At a very emotional News Conference in oakland last night the mother of the two boys killed in a hitandrun crash in concord talked about her indescribable pain. She had just come from making funeral arrangements for her two little boys and the suspect in the case is Lemuel Wilson jr. It is important that people hear it from me instead of what they may think because the real victims here are my children. I dont want anyone to think that this person i just dont understand. On friday night aida reyes had taken her three children to the movies to see despicable me 3 and they were driving home to sampath low when a drunk driver that had a suspended drivers license rammed the Dodge Durango on the ramp off of highway 4. The fiveyear old and 10yearold sons of aida reyes were killed and her three month old is still in the hospital in Critical Condition. Aida reyes was also injured and you saw her wearing the neck brace. A suspect in the hitand run crash, Lemuel Wilson jr. , in jail and held on a 2 million bond charged with two counts of murder, dui, and leaving the scene of the accident. Henry lee says the deadly crash occurred days after wilson was accused of threatening to kill people at the mall in pleasanton. Reporter ktvu obtained Court Documents showing that days before the concord crash Lemuel Wilson jr. Was arrested by the Pleasanton Police and Authorities Say threatened to use a gun to kill nordstrom employees during a dispute at the stoneridge mall. When officers searched him and the car they found an unspent bullet, a credit card embossing machine and hundreds of credit cards with different numbers on them. Will some pleaded not guilty to making criminal threats and forgery and his bill was reduced from 100,000 to 10,000 and he posted bail one day before the crash that killed the two boys and injured the mother. Ive learned that the three month old son injured in the crash was breathing on his own but suffering seizures, and the baby is back on the respirator in Critical Condition at the hospital. Republican lawmakers argue the legislation would make it more difficult for the police to do their jobs this bill is a matter of making a political statement but doing so in a very dangerous way and in a way that will peril the safety of the communitys. The Wildlife Center in lake tahoe taking care of the injured bear cub found abandoned in the woods on the fourth of july and the female black bear cub was found in the bliss state park at South Lake Tahoe she is about four months old weighing about 15 pounds and she had two cuts on her leg when they found her. She was barely walking. The rangers that called us from the state park said she had trouble breathing and they were very concerned. The rangers waited for two hours to see if the mother bear would come back for the cup but she did not. They call the Wildlife Care Center and the bear cub will be washed closely. If deemed healthy it will be released back into the wild in about six months. Dozens of runaway pets that ended up at the contra costa Animal Shelter hope to be united with their owners and they were scared by the fourth of july fireworks. San francisco from 64 and now 69, livermore 86 to the mid90s and san jose mid 80s from the mid70s for yesterday. You can see we have low clouds and fog near the coastline right now and high clouds over the sierra with showers and thunderstorms yesterday over the sierra. Even in the bay area we have patchy fog with a few popup showers. Right now fog in the north bay and in santa rosa with quarter mile visibility. The fog is moving around the bay and in portions of the north bay. Checking on the current numbers, San Francisco 52, san jose 59 and 50 set walnut creek and pleasanton. Still talking about patchy fog and into the afternoon sunshine with clouds clearing near the coastline to set up a big temperature range and low 60s at the beaches and inland to the mid90s and eventually approaching 100. We are looking at some of the commutes coming from far away back into the bay area, coming in from Solano County from sacramento and dixon to get into vacaville and Solano County, not looking too bad. Eventually driving into vallejo and into Solano County with traffic moving nicely continuing across the carquinez bridge. Crowding on 37 heading west into sonoma and marin county. The east shore freeway only taking 17 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the maccarthur maze so not a bad commute. We have a little bit of slowing at the bay bridge since the metering lights went on but it is only a 10 minute delay before you make it onto the span of the bay bridge. We could see the bay bridge a few minutes go but now foggy so to give you perspective, heres the toll plaza and you could normally see the bridge coming through but it is covered in fog. As mark said, and it is 5 32 am. Four years ago today at the sfo asiana flight 214 crashed at the sfo and now we get a new look at what happened. We show you the airport camera video that is raising questions about how the passengers were evacuated. Reporter according to the San Francisco roof tower camera 2, asiana flight 214 approached to low and hit the seawall at precisely 1127 11 27 am and 47 seconds. It careened along the runway for 25 seconds and no emergency chutes were deployed 60 seconds after impact. The smoke is visible on the far side of the aircraft in the rear appears clear of the smoke or flames. The first evacuees appear to be coming from the rear of the aircraft 1 minute, 29 seconds after impact. The first emergency chute deploys 1 minute, 53 seconds after impact. The last person exits the front shoot 5 minutes, five seconds after impact and people can be seen coming from the rear of the plane almost 8 minutes later when the fire trucks advanced on the aircraft. The Berkeley Police say they have seen 35 incidents including 17 cars with slashed tires and they say some of the messages contain anarchy symbols another using vanity white people and the cops. A group of people forced out of their homes by flooding at the san jose coyote creek are filing legal claims and 120 families that were evacuated when the water level rose quickly still cannot go back home. They say the Santa Clara Valley Water District along the city of san jose and santa clara are responsible. They will hold an 11 am News Conference to talk about what they have done to get help so far, and what else they say they want done. The attorneys general of california and new mexico are suing the Trump Administration. The lawsuit is over the delay of the new rules to reduce methane leaks on federal land. It is the latest legal action the attorneys have taken against the Trump Administration over the environmental issues, and they say the new rules are delayed and that would ensure cleaner air. The department of the interior postponed parts of the law due to opposition from the Energy Companies in several states. What was once a lush golf course is now a source of frustration and complaints. The people that live in the petaluma adobe creek area said that what was the centerpiece of the subdivision is a weed infested eyesore and the golf course and clubhouse are shut down in the golf cart paths are cracked and lead to nowhere. Until a few days ago it was covered by tall dead grass and there are still weeds, grass and junk on the land in some of the homeowners say they are considering selling their homes. There are a lot of retirees out here, the single purpose they came here was to play golf. The Homeowners Association conducted a survey on how much they would be willing to pay to restore or convert the property to open space but it is complicated by the golf course which is partially on land governed by the county laws and under the city of petaluma. Early report showing the dungeness crab season that ended last friday along the coast was above average and now over south of mendocino county, in the same San Francisco chronicle reports over 21 Million Pounds of crab worth 67 million was caught and that is the biggest catch by weight and value in the last four years. Last year was a disaster for the crab fishermen due to the long closures that were caused by the toxic domoic acid in the water and they caught 12 Million Pounds, less than half the average for the past five years. Another hive profile problem for United Airlines and they will compensate the woman forced to hold her 27monthold son on her lap during the entire flight because the flight crew gave the seat of the child to another passenger. The family was flying last week from houston to boston and the mother paid almost 1000 each for the two plane tickets because the children over the age of two are required to have their own see. However, United Airlines gave the seat of the child to the same by passenger and the mother was forced to hold her child who was not buckled in for the entire three hour flight. United said the boarding pass of the child was not properly scanned so he was not logged in to the ticketing system. The crews and western states are battling a number of wildfires and local authorities telling people to evacuate. Marianne rafferty has the details. We take a look at this timing, eight miles an hour on 205, not very good but he gets better when you reach livermore it gets better when you reach livermore. You can see the traffic on 880 southbound slow past 92 but thats it. 880 northbound and southbound in front of the coliseum looks good driving up toward the bay bridge or the other way toward hayward. A 12 minute delay but for the most part nothing unusual getting onto the bay bridge. It is 5 48 am and lets bring in mark tamayo with the weather. The weather is not too bad and we still have areas of dense fog. There is some limited visibility on highway 101 and santa rosa reporting dense fog. We have the marine layer clouds on the coast line in the key headline is that warming trend and especially inland heading into today and into friday as well. The report up toward santa rosa as a half mile visibility which improved from a quarter mile with fog moving around at the coast and portions of the bay. Fog also trying to hide the bay bridge this morning. Current numbers are San Francisco 52, pleasanton 57, concord 60 and santa rosa at 50.
