San francisco voters will soon get a chance to have their say about homeless camps around the city. Christian, you have the details on the ballot initiative. Reporter it would allow the city more discretion in getting rid of homeless encampment as long as they provide residents 24 hours written notice to vacate. The city has seen a larger number of the encampments. The supervisor authored the initiative allowing the city to seize the property and hold it 90 days. The city could dispose of it after three months if nobody claims it. Four Board Members in all are bagging the measure backing the measure, which is sure to face opposition in the city. The City Residents will get their say on this Initiative Come november. Thank you, christian. Happening today, the Embattled Oakland Police department will come under more scrutiny. The case involves a sergeant who is currently on leave over allegations his girlfriend typed up homicide reports for him, then posted that confidential material online after learning he was married. Defense attorneys tell ktvu channel two every case the sergeant worked on could be reviewed. He led the investigation into the 2013 killing of a well known dog walker. Two men are awaiting trial for that shooting. The lawyer for one of the men will go to court today to seek more information about the sergeant in question. The allegations are that his girlfriend or a lady friend is now writing reports for him on his behalf, if shes inserting facts into the reports or her opinions or thoughts or belief, that would bring into question i believe of every report hes worked on. The attorney representing the sergeant said his client is a very gifted investigator who had a friend transcribe interviews on deadlines. Some groups in the city are demanding mayor libby schaaf step down. The Police Department went through three Police Chiefs in a week. Now the force is dealing with two embarrassing scandals, one involving at least a dozen officers and a teenage prostitute. The other centers around racist text messages. Protestors say theyve lost trust in both the police and the mayor. We also have to be asking why theres not a single officer thats fit enough to step into the office of chief. A coalition of groups held a News Conference yesterday outside police headquarters. They want a Community Commission with oversight of Police Conduct and also calling for input in selecting the next chief. The mayor says she wants the same things they are asking for and is working on having Community Leaders involved in the process. This will be a much different vetting process than the city has used in the past and that is my focus now, is crafting a process that the Community Feels trust in and feels like their voices are reflected in the search and the criteria. The mayor says shes working hard to make sure that officers are held accountable for their action and the Police Department does a better job in community outreach. Bail hearing is scheduled today for a man implicated in the killing of a Nevada High School student. Hes being charged as an accessory after the fact. Hes accused of driving one of the suspects home and failing to report the crime. Prosecutors say the 17yearold and a classmate were lured to a remote area last month where they were shot and attacked with a machete. Two other High School Students were arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder. Another suspect is still on the loose. The church where a pastor who gained National Attention for his antigay comments after the orlando massacre is being asked to move out. The pastor said he was not sad about the killings. In his sermon he praised the gunmans action. The parking lot where his church is says it does not tolerate the taking of innocent lives. The church has not publicly reacted to the request to move. Starting next month, a high school in the sierra foothills will have a new security system. Its been more than a year since a student reported being attacked inside the Sonora High School girls locker room. Police havent found a suspect in the case. The school board has approved spending money on surveillance cameras. I think every parent is really concerned that their number one priority is student safe. I think were moving ahead and have made a good decision. In something does happen on campus, somebody reports theyve been abused, a fight, things like that, we can look back and verify that on camera. The new cameras are expected to be in place before the new school year starts. Theyll record continuously and store the video footage for as long as two weeks. Police asking for the publics help to find another suspect in a bold smash and grab that happened more than a year ago. Police say sand oval is the son of one of two suspects already in custody. The breakin happened last may at the bloomingdales. The suspects ran inside and grabbed 125,000 worth of jewelry. Detectives think a fourth suspect, a woman, also participated in the burglary and they are trying to identify her. Time is 4 39. Even with the rain we had this past winter, a new study says it could take up to four years for the sierra snow pack to return to predrought levels.
