When you have freeways like i80 that travel east to west, west to east youve got that wind right up against the side of your car. So especially for the high profile vehicles you may experience some difficulty driving out this morning. Novato reporting 15 miles an hour. Even the bridges. The san mateo. Youve got if going right up your car. 54 degrees in oakland. Right now 48 in novato. In the south bay 53 to start your morning. In san jose well take a look at more numbers on the peninsula. Its an overturned truck here in morgan hill. You can see that traffic is going to be affected on the ramp but the freeway traffic seems to be okay. This truck is on its side. Its a nursery truck and you can see the traffic in this area theyre not letting anybody to get by. This is going to be here for awhile and if youre using bailey onto 101morgan hill you might want to reconsider and go to a different onramp. It looks like the driver got out however, there is a diesel spill that theyre trying to contain and thats whats going to take a little while here. 6 03 lets move along and take a look at some of these other commutes. Im going to put it up on 280 northbound in san jose. As we look at the east bay commute not a huge commute right now as you drive on 580. 680 it looks pretty good and were looking at oakland. So the freeway systems look pretty good. At the bay bridge toll [ applause ] theres a backup of about 50 minutes before you make it on to the bridge. Lets go back to the desk. An investigation is under way in san jose. A fire destroyed a home early this morning. People are now looking for a new place to stay as investigators look for the cause. We have ktvus rob malcolm joining us live now from that scene. Rob, good morning to you. Reporter good morning alex and pam. You can see some of the debris that was taken out of this home. Some of that obviously suffering from water damage. You see from the home here where the fire scorched the front of this house. This actually looks like a Single Family home but its actually a duplex. There is a family behind this which is also a total loss as well. Fire crews responded here at about 12 22 this morning. To 919 south 11th street. Once they were on scene they found both units fully engulfed. Crews were able to knock this fire down in just under a half an hour. As a precaution houses nearby were also evacuated as crews tried to stop those flames from spreading and the fire crews did remain on scene for some time just to put out some of the hot spots and the cause as we told you earlier is still under investigation but we did talk to a nation resident who lives directly next door. Heres what he told us. Its a mess. Like how bad is it from back there. Its terrible. My fence is down back in the back back there and this is burnt up and i havent checked my roof. My shutters are messed up. All of this side here and it blew my window out. Still have to get to the top of my roof and see whats going on there. Back here life. Robert harrison just told me he returned home from a trip to vacaville. He says hes lucky he does have insurance. The bad news is three people that live in this home have been displaced and fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause. Were live in san jose well send it back to you. Thank you, rob, for the update. A 38yearold man under arrest this morning after accused of setting a fire to a plant nursery. Tuesday nights fire destroyed five greenhouses at the mountain mushroom farm just outside half moon bay. After examining that seen and talking with witnesses investigators identified Gilbert Flores as the suspect. Flores was already in custody in connection with another case. Investigators have not said anything thus far about what the motive may have been. Well theres some new information about this weeks disastrous fire in oakland. City leaders now say a candle set off mondays fire in oakland that killed four people. Investigators have determined the deadly fire was an accident which started from a burning candle that was inside a room. The person had no electricity. A fire safety inspector had just inspected that Building Three days before the fire. The debris from the deadly ghost ship fire may be headed to alameda. May now be moved to a site at alameda point. Stockton is another possible location. Earlier the judge had ordered that the debris be preserved as potential evidence in the wrongful death lawsuits stemming from that fire back in december where 36 people were killed. A man is facing murder and attempted murder charges in connection with wednesdays triple shooting in San Francisco that killed an innocent bystander and wounded two others. Police arrested 24yearold Jonathan Santos just minutes after the citys investigation. Investigators say he fired into a crowded street and killed 65yearold long ci woo as she walked to a bus stop. A goodhearted, giving person. So she was a giver. She smiled all the time. Thats the one thing everybodys telling me about her is that she smiles. A 40yearold san jose man and a 51yearold San Francisco man were also shot but they are expected to survive. Their injuries. Investigators have not revealed a motive for this shooting but say that particular area has been the center of a turf war between rival gangs. Now on a gofundme page that was set up for woos funeral her nephew wrote she was like a second mom and cared selflessly for our grandfather. An attorney for president Trumps National security advisor michael flynn. Flynn was a top advisor to the campaign during the election and was later fired after failing to fully reveal information about his contacts with the russian envoy. The circle widens for the people who dont know if theyre the target of an investigation, any time you hear someone say ill testify for immunity it means potentially somebody can be ratted out. Wind gusts reached up to 84 Miles Per Hour yesterday. The National Weather service issued a high wind warning and a dust advisory. The Napa Unified School district has expelled four students in connection with that hazingal at napa scandal at napa high school. The other two are out. One of the students expelled is the school quarterback. 16yearold johnny torres. He has denied any wrong doing in what he simply called locker room horse play. Adult bullying is what it is. People abusing their power. They did it out of anger, they did it out of lack of education. They did it as 15 and 16yearolds lack of good judgment. Police have identified 16 victims total and almost as many are accused of being involved. The families of the four expelled students are expected to appeal the boards decision. There are a couple of slowdowns but for the most part were looking pretty good here. Oakland to 24. So it is starting off at least anyway where theres only a little bit of slow traffic. You see the red at the top of your screen. We have a backup from the macarthur maze to the metering lights. And that picture looks awfully still out there as chp doesnt have any advisories on the bridges. Seeing those gusts pick up once again. Heres a view over at t park. You can see the flags are blowing there just a bit. Not going to be as windy for the game this evening. Temperatures will be in the low 60s at the start of the game right about 7 15. You can see the system thats spinning over areas right well the four corners and areas that continuing off towards it looks like the midwest. It will continue for today. We are on the back end of it and behind it that wind really kicked up and we have a ridge of High Pressure thats strengthening our way and the two combined bringing in that Pressure Gradient and right over the bay area we have that northerly flow. San jose stand at 7 teen and Mountain View gusting to 25. So breezy through the Morning Hours as we get into the afternoon it will continue to ease up. Whenever i decide to potentially buy a house who can buy a house here . 55 of those responding to the survey say they worry about the overall cost of living here in the bay area. Its expensive. Northbound 280 traffic does look pretty good and south bay commute is not that bad. However, there is an overturned truck on the bailey road northbound 101 road. And that truck is leaking diesel fuel and thats why firefighters are still on the scene trying to lay down absorbant material. Can you see this is going to be here for awhile. They havent even started to try to attempt to right the truck. I dont even see a tow truck driver on the scene. There he is. There they are. Theyre getting ready. Authorities on the peninsula are asking for the publics help this morning in locating a man who has been exposing himself. Yeah, police are investigating two separate incidents from this week. Two girls reported seeing the suspect. Two different occasions. Reporter thats right. And Police Need Help in finding this man. Were on mariposa avenue right now. This is where Police Believe the suspect exposed himself to a 12yearold girl wednesday afternoon. Thats where the first incident happened on monday evening. A 19yearold woman reported the man exposed himself to her. Now here is a sketch released by daily city police yesterday. The suspect is described as latino or white about 6 feet tall. There is surveillance photos of the suspect and his vehicle. He was driving either a silver or gold 2003 toyota camry with a sticker on the drives side rear bumper. Police had not said whether or not the man approached the girls but they definitely need help in tracking down the suspect. So theyre asking if anyone recognizes this man to report to daily city police department. Students attal ban nooe high school are expected Albany High School are expected to be back in class today. Some of the eleven students who were suspended in connection with those incidents returned to school yesterday. Hundreds of students staged a sitin for three hours. But when one of the suspended students was seen leaving the campus in a van a group of students rushed that vehicle. The crowd was eventually disbursed and the van left the campus. Everybody is just outraged because everybody was walking down the halls with these kids for so long and never truly knew how they felt on the inside. Saying how people look like gorillas and stuff like that. Some of the suspended students are accused of posting racist messages and photos on social media. Others are accused of exchanging nazi solutes in the hallways. Some of the students are now facing expulsion. The Albany Police department is investigating the incident at possible hate crimes. Turning now to our continuing coverage of the ciara lamar case. The first witness testified seeing a car that did not belong to the suspect in an area where ciaras cellphone was recovered. Then later through an excerpt in forensics photography the experts questioned how a strand of ciaras hair ended up in garcias car. A tip on the animal cruelty hot line led to the break up of a fighting operation. They say the birds had been trained for fighting and many were hurt. Its a brutal sport. Theses animals are slashed alive. Theyre suffering and then theyre often left with these injuries for weeks. The peninsula Humans Society says all of the birds were humanely euthanized since many were seriously injured and too aggressive to be adopted. Well this Morning Police in vacaville and concord are looking for two women who stole thousands of dollars worth of cosmetics from two wall greens stores. Police believe the women in red and orange hoodies stole 4,000 worth of walgreens. The suspects pushed the employee who tried to stop them. The employee says they drove off in a maroon chevy impala. Put in a call to either Vacaville Police or concord police. Well the housing crunch in south bay brought dozens of residents together last night. Theres a lot of people being pushed out, taken advantage of. People who represent vulnerable communities. Right now landlords in san jose can evict renters without a cause. Renters say its difficult to find housing in Silicon Valley forcing them to move elsewhere. Its a situation 670 people are forcing today. The complex is set to be demolished to make way for market rate housing and retail development. The city does not have a policy to help tenants if they are forced out. Why should we get kicked auto because they want to raise the rent even higher. You know. It doesnt make any sense and i think everyone desatisfies to live here not only like the deserves to live here not only the tech companies.
