to be like, why is there a boy in here and cause a scene like they did when i was younger. Reporter turns out the language in the bill covers more than restrooms. It prevents local governments from going against the state in writing any antidiscrimination ordinances. Many people criticizing the governor and legislators. Dow chemical is a big employer in the state of North Carolina and has a policy in place that allows transgender access to bathrooms based on gender identity. Not the birth certificate. Welcome to the bay area. Thank you for having me. You gorgeous. Isnt he . Thank you. [ laughter ] my goodness. Come on. This is your first time in San Francisco . First time. Its my first time. And i get to see you. You scared me. We dont use your government does that go back to your Small Business . Yeah, that go to my small tell us about that. My Small Business, i went to jail. So how did you get involved . Why were you involved . I had two kids at 15. You needed money . I would go places and try to get jobs and they say where is your work permit. Its hard to say, hey, this is my work permit. People didnt understand it. I turned to the streets to survive. You said that you actually ended up getting out of the life. Can you tell us what the life is and how you got out . Selling drugs. I started i got on welfare and got married and my husband started to talk to me. A case worker thought i was funny. I never thought i was funny. She is like you should tell people these stories. I started googling black comedians and i found richard pryor. So i started telling people about my story. I went through some stuff. Your children are old enough to be embarrassed or horrified. So do they say dont tell that again. No, they are like tell it, mama. I tell everything. I try to tell everything. I see the funny in everything. Thats what i try to tell people when they see me. No matter what you been through this life, find a way to laugh at it. Thats how i heal. I didnt sit on a couch with somebody who charged me 200 an hour. I started to laugh at the pain. Eventually you took a step onto the stage at an open mic night . Yes. Tell me your emotions on that particular evening, that afternoon if it was a matinee. I was with a girlfriend. I was like if i dont make the crowd laugh, we are not going to tell anybody. I told a story about my brother who broke in cars when he was younger. Everybody laughed and i was like i could do. I dont have to get up early in the morning. I can do what i want do. If i dont about want the gig, i dont have to take it. And i was tired of being fired add mcdonalds for talking bad. When did you do that . When i first got out of selling crack. Small business. Playing around. Miss pat, not everyone can be a comedian. Do you think telling the tore sees, you know, i should tell my stories because that way i feel better . Yes. When my mama pass away i had a grudge because i was like she never protected me. I told these stories and i felt free. You hold all of this stuff in you. You know, you may not like somebody and you got this bundled up in you. I dont want to live like that. I tell people let it go. Get off your chest. I say what i want to say. I am on tv, i cant say it here today. But i dont bite my tongue for nothing. Can i ask you about, you hear from women in comedy, can i ask you about the current scene of comedy . I grew up with carol burnett. Amy schumer. What has it evolved. And has it evolved enough . No, that is a mans world. They say, oh, we all its all about, you know, man barbying or women talking about. I talk about everything from being married to selling drugs to jobs, the way i feel about my kids, the way i feel about whats going on in the world. I have a lot of things to talk about. They say we are not funny. I am funny. You are. Are you a strict parents . We are all parents up here. Yeah. Look, you dont lock the door at my house. So yeah. My son, look, i make my kids work. I tell them go get a job. My son work at my favorite restaurant, chickfila, so i can get a discount. 20 . And my daughter work at burger king. There you go. Oh, good. So i try to you know, i tell my kids all the time you dont know how blessed you are because you didnt have to go through what i went through. And me being a 15yearold parent i struggled. I dropped out of high school in eighth grade. My daughter went off to college. Nobody been in trouble. Thank god. And i have one getting ready to graduate next year. I said it wasnt easy getting here. It wasnt easy for me to provide the way i do for you. I busted my butt. It makes you stronger. Its easy for them. The older ones dont remember the difficult times. They do. No food from the fridge. I had it good. I had money. They just remember hard times like, you know, the relationship i was in. I was in an abusive relationship. They remember the street stuff. My daughter was there when i got shot. She can repeat everything that went on that day. How old was she . Five. Wow. She was there when i got shot. She was telling the police, i know who shot my mama. I am like shut up, i am gonna shoot them back [ laughter ] i am happy. If you want do a warmup, you can come to my house.
