Today, grief counselors will be on the campus of a Cupertino High School to help students cope with the loss of their fellow student. He was killed after a big rig hit while riding his pike to school. Reporter its going to be a tough day for students from Monta Vista High School. Weve already seen some of them walking here on mclelen road. They will have to pass this memorial on their way to school. There is a pile of candles and flowers for the teen who lost his hif here. A group of 70 parents and students, including the family of the 15yearold Monta Vista High School sophomore that died last night, were at the vigil. Questions remain as to how the. Was hit. Deputies say yesterday morning a big rig truck was stopped at a red light. The boy was next to him when somehow he got entangled in the rear trailer. The accident has shaken up full low students. The author says allowing him to speak would give legitimacy to comments he made earlier this month on his hbo show in which he described islam as the only religion that acts like the mafia. Voters are gonna cast ballots next tuesday. The latest field poll shows jerry brown with a 16point lead over Neel Kashkari. The governor has not campaigned a lot for him. Now, prop 47 on next tuesdays ballot, it has generated strong opinions on both sides. It would reduce certain felonies to misdemeanors as a way to help reduce californias prison population. Last night in San Francisco, there was a prop 47 debate. On one side, jeff adachi, he supports it. And San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe argued against it. Were talking about crimes that should not be treated as felonies, potential of drugs. There are possession of drugs. There are 18 other states that treat possession of drugs as a misdemeanor and california needs to follow that lead. The problem with prop 47 somebody can have a long criminal record of robbery, kidnapping, carjacking, domestic violence, even Human Trafficking and if they commit one of these felonies, now felonies, they will only be able to to be charged as a misdemeanor. Prop 47 would make Certain Property crimes like drug possession, shoplifting and check forgery misdemeanors. Today is the last date voters can request vote by mail ballots force the november 4th general election. Officials must receive those ballots by the time polls close at 8 00 p. M. On election day. Jones, just like the giants, shes done this before and knows that Civic Center Plaza fills up fast. Of course, the crowd was all the way back there. With that in mind, San Francisco police officers, lots of them, will be on happened to make sure that that rule is enforced and to make sure that fans dont go overboard if there is a big celebration, if the team can pull off a win and take the title tonight. They want to avoid problems like we saw back in 2012 after the giants knocked off the tigers in the world series. The police chief said hes urging fans to celebrate in a respectful way. According to our fox sister station in kansas city, rachel rail started posting these hunter pence signs in her front yard last week. Now there are about 20 of them. Some of them reading hunter pence didnt call his mom on mothers day or he drinks banana daiquiris with a straw. Since then, these signs have been embraced by most fans. But now rail may be changing her swing. Yesterday, a local paper tweeted this picture of her latest sign. It says perhaps after the outcome of the last two games, i should be rethinking these signs. Now she says her new strategy may be to focus her attention on Madison Bumgarner or pablo sandoval. The San Francisco police chief has his own superstition with the giants one win away from another championship. Tentative plans are underway for another victory parade like the last one in 2012. Look for a parade down Market Street on thursday if the giants win tonight. That world series parade would likely happen friday, yes, hall hoe wean, a lot of halloween, a lot of orange and black if the giants win tomorrow night. Customers get a phone call saying their power will be cut off due to unpaid bills unless they rush to play with a debit card. They are told to use a money packard. Of course, the scammer takes the money. According to the federal trade commission, last year consumers reported losing 43 million in fraud involving prepaid cards. The u. S. Postal service is reporting a wider monitoring of peoples mail. According to an audit by the post master general, the usps approved nearly 50,000 requests last year from Law Enforcement to monitor mail for use in criminal and National Security investigations. The audit found that in some cases, the Postal Service approved requests without requiring the proper thorl i authorization. San jose police are asking for your help finding a woman who has been missing for four days. Investigators say 39yearold nellying agy lawyer hernandez was last seen at the metro pcs store on jackson avenue about 7 00 friday night. Her war car was found in the stores parking lot. Shes described as 55, 175 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Homicide investigators in oakland have increased the reward money to 0,000 in a tragic road rage shooting. Police say an angry driver shot and killed a young mother of four children while she was riding in a car on 98th avenue sunday afternoon. They say the deadly shooting followed some type of confrontation while 30yearold perla avila and her husband were driving back from the grocery store. The killing has shocked her family, friends and coworkers. This was such a senseless act, you know. This is a beautiful young woman that was had four Young Children and there was no reason for it. Police are still trying to get a description of the gunman and the gunmans car. They are urging homeowners and Business Owners in the area to check their surveillance cameras. 7 47. Happening now, b. This is because of because of things that happened much earlier, highway 4 is slow and then 680 is slow coming down it walnut creek. Its a little bit unusual because the crashes that have happened have been minor. But everything is very slow in this area. Please give yourself extra time. Dont get out there and be surprised by that. The bay bridge toll plaza is looking more normal. Westbound 580 slows after the 980 interchain interchange. 280 in san jose, its a little slow from the 101 interchange. 85 is slow and so is 101. This falls into the normal pattern getting into the valley. Its rather cool. A lot of 40s on the temperatures. A couple of upper 30s. Mainly up to lake county. Overnight lows are running a wee bit warmer so the afternoon highs will follow suit. Clear skies, a little band of high clouds offshore. No big deal. Can see them forming right there. Police in vallejo are warning about an increase in purse snatchings and stolen jewelry heres one suspect right before a theft on sunday at an office max store. Police say the suspects approach their victims and grab jewelry or bags before they run away. There will be grief counselors on the campus of Monta Vista High School in cupertino. That comes after a 15yearold student was killed while riding his bike to school. The boy, who was wearing a helmet, was next to it when he somehow got tangled up in the rear trailer. This morning students passed by the accident site on their way to school. I walk by here every day. Ive walked by the big garbage trucks. I dont blame the driver. He was very respectful from what ive heard. But its little scary to see that. Police say the driver of the big rig stopped and is cooperating with police. Sources kell ktvu it appears based on the size of the truck, it should not have been on the road in the first place and was violating a city resolution. That Resolution Says trucks with trailers require special permits and can only operate it between 9 30 a. M. And 3 30 in the afternoon. The wife of a Sacramento County sheriffs deputy who was killed in a shooting rampage, shes speaking out. Susan omly ver says her husband always kept his family close to his heart. He should be remembered as an amazing person. Deputy danny oliver was killed on friday while investigating a suspicious vehicle in sacramento. The gunman and his wife then led officers on a chase to Placer County. Thats where another deputy was killed. Olivers widow says her husband was dedicated to his job. He saw a lot of a lot of not okay things happening in the community, and i think he always wanted to get out of that environment and make those environments better. A Memorial Service will be held for Deputy Oliver next monday in roseville. The second deputy killed was Placer County sheriffs detective michael davis, junior. His funeral is set for next tuesday, also in roseville. Memorial funds have been established for both men. We are afinding out more about the gunman. Authorities say he was arrested ten years ago in utah for a misdemeanor hit and run. He was also deported twice to mexico. Marin countys district toifn is calling for District Attorney is calling for tougher laws when it comes to toy guns. Its currently illegal in california to remove the orange tip that gunmakers are required to place on toy guns. But the marin county d. A. Wants to make it against the law to even own a toy gun that has been altered. Hes also concerned about criminals who paint real guns to look like toys. Now, yesterday supporters of ccsf rallied outside of the San Francisco superior courthouse as the trial started. The lawsuit was filed by City Attorney Dennis Herrera against the accrediting commission, accusing them of treating city college unfairly when it threatened to pull its accreditation. Rabel filipos, a friend of the accused Boston Marathon killer, was convicted about lying to investigators about visiting Dzhokhar Tsarnaevs dorm room three days after the bombing. Prosecutors say he removed a backpack from the dorm room. A jury found him guilty of two counts of lying to investigators in a terrorism investigation. Each count carries a maximum sentence of eight years. He will remain on house arrest until his sentencing scheduled for january 29th. New this morning, south koreas spy agency says they can explain why north Korean Leader kim jung un was out of sight for six weeks. New this morning, a sheriffs deputy in Southern California was killed by a suspected drunk driving on highway 101 in camarillo. Well, this morning, a bay area man is relieved to say the least to have what he says are his life savings back after losing it on a bay area road. Lucky for him an offduty sergeant with the chp found the 120,000 in cash in the middle of a road in concord. The 20year chp veteran asked us not to show her face. She says this story is not about her. She just happened to be driving along concord boulevard last month when she saw two bags out there on the road. She stopped. She picked up the bags. And discovered they were bank deposit bags filled with 100 bills. The sergeant said she immediately reported it and turned the money in. Were hearing just how big the bp oil spill was in the gulf of mexico. New Research Shows the spill left an oily bathtub ring on the sea floor thats about the size of rhode island. Scientists estimate that about 10 million gallens of oil gathered on the ocean floor surrounding the deep watt water horizons rig. The rig exploded killing 11 workers. Around 7 15 this morning a call came into police that a man was threatening to harm himself and his family at a home on mccoy avenue and kito road in san jose. Police say they were told the man had a shot gun. So they closed multiple sheets near forestville elementary school. About an hour later, police took the man into custody. A ban was recovered at the scene. No one was hurt and all of the streets are back open. Police say the schools were not put on lockdown. Some bay area restaurants are taking tips off the table.
