For the coast, after the fog, it burns off a little sooner. 60s, upper 60s, 70s, 80s through the interior. Where do you want to start, sal . Bay bridge. A lot of people want to know what thats doing. This morning that commute and the bay bridge doing normally. That means its backed up. Its a 15 to 20minute delay before you make it onto the span. The san mateo and dumbarton bridges are looking good when it comes to that. Look at 880 north and southbound. You will see that traffic here is moving along okay north and southbound 880. But a little bit farther south, southbound 880 begins to slow at 238 and its pretty robust. Its a slow traffic jam, really, all the way down to freemont near stevenson. 680 is finally beginning to see a little bit of recovery, but it has been a terrible commute from dublin down through the pleasanton area to the sunol grade. Its behind schedule. Plan accordingly. 7 02. Back to the desk. Thank you. A live picture from San Francisco. This is live right now. We are in San Francisco. This is where the Early Morning fire in the south of market district has been burning this morning. You see the very latest fire crews still out there. The ladder still there. The crews are mopping up from that twoalarm fire right near the San Francisco chronicle building. The crews were called to this fourstory vacant building shortly before 5 00 this morning. The area has both commercial and residential buildings in this area. You can see how narrow the streets are. We are just finding out this building is owned by the hurst corporation. It was being repaired. It was going to be used by a Nonprofit Organization selected by the hurst family. Well, obviously, those plans are delayed now that this fire has caused damage through the building. When units arrived on scene there was a lot of fire activity to the top floors. This fire quickly went to a secondalarm fire. Rescue companies were able do a rapid and aggressive search of this building. They were not able to locate any victims, which is good news for us. Now, you saw the fire crews are still there. They are not sure how much longer they will be at this fire. As you heard sal say, and has been saying all morning, that area along 5th street and 6th street near Mission Street and minna, you should avoid it if you can because there is a lot of activity going on. Fire investigators will start to look for the cause of the fire once they are able to really get inside that building. 7 04 this morning. 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is speaking out about his controversial decision to sit down during the National Anthem. Kaepernick has refused to stand during the National Anthem at all three 49ers preseason games to shed light on Race Relations in the country. Ktvus alex savidge live at levi stadium in santa clara with more on how kaepernick is defending his actions. Alex. Reporter gasia, good morning to you. Despite the controversy surrounding his political protest, Colin Kaepernick says that he will continue to sit during the National Anthem. He says he is fighting for social gist. There is a lot of things that need to change. Once specifically is Police Brutality. There is people being murdered unjustly and not being held accountable. Cops are getting paid leave for killing people. Reporter reporters at length yesterday, he spoke to them to explain his controversial protest. His refusal to stand for the National Anthem so far during the preseason led to a closed door meeting of 49ers players yesterday. It happened before practice here at the teams headquarters in santa clara. The message was to let the other guys just understand what he was feeling and where he was coming from. Again, that personally we could approach this how we are going to approach it, but be knowledgeable about his stance. We know colin. We support colin. We dont think he is a bad teammate just because he decided to voice his opinion on such a strong topic. But we just cant allow this to divide our team. Reporter now, kaepernick says his decision to stay seated has been a Long Time Coming prompted by years of witnessing how people of color are mistreated. He says he has been racially profiled by police in the past. Kaepernick made it clear that his protest is not meant to disrespect the men and women who serve our country in the military. Now, the league has also weighed in on this subject. The nfl issued a statement that essentially says, players are encouraged, but not required to stand for the National Anthem before football games. Of course, Colin Kaepernick realizes, he acknowledged yesterday there likely could be a backlash from fans, especially as the 49ers hit the road. They will be playing this thursday night down in san diego. Gasia, we will have to see how fans there in that city react to Colin Kaepernick. Again, he plans to continue to stay seated during the National Anthem. Right. And alex, over the weekend we saw videos on social media of people burning their kaepernick jerseys in reaction to what he did. Reporter right. Yeah. The reaction was, obviously, quite strong from some fans. Obviously, there were some fans out there who supported his actions and believed and or believed he has every right to take whatever stand he wants to do. Certainly there will be a segment of fans in the nfl who will react strongly when kaepernick visits their stadium. It will be interesting especially to see how things play out when they go to visit the San Diego Chargers later this week for another exhibition game. Thank you. New york giants offensive lineman justin pugh made it clear where he stands on the kaepernick controversy. Before his game yesterday he tweeted, ill quote, i will be standing during the National Anthem tonight. Thank you to all that put your lives on the line for that flag. The owner of the nbas Dallas Mavericks is publicly supporting kaepernick. Mark cuban sent out this tweet saying, quote, he didnt throw a bomb, fire a shot, start a riot, throw a punch, shut a business, yell at someone, troll anyone. He just sat there quietly. 49ers fans have mixed reaction to kaepernicks refusal to stand for the National Anthem. Some fans are considering boycotting 49er games, while others applaud kaepernicks stand on a controversial political issue. Here whats some 49er fans said at a sports bar in santa clara. This is right. As an american, you dont have to stand up for national we can do it sometimes. Sometimes we dont feel comfortable. We can be quiet. If you really want your voice to be heard, then thats a good venue, i guess, to do that. But again youve got these kids that look up to these athletes, and if theyre going against their country and so i am not sure its setting the best example. Kaepernick is the latest athlete to take a stand on a hot issue. Earlier this month the Dallas Cowboys wore special decals on their helmets during Training Camp honoring the five Dallas Police officers culled in july. And last month players in the wnba wore shirts supporting the black lives Matter Movement that said change starts with us. His decision is drawing a lot of reaction this morning. Join the conversation with our question of the day. How do you feel about Colin Kaepernick choosing to remain seated during the National Anthem . Let us know what you think. If you drive from vallejo and try to get into San Francisco, its taking you more than an hour. Thats just the way its going to be. We are looking at some of the other commutes around the bay area. I do want to mention that 880 southbound is going to be slow from about Marina Boulevard heading south. 680 is recovering a little bit, but its still very slow out of pleasanton on the way to freemont. So the inland temps, which in june and july were very warm, have come down as well in august. San jose for them not to get a 90 is not that uncommon. Thats when some of his supporters clashed with protesters at a rally in san jose. And donald trump will also lay out his plans for Immigration Reform this week, trying to pull in minority voters. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is trying to lock down a big lead in the polls while dealing with more fallout from her familys foundation. Reporter doug luzader live in washington this morning with the latest from the campaign trail. Doug. Reporter good morning. And you remember when donald trump first announced that he was going to run for president , he really made Immigration Reform his signature issue. He took a very hardline approach to it. Now that approach may be softening, but its not entirely clear what his current position is. He will try to make it clear later this week. Donald trumps recent twists and turns on immigration may reach some kind of a resolution this week. Yesterday on twitter he announced he would outline his plan on wednesday during a speech in arizona. But his policy is so unclear. Would he, for instance, still try to deport millions of Illegal Immigrants . His position is going to be tough, fair, and his position is going to be humane. Friday she got good news from the state department which is trying to release the delay and appointed lie of her schedules as secretary of state until after the election. Both candidates, meantime, preparing for their first debate now less than a month away. It is going to be difficult because you are going to have to prepare for many different trumps. Kind of like well behaved, modest trump. I doubt we will see that. You know, kind of off the rails trump. A trump who doesnt prepare for anything, and apparently, based on reports, thats how they are doing it. I think they are nervous of the clinton camp because he is the unpredictable x factor. She is the scripted statist Hillary Clinton that, you know, that basically needs to memorize lines. Reporter and there may be some truth to that. In fact, the Clinton Campaign is acknowledging that they are having to prepare for just about anything knowing that donald trump could, in their words, end up going for broke to try to turn around recent polls, seeing these debates as a prime opportunity to do that. In fact, i could put up the map and show you just how slow it is driving down on 880 getting down to this area. Lets go ahead and put that map up. Can you see its slow even past 92 and heading down towards the hayward and union city area. Some people may have been avoiding 680 on the sunol grade and coming through on the 238 and getting over here. 680 happily has improved a little bit. Now a lot more work will be needed before it can be used by anyone. A move that outraged many fans across the country. One angry fan even burned kaepernicks jersey after the quarterback refused to stand during the anthem for all three 49er preseason games to date. Kaepernick said he wanted it shed light on Race Relations in the country. Ktvus alex savidge joining us outside levi stadium in santa clara with more on how the quarterback, alex, is defending his actions. Reporter yeah. Hey, good morning to you, mike. You know, some critics believe that kaepernick showed disrespect to the flag and to members of the military by refusing to stand during the National Anthem for the first few preseason games. Kaepernick, as he spoke to reporters yesterday, said that was certainly not his intention. He says his only goal with this political protest is to raise awareness about the ways people of color are oppressed in this country. Ultimately, its to bring awareness and make people realize whats really going on in this country. There are a lot of things that are going on that unjust. People arent being held accountable and that needs to change. Reporter he told reporter yesterday he is fighting for social justice. He says specifically he is angry about issues of Police Brutality here in the u. S. The controversy over his refusal to stand for the National Anthem it led to a closed door dealing of the 49er players yesterday before Team Practice in santa clara. The 9ers are hoping this doesnt become too much of a distraction. The message was to let the other guys just understand what he was feeling and where he was coming from. Again, personally we can approach this how we are going to approach it, but be knowledgeable about his stance. We dont think he is a bad teammate because he decided to voice his opinion on such a strong topic, but we just cant allow this to divide our team. Reporter now, kaepernick said his decision to stay seated has been a Long Time Coming prompted by years of witnessing how people of color are mistreated. He says he has been racially profiled by police in the past. Now, the league has weighed in here. The nfl says its players are encouraged but not required to stand for the anthem. And kaepernick says he will continue to stay seated during the National Anthem. The quarterback knows there could be a backlash, especially as the team heads out on the road. They will be playing down in san diego. A big military town this thursday night for another preseason game. We will have to see the reaction he gets before that game. Mike. All right. Alex savidge live there outside of levis. Several nfl players have reacted to kaepernicks stance. His former teammate alex boone said, quote, that flag obviously gives kaepernick the right to do whatever he wants. I understand it. At the same time, you should have some respect for people who serve. Especially people that lost their life to protect our freedom. Former nfl quarterback and espn analyst Matt Hasselbeck said easy way to make sure you are not the starting quarterback on opening day. Hashtag september 11. Arian foster tweeted, the flag represents the freedom to choose to stand or not. Thats what makes this country beautiful. He said he understood 100 what kaepernick is doing. Now, Colin Kaepernicks decision to remain seated during the National Anthem is getting mixed reaction from 49ers fans as well. Some are considering boycotting 9er games while others applaud his decision to take a stand, if you will, on a controversial political issue. We will talked with 49ers fans at a sports bar in santa clara. I dont think that his views represent the teams views. I think its his own personal views. Its not really the appropriate platform for Something Like that. Its his right as an american. You dont have to stand up for the National Anthem. We can do it sometimes, and sometimes we dont feel comfortable, we can sit and be quiet. He is not disturbing anybody. He is the latest to go public with his views on a social issue. Earlier this month the Dallas Cowboys wore decals on their helmets during Training Camp to honor the citys five Police Officers killed in july. Also last month wnba players wore black lives matter shirts stating change starts with us. And the decision is drawing reaction this morning.
