Upset High School Students in pleasanton, cramming this weekend for the same test they just took two weeks ago. Thats because the scores of the first exam wont count. Ktvus allie rasmus is live this morning outside Amador Valley high school with the uproar over a matter of inches. Allie . Reporter about 400 students at Amador Valley high school who took their ap exams earlier this month found out that their test scores wont be valid. Its all because of a mistake in the way the students desks were arranged when they took those exams. Now, at 10 00 this morning, School Administrators will have a forum for parents here at the school to answer questions about this situation, but the situation has parents outraged and students, understandably, frustrated and extremely disappointed that their months of studying and preparation for these exams will not count. For now, looks like those 400 students have two options. They retake ap tests or have test fees refunded and previous test scores invalidated. Problems came to light about two weeks ago when one student complained about the seating arrangements in some of the classrooms where they took the exams. Test officials sent investigators to the school and discovered that the students seats were too close together, by about 4 inches, and not all of their desks were facing the same direction. Its the schools responsibility. We take ownership for that because we followed the College Board guidelines and set up the rooms in a certain way. Obviously, there were some seating irregularities that didnt follow those guidelines. Reporter School Administrators say the ap tests have been rescheduled for june 29, but that coincides with finals week at the school. Many students say their final exams are really going to suffer because now they have to focus their energy and attention again on retaking ap exams. Live in pleasanton, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2news. The same thing happened last year in millbrae. Back then, the College Board and Testing Services threw out hundreds of ap test scores at Mills High School, after it was found that students were facing each other during the testing. Anger at a high school in pleasanton. Instead of thinking about college or summer break, students this weekend must cram for their advanced placement tests, exams they already took two weeks ago, but those scores wont count. Ktvus allie rasmus is live for us this morning outside Amador Valley high school, where frustrated students and parents are expected to arrive later this morning. Reporter mike, students have to retake the exams because of a mistake in the way their desks were arranged when they initially took those tests. Now, the school and administration at Amador Valley high school have accepted responsibility for the error. A forum will be held this morning at 10 00 to answer questions about the situation. About 400 students are affected by all of this. Some formed a Facebook Group where they are discussing plans to express their frustration to the College Board. Thats the entity that oversees the ap exams, to try and appeal its decision. Students say they want to prevent this from happening again to other students. Some students are also coordinating study and review sessions with each other online before they retake ap exams next week. The problem came to light two weeks ago when a student complained about the seating arrangements in some of the classrooms. Test officials sent investigators to the school and discovered that the student seats were too close together by about 4 inches and not all of the desks were images the same direction. Ultimately its the schools responsibility. We take ownership for that, because we followed the College Boards guidelines and set up the rooms in a certain way. Obviously there were seating irregularities that didnt follow those guidelines. Reporter for now, looks like those 400 students have two options. They can retake their ap tests or they can have their test fees refunded and previous test scores invalidated. For students willing to retake exams, makeups will be held june 29, but that coincides with finals week here at Amador Valley high school, so a lot of students who are retaking the ap exam say their final exams are really going to suffer now that their attention is focused on the ap exam again. Live in pleasanton, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2news. Same thing happened last year at millbrae. This Morning School administrator administrators supposed to have a forum for parents to talk about the situation and answer any questions they may have. 400 students took various ap tests and then they found out just last week that the test scores of those tests are not going to be counted. The students have formed a Facebook Group to discuss about different ways to express their frustration with the College Board, to try to get the College Board that oversees the tests to try to appeal its decision and prevent it from happening again. Students are also coordinating review sessions and study groups online before they retake their ap tests next week. They have to take those tests because of a mistake that the school made and the way their seats were arranged. The problem came to light two weeks ago when a student complained about the seating afternoonments in some of the classrooms. Test officials sent investigators to the school and found that the students seats were to close by about four inches and that not all of the desks were facing the same direction. Those are violations of the guidelines. Administrators admit the mistake was their fault but students say its not fair they are being punished for it. Everybody is really depressed.
