The crash weve been talking about on the peninsula is closer to south Airport Boulevard on northbound 101, steve, just way from san bruno and south city, the crash is right northbound 101, right about here, no injuries. At one point they were blocking the lanes. They moved the cars. Some people are getting through but if youre driving away from the airport on 101, you will see it. Traffic southbound 101, for the most part, is not affected and you can use 280 and get round the whole thing. Its early enough so that we may not be permanently damaged in this commute by that crash. Lets go and take a look at 580 westbound and 205, this has been obviously one of the commutes that we always watch very closely. The speeds are down, down to about 20 mph, and once you get into livermore, it looks okay, no problems from the dublin interchange to Castro Valley and 280, san jose, northbound, the right, looks good, highway 17, no problems at the bay bridge toll plaza. 5 02, back to you. Thank you very much. An outbreak of the noro virus which is very contain views has hit several schools in santa clara county. So far, 200 students in 10 schools have been affected. Its believed the first cases surfaced at ha hacienda. They disinfected classrooms with bleach after 80 reports reported getting sick this month. Lopez was out of school all last week after the mother says he came down with a nasty stomach bug and lost five pounds because he was vomiting so much. Stomach ache and a fever, and then all of the body had the pain, and for all week, five days. Reporter the San Jose Unified School district started seeing students with similar symptoms 10 days ago. The norovirus, they say, is the virus, and its spread to 10 schools. Hacienda canceled events this week hoping to get ahead of it so it doesnt impact graduation. Today nursing will be at the schools teaching students about how to properly take care of themselves and hygiene. Thats probably the biggest thing in trying to prevent this, they say, washing your hands thoroughly and counting the abcs, saying them, while you wash your your hands before you prepare food or eating. A 14yearold former student at the school told us she was forced into a School Bathroom by an older male student and was forced to perform oral sex. Now we have learned the student athlete accused of the attack has decided to leave the school and wont finish his junior year there but that news did very little to keep tempers from flaring at last nights school board meting. Some parents say they are angry that that student has been going to school since then. [inaudible] a lawyer representing the student accused of the attack issued a statement that says, and im quoting, the District Attorneys Office has declined to file anything against the student other than consensual underage Sexual Activity as a result of the conduct on campus. However, the student has elected not to complete the school year on campus. The uc board of regents is set to vote this week on the establishment of a new nonresident student enrollment policy. If the proposed policy is approved, beginning in the fall of 2018, uc would keep the percentage of nonresident students to 18 at five of its nine undergraduate campus, uc berkeley, u connecticut l. A. , and uc san diego and irvine, nonresident students exceeds 18 , and they would be allowed to keep that. Two young men from wisconsin may be prosecuted for their daredevil stunt at the top of the Golden Gate Bridge and they recorded and posted it online this video of them scaling the bridge last month and performing somersaults and back flips. These are 18yearold high school seniors. They had no safety equipment. They went to the top of the Golden Gate Bridge, 750 feet above the water, and they say it was part of their spring break adventure. My whole life, you know, try to scale the Golden Gate Bridge with like just a natural idea, so we went there and went for it. The two young climbers were on the Golden Gate Bridge for 10 minutes. They climbed up the suspension ropes, easily bypassed security measures like razor fence. Security systems are developed to keep people from harming the structure. Our Security System is not designed to prevent thrill seekers harming themselves. Officials say they will increase security. They say the sensors, the alarms and cameras, concentrated on the bottom parts of the bridge. The two climbers are now making a profit from this video because they licensed it. But they could be charged with misdemeanor trespassing, a fine up to 10,000 and jail time. Its not the first illegal climb on the bridge. This morning were learning air line passengers could be banned from using laptops and another electronics on flights from europe to the u. S. Ktvus alex savage joins us from the airport with details of the possible expansion of the security restrictions. We keep seeing more and more of them. Reporter yes. We sure do. Because of security concerns, youll remember that back in march, Homeland Security banned the use of laptops and other Large Electronics on board flights coming here in u. S. Airports such as fso from eight countries in the middle east and africa, and now government officials are considering a similar ban on flights headed here from europe. This new move potentially could impact more than 60 million travelers a year on more than 400 flights to u. S. Airports. Its important to point out, nothing has been decided yet but later today, a u. S. Delegation will meet with european government officials to discuss what is reported to be a likely ban on laptops and tablets. We should point out this roll out could be somewhat controversial. You may remember that President Trump had a meeting with russian officials at the white house last week in which he discussed the possibility of such an electronics ban, that some of his critics said that he potentially leaked classified information, so, again, nothing set in stone here with this possibility of these expanded restrictions, but, again, there will be a meeting happening in brussels later on today to discuss this, to discuss the scale and scope of this potential ban, another ban, on large laptops, excuse me, on laptops and Large Electronics. Time, 5 35. Today the jury will continue to hear testimony in the penalty phase of the garciatorres murder trial, convicted of killing lamar. This part of the case began yesterday and assistant d. A. Boyd told the jurors this part of the trial is about justice. Last week garciatorres was found guilty of killing her back if 2012 but the body has never been found. The prosecution took the evidence, the fact that lamars body has never been found and is using that as an aggravating factor, stay of stating that garciatorres extinguished her life and left no trace mind for her family. The defense lawyers told the jury that their guilty verdict ensures garciatorres will die in prison. The only question remaining is whether hell die from natural causes, while in jail, or by lethal injection, at a time picked by the government. The families of 18 of the 36 people who were killed in oaklands ghost him warehouse fire consolidated their lawsuits. [inaudible] it just feels wrong that so many people died and didnt have to. The amended complaint was filed yesterday in Alameda County superior court. The plaintiffs are suing the buildings owner and manager along with a new defendant, pg e. Exhibited a willful and blatant disregard for the safety of the people who came into this building and the people who live there. They issued this response, quote, weve reviewed our records and over the last 10 plus years we have no reports of electric issues. A spokesperson for the Building Owner declined comment. Alameda county is still conducting a criminal investigation into the fire and an attorney for the Warehouse Manager says criminal charges cant be factual or legally supported. A team of federal investigators now joining the search for the cause of that huge fire last saturday morning. About 25 members of its National Response team will help investigation the cause of that fire. The building was under construction on the Oakland Emeryville city line. It has burned twice. The first fire was in july of last year. The developer told ktvu that he believes both fires weredeliberate set. Advocates rallied at the state capital to reduce criminal penalties for people with hiv. The current law makes it a felony to have unprotected sex with another person without disclosing their status. The new law would reduce that miles per gallon to a misdemeanor putting it on par with viruses such as herpes. The laws we have on the books are arcada arcaic. Opponenting fiery deucing the penalty for hiv transmission will encourage irresponsible behavior. Two Police Officers on paid administrative leave after a man died in their custody. Self ralph online gun sellers have greed to stop selling large capacity magazines to customers in california, the agreement, part a lawsuit where five Online Companies were sued claiming they were selling magazines with more than 100 rounds of ammunition, which is banned under state law. California doesnt allow that, more than 10 rounds, and a new law pasted by voters in the last election bans the position of most large capacity magazines, going into effect in july. A former employee of a San Francisco startup called upload vr is toking the tech go for alleged sexual harassment. The city of San Francisco is considering banning deliveries by robots, and right now several Startup Companies are testing them to deliver food but this supervisor says he doesnt want to see them on San Franciscos sidewalks. Time, 5 50, Authorities Say watch out for a Mountain Lion. Police say a woman walking on trails along the Laguna De Santa Rosa saw a Mountain Lion and two cubs. They are dangerous and aggressive, they say, especially when they are protecting their cubs. If you run into one, try to get out of there as quickly as possible and call the police. A couple of small earthquakes tripped the Santa Barbara area just before 10 00 p. M. Last night. In the preliminary report, a magnitude 4. 1 quake, hitting west of the incident, and a minute later, 3. 1 quake, set in motion right at about the same area. Several other tiny quakes came after. The sheriffs and Fire Departments reported no problems as a result of knows quakes. In pacifica, people are nervous after several burglaries in the day. Four of the five breakins happened in the linda mar neighborhood, the another one, two miles way in the pedro point area.
