Theyre going away. Next week traffic should be lighter as people are going away. At the bay bridge toll plaza it is backed up for a 20 to 25 minute delay. It wont be an easy day getting out of the city today. Its definitely a little lighter on 880 between 92 and 84. Slow traffic there. On the peninsula, no problems trying to get to the airport. Streets have turned into shrines for the victims. The french government de announced that one more victim has died. That brings the death toll to 130. Theres currently a campaign by a group of musicians and artists encouraging paris residents to turn on all lights and play music loudly signifying that they wont be defeated. Security no doubt will be on the minds of a lot of travelers heading to airports starting the thanksgiving holidays. Jeanine is live at the san jose airport talking about security changes out there. Good morning, jeanine. Reporter good morning, dave. Yeah. More police are patrolling the terminals and outside. In fact we just saw an officer with a k9 Walking Around the area. I want to show you a live look. It has thinned out right now. Were in a slow period. It was busier earlier today. This is the alaskan counter. Check out southwest. A good time to come is right now because it was a lot busier earlier. Something about security that i want to mention. Officers have their eyes peeled. Earlier there was a man Walking Around here who was barefoot. He looked suspicious. And immediately three officers approached him. It turned out he had a ticket. They thought he was homeless or trying to cause trouble. They are on top of it. Lets go to video of what it looked like outside earlier. Travelers started arriving at 4 30 this morning. Airport Officials Say passenger trough being here at the san jose airport is expected to be heavyhanded i theyre estimating a 5 increase compared to this time last year. Travelers we spoke to this morning tell us they feel safe flying. Theyre not really concerned too much about any aftermath of the paris terrorist attacks. I kind of right now back out here live with somebody who is about to be traveling. Youre from seattle. And you said youre not afraid to fly. Any second thoughts at all when you were leaving . Not at all. The probability of an Automobile Accident on the way to the airport is much higher than any sort of issues with terrorist attacks on airplanes. One of the things that police are reminding travelers during this sort of holiday rush is if you see something suspicious, say something. Is that something that you think people forget about . Do you still think, be vigilant, especially when traveling . Thats always a good idea. I guess things like packages left unattended or something. Yeah. Would you report or do you think sometimes its fine. I should. Im not sure that i would. I would probably first assume that somebody got up to go to the bathroom and left their suitcase there. But i might suggest i probably would attempt to tell someone that looked official, hey, what do you think of that package there. Thanks so much. Have a safe flight. Thank you for talking to us. Were inside terminal c as i mentioned. Lets check out what it looked like outside with cars and cabs pulling up. A little busier. But still not too bad at all as far as passenger traffic. So thats what it looks like out here at the san jose airport. Im sure the crowds at least right now at sfo are also big as well. It looks like a good flow out there right now. You took us right there. Jeanine dell vega. Thank you. Walnut creek Broadway Plaza is opening some of the stores this morning following a long renovation project. Then someone who maybe lives near you, works close by and so on. The idea is to help save commuters time and money. Next week we have should later than normal conditions. But the volume is a little better than it normally would be. For example if we were comparing this to tuesday, i think you would see a big difference. Moving along and taking a look at interstate 880. It is slowing northbound past the coliseum. Shouldnt be a problem getting to the airport because the airport exit is before this. If youre coming in northbound, its not all that bad yet. And were also looking at the peninsula. Southbound 101 slow passing san bruno out of san mateo. All in all, not too bad getting to sfo. I advise you to leave plenty of extra time. 7 50. Lets go to steve. Thank you, sal. Here at home, San Franciscos push to reduce pedestrian deaths and make safety improvements on the streets is being praised by mayor ed lee. Christian has been in San Francisco since 4 00 this morning. We should find out more today about the success of vision zero and its future. Reporter yeah. We are waiting to learn more about how vision zero has worked so far, what some of the accomplishments are and how things are looking. Lets give you alook at one of the hot intersections. Bay and buchanan. This is the site of that terrible accident last week that left two boys injured. The driver in that case arrested and accused of dui. You can see this intersection there are temporary stop signs out here. Over the course of the morning, we have seen numerous people blow right through the stop signs out here. And let me tell you, it has been chilling to watch. Now, since weve been here this morning, we have seen car after car blow through the temporary stop signs, screech to a halt in the intersection. All kinds of stuff. Throughout city as part of the vision zero campaign, new Traffic Signals have been added and redesigned traffic flow patterns in the city. The mayor hoping to eliminate traffic related deaths by the year of 2024. 30 people are killed on the streets of San Francisco each year. Mayor lee says many of the changes are ahead of schedule and he will talk about the future of the projects in city. We spoke with a woman out walking her dog who told us especially when its this intersection, she is concerned when she crosses the street. It can be. Maybe especially here because theres no stop sign. So i dont really feel comfortable crossing here. I usually go up to the light. Reporter now, again, that woman telling us she is happy to see the stop signs here. Coming back to the mast cam, you can see that the cars are now stopping. That has to do with the fact that drivers can see other vehicles stopping in front of them. So that makes them think that they should stop too. When traffic was lighter and cars were going through the area, you would see car after car either blow right through the intersection or stop in the middle of the intersection when they realized that the stop signs were here. As a matter of fact, i got pretty incredible video on my iphone and post touchdown on my facebook of a red mustang blowing right through the intersection here. Didnt even slow down. Theres a speed bump down the road. Theres all kinds of ways trying to slow traffic in this area, especially since its right near in rain amiddle school. Very interesting. Christian, from what i can see, there is no Police Enforcement of the stop signs today, is there . Reporter well, thats part of what pedestrian advocates say. Yes, a lot of it has to do with slowing cars. But you also have to have the enforcement. Officers need to make sure that people follow the speed limits and stop at stop signs out here. Thats one of the issues here, that we havent seen anybody actually stopped for blowing through this intersection here so far. Okay. Christian captain, thank you this morning.
