Topping the news this morning, the coverage of the bart labor dispute. Time is running out for a deal. They are threatening to go on strike tomorrow. Today is actually day 154. Many commuters are hoping this is the last day the contract negotiations will go on and end with a positive resolution. They have said if there is no agreement by midnight tonight. They will go on strike tomorrow morning. That will leave commuters struggling to get to work. Another agreement between bart and management wrapped up last night. Some of the sticking points remain. They include worker pay and how much workers should contribute to their healthcare and pension costs. They definitely have the resources available. They seem to be fixed on certain points. It is more political than economic or financial. From our stand point, we are more than halfway there. We have been more than halfway there for several months. Reporter now, both sides have hinted towards some progress. Barts general manager was there for some of the negotiations yesterday. We dont know if she will be back there again today. 9 30 is when they will be back at cal tran headquarters a mediator will bring everyone back to the bargaining table. It will and long day ahead of the deadline. Allie rasmus. They will charter 200 buses. This is the station where they can take the buses free of charge. They run from five to eight in the morning. Everybody talks with a great deal of respect for each other and tries to explain the position. And they understand it. We may not always agree but we do understand each other. We are trying to keep the trains running and doing everything they can. They could admit us earlier. That wasnt the case and we are trying to put in creative effort and find out what might work for them. Some of the ongoing sticking points.
