There are some locations down 20 degrees compared to this time yesterday. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. More of a cooldown for the weekend. 7 02. So you said friday medium. Is that still about right . Yeah. There have been no major problems driving through. The traffic continues to look good if you are driving on the rest of the south bay commute. A little bit of slowing on 101, on 280 near 17, and on 85 near 17. But for the most part if you drive this every day, you will notice it is lighter than usual. 880, the same thing. You will notice slow traffic between hayward and union city but the volume is not there. Dumbarton bridge traffic is light. Today is a lighter than usual friday on 80 westbound as well. This is a look at the san mateo bridge. Looking okay heading out to the highrise. 880 oakland also looks good. At the bay bridge toll plaza, you will see that the traffic is backing up a little bit. It is backed up for 10 to 12 minutes. Back to the desk. Thank you,. A Million People are expected to celebrate pride weekend this weekend. With the attacks overseas, security here is a big concern. The castro is the epicenter of the celebrations this weekend. Members of the Lgbt Community say pride is a time to celebrate who they are and how far they have come. I have been in the city for 20 years. Came from atlanta. I felt the most impactful thing about moving here for me and being gay was to be able to see a guy two guys or two women walk down the street and hold hands any day of the week at any time. Reporter we watched this morning as the city crews were preparing for the pride celebrations. Barricades for the parade and other activities. San francisco is working on Security Issues that may face the Lgbt Community as they celebrate pride this year. All time off has been canceled to make sure that there are as many officers out on the streets as possible. They will be working together as a team to make sure that pride is as safe and fun as possible for those who attend. We will be doing screening again like we did last year. We want to remind everybody we will do bag checks. There will be items not allowed into the celebration site. We will be utilizing all sorts of resources that the city has, whether its cameras, whether its people spotting from different vantage points in the city. The county clerk says more appointments are being made available for those who want to get married today. Walkins will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Here is a look at the pride events. The installation of the Pink Triangle on twin peaks is 7 00 tomorrow morning. The celebration at Civic Center Plaza begins at noon tomorrow. The parade starts sunday morning 10 30 on market street. As pride weekend is about to start, california is banning nonessential travel to four more states that have laws that discriminate because of the sexual orientation. The states have been add today a list that already include north carolina, kansas, mississippi. There are exceptions to the rule for Law Enforcement and to honor existing contracts. Fresno state has asked a ruling from the state whether it can travel to the university of alabama for a Football Game this fall. The time is 7 07. A 17yearold girl died last night. She fell off a cliff in San Francisco. It happened in the lands end area near china beach and the legion of honor. The teenage girl was with her friends when she slipped and fell at least 50 feet down on to rocks. The rescue teams out there raced to bring her body out of the water and to an ambulance. She had multiple injuries and fractures. She was barely breathing when we got to her. She made it all the way down she fell all the way down to the water. Because of the rising tide out there, the rescue teams had problems getting to her. Reportedly they pronounced her dead in the ambulance. The states power grid is under pressure because of the recent heat wave. In the bay area along, pg e says 100,000 customers lost power this week. The power grids need to cool off which usually happens in the evening but not in this heat. It has been from distribution transformer outages. Those are the cylinder looking pieces of equipment on top of power poles. New transformers are lined up in fremont at pg es Distribution Center. Because of cooler temperatures from the fog, we didnt see any record demand for power yesterday. Pg e says customers may have conserved more energy. Animals are also in danger because of the heat. In santa clara county, precautions are being made to make animals and their owners indoors. In fact today pets are allowed during Business Hours at county libraries in gilroy, morgan hill, saratoga, cupertino, los altos, campbell and milpitas. Also horse racing will resume today at the Alameda County fair. Opening day was scheduled for yesterday but canceled because of the heat. Officials were worried about the health risks of the horses and the jock hes. It was the first time in the history of pharaoh owe getting up close and personal that the popular horse races were canceled. The horses that were scheduled to run yesterday will compete at a later date. Also dont forget today is another spare the air day. The second day in a row. The latest incident happened yesterday at a foster city costco on metro center boulevard. Four people entered the building, broke a display case with hammers and took off in 30 seconds. One of the people there was armed with a gun. This comes after two similar smash and grab robberies happened at the danville costco last month. They went for a jewelry case and took off. A man fired a gun during the second robbery when an employee tried to intervene. No arrests have been made in the case. A vote on the Senate Republican Health Care Bill may be days away. We will talk about the opposition it is facing from democrats, medical groups and even some republicans. And concerns about security and possibly terrorism. The vote set to happen today involving the running of upcoming San Francisco marathon on the Golden Gate Bridge. Its not a bad commute. New this morning, investigators in london revealed it was a refrigerator that sparked last weeks highrise fire that killed 79 people. Combustible materials on the exterior of the building have been blamed for the quick spread of the flames. Also announced that the materials failed safety tests. Investigators are now looking at every company that may have been involved in building that highrise. They are considering filing manslaughter charges. In paris, four people are hurt after an open roof tour bus hit a it up he will today. There were 20 people aboard the bus and one Person Injured is in serious condition. Republicans are making what could be a final push in the senate for an obamacare or Affordable Care act replacement. And a vote may be just days away. Democrats are mounting their opposition. Well, this is the Senate Republican health care plan, considerably shorter than the original obamacare bill. No democrat is going to support this. The bigger question is republicans. Earlier the president would also tell fox that he has his eye on four republican holdouts in particular. They are four friends of mine. I think that they will probably get there. We will have to see. These are the four. Republican senators who looked at the Senate Version of the Health Care Bill yesterday and didnt like what they saw. A plan that would ease taxes and penalties but allow for reduced coverage in medicaid payments to states. Were afraid when we read the bill, it looks like a reiteration or keeping of obamacare. The way to get to yes is fix the underlying problems. Lower premiums and i will happily be part of it. On the other end of the opposition spectrum, president obama writing on facebook it would raise costs, reduce coverage, roll back protections and ruin medicaid as we know it. Some republicans see this as a final chance to follow through on a 7year commitment to repeal and replace obamacare. Both sides agree that something needs to be done to fix the program that many insurers are fleeing. It would be wrong for the senate to actually address these problems in a serious way while the law they have defended for seven years teeters, literally teeters on the edge of total collapse. And the other question is how much is this going to cost . We should find out next week from the Congressional Budget Office the impact this will have on the budget. In washington, doug luzader, fox news. Thank you, doug. Several medical organizations say they dont like the Senate Republican Health Care Bill. The American Academy of pediatrics says it could hurt children by scaling back medicaid. Other medical organizations say it may leave millions with no Health Coverage. May lead to hospitals reducing services or even closing. The American Medical Association still reviewing the plan but says it strongly opposes limits on medicaid spending. Also aarp says the bill would allow Insurance Companies to charge older adults up to five times as much as younger adults. The group is also raising concerns about cuts to medicaid. That would put millions of Senior Citizens at risk of losing the care that they need. The aarp represents about 38 Million People over the age of 50. It is calling on every senator to vote no on this bill. President trump says he did not record his conversations with former fbi director james comey. On twitter, the president said, quote, with all of the recently reported surveillance intercepts, unmasking and illegal of information, i have no idea if there are tapes or recordings of my conversations with james comey but i did not make and do not have any such recordings. After the president fired comey last month he warned on twitter that comey, quote, better hope there are no tapes of our conversations. The time is 7 17. I can just tell that it is not that deep. And you can look at the 880 ramp just to give you a clue about that. Traffic is moving slowly in some of the lanes. On 880, you dont see a huge backup. Sometimes when it is really bad, you see a big backup. This morning, thats not there. This is 880 near oakland coliseum. You can see traffic is moving well in both directions. The san mateo bridge traffic also is moving although it is crowded. But it is moving well out to the peninsula. In the south bay, Silicon Valley commute, we have some low slowing here and there but definitely lighter than usual. Also on the peninsula, the traffic looks good. No slowing on 280 or 101 in and out of San Francisco. 101 northbound after the 280 interchange a little bit of slow traffic approaching cesar chavez. 7 18. Lets bring in steve with todays weather. It is expected to draw some 15,000 people. A trueness portraying District Board will vote on the proposal. Officials say it is because of concerns following recent terrorist attacks overseas. Under the plan all northbound lanes would be shut down for three hours. Two southbound lanes would be converted to handle the northbound traffic. The time is 7 25. B. A. R. The start of a significant cooling trend. If brentwood is 68 at this hour, that tells me that most everybody, ukiah up into lake county, it might be a tall order until tomorrow. There is an on shore breeze. There is a lot more fog today. This satellite picture doesnt do it justice. Another observation shows 74. The theme is 50, 60s on the temps. These are running about five to ten degrees cooler than this time yesterday. Fog is not disappearing this time. It will stick around. 60, 70s, 80, 90s. We will start off with a look at the east bay commute. You can see that traffic is moving along okay coming around the berkeley curve, around the corner and to the bay bridge toll plaza. We dont have any major problems here. Not a bad looking commute. Golden gate bridge traffic looks good as you head out to the toll plaza. I think i went out of order here. Because i want to go back to the bay bridge and mention that. You can see that traffic is moving along a little slowly. It is not too bad though getting into San Francisco. This is a look at 880 northbound and southbound. A nice drive in both directions. The south bay commute is getting a little lower. From highway 17 into cupertino. 85 is slow. So is 101. It is still not the same as it would be on lets say a tuesday. 7 33, back to the desk. Thank you, sal. Ktvu has obtained exclusive video of an attempted robbery on saturday night that turned into a double homicide in brentwood. It shows the burglars walking up the driveway of the home wednesday night. The thieves confronted the homeowner in the garage where there was a large safe. They ordered him to open the safe, not knowing there was a loaded gun inside. The homeowner grabbed the gun and shot both men. He is always in the garage. He is sitting in there watching television, just chilling. The garage is open im pretty sure. Once he opened the safe, he pulled the gun out and started firing. The two men who were killed were both in their 30s and from antioch. Their names have not been released. The homeowner is not being charged with a crime because he was acting in self defense. We expect cooler temperatures this weekend but bay area firefighters will stay on high alert. Yesterday in vallejo, firefighters battled the extreme temperatures to save homes from a fast moving grass fire. The flames spread quickly up a hillside, went right up to the backyards of several homes in the glenn cove neighborhood. Four of the homes were damaged. But firefighters got there before it was too late. I consider that were blessed. We have all of our stuff in tact. None of our things burned up. And were insured. Yeah. Two firefighters suffered minor leg and ankle injuries. The fire was caused by a jeep that caught fire at the carquinez bridge toll plaza on the eastbound side of interstate 80. Well, car bust and racing fans are converging in the east bay. Because nascar has taken over the race far. The 350 is on sunday. A lot of activities start today. Alex savidge is track side. But the sonoma raceway is a unique course because it has so many of these tight turns. Ten turns per lap. Each lap just shy of two miles. Todd, talk to me about what makes this course so special for drivers like yourself. Yeah. Just the aspect of the right hand, lefthand turns. Usually the oval racetracks we go to only have four turns and it goes to the left. This is definitely the most fun that you will have on a racetrack. The main event we know is under, the toyota save mart 350. It will be dale earnhardt, jr. s last race. I know he is the sentimental favorite going into that. Tomorrow youre taking part in one of the other races which is the 200. Okay. Are you feeling good about that race. Yeah. I feel really good. Were the points leader in the series. I feel like our car is really well prepared. Is this one of your Favorite Places to come . You cant beat the scene reas we scenery shot outside of the front window. Yeah. Everything out here is really nice. I just want to let everyone know that the nascar fans are here and they are here in big numbers. Wade was found guilty in 2013 of attempted murder for a drive by shooting in mill valley and stealing a lamborghini. On wednesday the First District court of appeals in San Francisco reversed the attempted murder sentence saying he should have had a hearing on whether to be tried as an adult or juvenile. He is currently serving a sentence of 20 years to life. His Attorney Says if he is resentenced as a juvenile, he might serve just three more years. Police in palo alto searching for a man who allegedly exposed himself to two girls wednesday afternoon in two separate incidents. Here is a sketch of the man they are looking for. He was in a parked car and he yelled out to a girl. He had no pants or underwear. Then he drove away. 30 minutes later a than with a similar description drove up alongside a 16yearold gilroying her bike. He didnt say anything but exposed himself to her as well. Again, here is the sketch. The man is described as white in his 20s or 30s driving a white or silver fourdoor sedan. Bill cosby is planning a series of town hall meeting this summer to educate men about the dangers of the judicial system. Prosecutors plan to retry him in the Sexual Assault case. Two representatives say the entertainer will tour the country to teach Young Athletes and married men how to avoid Sexual Assault allegations. Advocates say cosby is trying to influence people who may be jurors in the next trial. The Ford Motor Company is offering a new option in San Francisco for people who want to rent bike. However smaller bike rental companies worry they will lose business. Ford go bike recently unveiled a new go pass. It allows Riders Unlimited threehour trips within 24 hours for 15. The target audience is supposed to be commuters. But the smaller Bike Rental Company says that ford is also going after the tourist market. Now that theyre targeting the visitor market, we feel that is encroaching on our livelihood. We dont want the Ford Motor Company and motivate to do to our mom and pop bike rentals what uber did to the taxi industry. Now, next week ford go bike plans to eastbound panned its fleet from 700 to 7,000 bikes all across the bay area. Bay area home prices are break being record breaking records again. The median home price is 750,000. That is up 7 from last year. Media prices are already more than 1 million in marin, San Francisco and san mateo counties. A 17yearold girl died last night after slipping and falling off of a cliff in San Francisco. It happened in the lands end area. The teen was with a group of friends when she lost her footing and fell at least 50 feet on to some rocks. Rescuers raced to get her out of the water. She had multiple injuries and fractures. She was barely breathing when we got to her. She made it all the way down she fell all the way down to the water. Rescuers say they had trouble reaching her because of the tide. Were told that she was pronounced dead while she was being transported by medics to the hospital. The states power grid is under pressure because of the recent heat wave. Pg e says in the bay area alone 170,000 customers lost power this week because of failed transformers. The transformers need to cool off and that usually happens in the evening but not this week. In santa clara county, precautions are being ma i had to keep animals and their owners indoors. Republican senators who looked at the Senate Version of Health Care Reform released yesterday and didnt like what they saw. A plan that would ease obamacare taxes and penalties but also allow for reduced coverage and medicaid payments to states. Were afraid when we read the bill it looks like a reiteration or keeping of obamacare. The way to get to yes is fix the underlying problems. Lower premiums and i will happily be part of it. Reporter on the other end of the opposition spectrum, president obama writing on facebook, it would raise costs, reduce coverage, roll back protections and ruin medicaid as with he know it. But some republicans see this as a final chance to follow through on a 7year commitment to repeal and replace obamacare. At a time when both sides agree something needs to be done to fix the program that many insurers are now fleeing. Democrats say it would be wrong for the senate to actually address these problems in a serious way. While the law they have defended for seven years teeters, literally teeters on the edge of total collapse. Reporter and the other question is how much is this going to cost . We should find out next week from the Congressional Budget Office the impact that this will have on the budget. In washington, doug luzader, fox news. Several medical organizations oppose the Senate Republican Health Care Bill. The American Academy of pediatrics says the bill could hurt children. Other medical organizations say it might leave millions without Health Coverage and lead to hospitals reducing services or even closing. The American Medical Association is still reviewing the bill. But it says it strongly opposes limits on medicaid spending. The aarp says the bill would allow insurers to charge older adults up to five times as much as younger adults. The group is also raising concerns about cuts to medicaid, saying it could put millions of seniors at risk of losing the care they need. Aarp represents some 38 Million People over the age of 50. It is calling on every senator to vote no on the bill. Authorities are investigating another smash and grab robbery at a costco in the bay area. The latest incident happened yesterday at the foster city costco on metro center boulevard. Four robs entered the building and broke the display cases with hammers and took off within 30 seconds. A witness says one of the robbers was armed with a gun. This comes after two robberies at a costco in danville last month. In those robberies they broke into a jewelry case and took off. In one of the incidents, a robber fired a gun when an employee tried to intervene. One person has been arrested for the first danville costco robbery. The other people are still on the loose. The and morning san mateo bridge commute looks better than it usually does. As we look at the south bay, there is a crash northbound 85 near saratoga exit. Traffic is slow here. Reporter Golden Gate Bridge officials are considering closing all northbound lanes of the bridge for the upcoming San Francisco marathon. The popular race is set for july 23rd. It will draw 15,000 people. The board is scheduled to vote today on a proposal. Officials say the idea to close the lanes is based on security concerns following recent terrorist attacks overseas. Under the plan all northbound lanes would be shut down for three hours starting at 6 00 in the morning. Two southbound lanes would be converted to handle the northbound traffic. Amazon has applied for a patent ton a plan for giant drone delivery towers. They would be futuristic hive like looking structures. They would be used in urban areas because amazon wants to put the Fulfillment Centers in cities. Robots inside of the hives according to the patent would move goods around and help maintain the drones. It doesnt necessarily mean that the towers will be developed but it suggests that amazon is committed to drone delivery. And traffic is slowing down from about highway 85. But fortunate for you, you can use 280 instead of one. That is a decent alternate route. Getting past that crash in palo alto. In vallejo yesterday firefighters battled extreme temperatures to save homes from a grass fire. Flames spread quickly up the hillside to the several homes in the glenn cove neighborhood. Four homes were damaged but firefighters got there before it was too late. Weve got our lives. So i consider us blessed. Were really blessed. We have all of our stuff intact. None of our things burned up and were insured. Firefighters suffered minor leg and ankle injuries while fighting the fire. The fire was started by a jeep that caught fire at the carquinez bridge toll plaza on the eastbound side of interstate 80. Temperatures of 113 are expected today in phoenix, arizona. It has been so hot that visits to the areas main burn center doubled during the heat wave. The injuries include contact burns after touching hot cars or walking on pool decks or other surfaces without shoes. New this morning, investigators in london revealed it was a refrigerator that sparked the highrise fire that killed 79 people. Combustible materials on the exterior of the building have been blamed for the quick spread of the flames. Those materials failed safety tests. Investigators are now looking at every company that may have been involved in the building of the highrise and considering filing manslaughter charges. Ktvu has obtained exclusive video of an attempted robbery wednesday night that turned into a double homicide in brentwood. Footage from a neighbor shows the two alleged robbers walking up the driveway of a home on birch street lane wednesday night. The thieves confronted the homeowner in his garage where theres a large safe. They ordered him to open the safe, not knowing there was a loaded gun inside. The homeowner grabbed the gun and shot both men. He is always in the garage. He is sitting in there watching television, just chilling. The garage was open im pretty sure. Once he opened the safe, he pulled the gun out and started firing. The two men who were killed were both in their 30s from ante antioch. The homeowner is not being charged with a crime because he was acting in self defense. Police in palo alto are searching for a man accused of exposing himself to two girls in separate incidents on wednesday. Here is a sketch of the man theyre looking for. In the first incident he was in a parked car and called a 12 yearold girl walking her dog nearby. She was able to see that the man had no pants or underwear. Then he drove away. About 90 minutes later, a man with a similar description drove up alongside a 16year old girl riding her bike. He didnt say anything but exposed himself to her as well. The man is described as white in his 20s or 30s driving a white or silver fourdoor sedan. Bill cosby is planning a series of town Hall Meetings this summer to educate men about what he considers the dangers of the judicial system. A pennsylvania judge declared a mistrial last week in his Sexual Assault case. Prosecutors plan to retry him. Two representatives for cosby say the entertainer will tour the country to teach Young Athletes and married men how to avoid Sexual Assault allegations. Advocates for sexually abused women say cosby is trying to influence people who may be jurors in the next trial. A teenager was killed in Southern California after a bullet fired by a sheriffs deputy ricocheted when deputies fired at an aggressive pit bull. It happened around 4 00 yesterday morning in palmdale. Deputies were responding to reports of loud music in the area when the dog lunged at them. The bullet hit the ground and ended up hitting the 17year old boy. One of the deputies was also hit. The pit bull was euthanized and the incident is now under investigation. A veteran Los Angeles Police officer was arrested accused of having sex with a teenage police cadet who was suspected of stealing police cars and going for joy rides. The chief personally handcuffed the 10year police veteran accused of having sex with a minor. Investigators say the teenager used the name of a sergeant who was on vacation to sign out the car that contained stun guns and police radios.
