We have another comfortable day in store for most of us. We remain parked with High Pressure to the east and a low parked over the coastline. The ridge will pull this way just a little bit. That will lead to a few degrees of warming for the inland areas especially for the afternoon. This morning we are starting out with some low clouds and its a cool start. We will look at the Current Conditions and the afternoon highs. Police are investigating a deadly attack at a San Francisco gold and Jewelry Store. Alex savage joins us live from the scene with the dramatic ending that led to the suspects arrest. Reporter and this Morning Police arent say figure this was a robbery that ended violently or a personal dispute but the two women were found dead inside the jewelry marte at 888 brandon street and both of them were employees of the Jewelry Store located onto basement level of this building. Police say a man was seriously wounded in the attack and witnesses say that he is the stores owner. The man police say was responsible for this deadly attack was taken in to custody yesterday but he didnt give up without a night. This man who was covered in blood opened fire on the first officers who arrived to this scene. Eventually the man ran out of ammunition and gave up. Police were searching the building for possibly a second shooter. Police evacuated about a hundred or so stores inside the jewelry marte and for those who work in this building and know the victims, they are devastated. Our building is a kind of family. We know each other, everybody is friendly to its just sad itll be hard for the people they see the scenery to stay in their mind, i dont know how they will live with it. Its not easy. Reporter the man accused of this attack so far is not being identified by police. Officers recovered a hand gun and a folding knife from this scene yesterday. The store own erin juried is in the hospital in Critical Condition but we are told he is expected to survive. Now police say that Surveillance Video from this area suggests that the gunman in this case acted alone and that the chief also added yesterday this was not the first time this man had been seen here in this building. We are live in San Francisco a father of a missing child is out of jail this morning and he says he is distraught about his daughters disappearance. The 49yearold john webb was arrested on suspicious of child endangerment after his daughter went missing on wednesday. Last night webb was released from jail after prosecutors decided not to file charges against him. He told police that he left his daughter in a car with his mother who he said has dementia while he went inside a store. The girl was gone when he returned. My daughter is missing i have to live with that even though im out of jail im still not free reporter he said both he and his wife had nothing to do with their daughters disappearance. A vigil was held last night in the neighborhood where she was reported missing. New this morning San Jose Police are investigating a deadly shooting. It happened about 9 45 last night on state and archer street. The victim was talking to someone on the sidewalk when a gunman walked up and shot him. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died. No arrests have been made. New information now about the man killed in a large Apartment Fire in redwood. The san mateo coroner identities him as a 48yearold darron Michael Demello pine. More than 20 were hurt and nearly 100 were left without a place to live. The cause the fire is under investigation but officials believe it started in the victims third floor apartment. Cal ocea is investigating after a janitor was crushed and killed at a Grocery Store in redwood the 43yearold was found inside a machine used to crush card board boxes. Septemberors are inspecting that machine the janitor worked there for fiveyears now to the crash of flight 214, all four runways at sfo are open this morning. Runway 28 opened yesterday. It was closed for nearly a wekas because of last saturdays crash. Workers laid down a thousand tons of new asphalt, replaced navigation lights and removed jet fuel that had spilled from the plane. Reporter the first plane to land onto repaved runway was a Southwest Airlines flight. The burned out fuselage is being kept in a fenced off area. Sfo said itll stay on the property for a week. Doctors at San Francisco general say they did everything they could to save the life of a girl injured in a crash of the flight but she passed away. She is the third person to die because of the crash. Her family has asked details not be released including her name, age or her injuries we have been asked by the family to provide them with some time and some space to appropriately mourn this tragic loss San Francisco general treated 67 people from the flight. 36 adults and 31 children. There are still six Crash Victims at the hospital. One male adult and five females including a girl. Two patients are listed in Critical Condition. Stanford hospital has one patient in serious condition. And San Francisco police chief greg sur confirms one of the teens who died was run over by an emergency vehicle. He said that the body of the 16 yearold was found on the ground covered with foa m. The coroner is still trying to determine the cause of her death. New this morning a deadly crash in vacaville reported just before five this morning on Pleasant Valley road near foothill drive. Details are still coming in but early reports indicate that a vehicle overturned, two parties were involved and chp is reporting one death. We have a heads up for drivers in San Francisco. There is a repaving project on Market Street and thats going to affect traffic. The work is taking place along Market Street between 4th and 6th. The families of surviving victims will get 20,000, two teachers hurt in the shooting will split 150,000 new, the Republican Controlled Legislature in texas has approved one of the most restrictive abortion bills in the country. House bill 2 is finally passed. Congratulations lawmaker passed that legislation just before midnight central time. Democrats strongly opposed it with more than two thousand demonstrators filling the building in austin but the governor of texas will sign that bill in the next few days, it bans abortions after 20 weeks and requires all portions take place in surgical centers. Democrats who delayed the bill last month plan to take the issue to court. California attorney general calls a petition to stop gay marriage baseless. The state started allowing same sex marriages two days after the United StatesSupreme Court dismissed proposition 8 but supporters claim that proposition 8 should still be law since the high court didnt specifically rule on the constitution ality of gay marriage. They also argue that the first suit only named the county clerks in los angeles and Alameda County and the gay marriage ban should stilla play in the other 56 counties. The governor is urging the california Supreme Court to reject the arguments. Lawyers for brown and harris filed a brief with the state court after years of litigation there is now a final determination that proposition 8 is unconstitutional. The camp is located just under the parkway but those who have set up camp are causing concern for nearby residents. Yesterdays attack left two women dead and we are told they were both employees at the Jewelry Store located on the basement level. Police also say a man was seriously wounded and witnesses say that he is the stores owner. Reporter so far police are not identitying the man they took into custody yesterday accused of carrying out this attack but police will say they recovered both a hand gun and a folding knife from the scene. The store owner hurt in the attack remains in the hospital in Critical Condition but we are told he will survive his injuries and police do believe that the gunman in this case did act alone in this attack and that the chief also did say yesterday the chief said this man had been here to this building in the past. Its not clear what his connection was to the victims poisonous meat balls found in two neighborhoods could pose a threat to humans. The tainted meat balls were found in the twin peaks and Diamond Heights areas. They have levels of poison that could be lethel for humans. It also can be absorbed through the skin. They advice anyone who comes across anything suspicious to call the police. If you think your dog ate one call a vet immediately. San francisco animal care and control said a dog has died after eating one of the meat balls. His owner said he ate one in their Diamond Heights neighborhood on july 3rd. Police found dozens of other tainted meat balls and continue to look for the person responsible. Its containing in those meat balling a highley toxic pesticide. And now to the crash of flight 214. Sfo runways and once again operational. It reopened just after five the airport had to work quickly to workers put down new asphalt and removed jet fuel that had spilled from the airplane. Officials say the Insurance Agent will pay for the repairs. Doctors say they did everything they could but a third crash victim, another girl has died. As the family mourns they ask the hospital not to release details about her such as age, name or her injuries. She had been in the intensive care unit since the crash. A group of students in south korea gathered to pay respects to the victims. It included bowing their heads and holding a flower. There was also a photograph of two of the teens killed on the day of the crash. A student read a letter that will be sent to the teens families. The group then went to the Chinese Embassy to offer messages of support. A tour bus driver arrested at San Francisco on drunk driving charges is scheduled to be arraigned later this month. The 60yearold was arrested last friday near stockton. He was driving a deluxe sightseeing tour bus when he was arrested. He faces charges that include driving under the influence and driving with an open container of alcohol. A teen boy is recovering from serious injuries after falling through a sky light at a funeral home. The 13yearold broke through the glass on the roof of fernwood last night. He felll 15 feet and suffered deep cuts from the glass. Firefighters say he lost a lot of blood but was in stable condition. They are trying to find what he was doing on the roof and how he fell. A jury awarded a south bay family a Million Dollars in a civil lawsuit filed against the city of san jose. The case is from the 2007 death of steve solinas who died in a confrontation with police after an officer tazed him multiple tiles. He was high on pcp but the attorney said he was unarmed and argued that the taser use was excessive and contributed to his death. There is wrongful death out there. A lot of cases arent proven but we took this to trial and im happy that we did. San jose City Attorney said the city is disappointed in the ruling and is considering an appeal. Oakland city workers could get a pay race after the city and two of its unions reached a possible deal on a new contract. It would give some 3500 workers a 2 race. Last week workers staged a one day strike during the contract negotiations. Its a wait and see game for people in the bay area who depend on bart to get to work as the possibility of another strike looms. Both sides did meet for several hours in oakland to continue negotiation. Worker contract extenses expired at the beginning of next month and if they do not reach a deal they say they will strike again talks arent scheduled to resume until monday morning bart police are look for people caught on video having sex in a train car. Its believed a third person use aid cell phone to take pictures. Lewd activity is ill legal. The video is a little grainy but they hope that someone can still identity those involved. A temporary fix proposed that could let the new eastern span of the bay bridge open by labor day. It was delayed after the finding of cracked bolts in march but now they are proposing a temporary solution. Yesterday cruise paved the suspension span with special asphalt with a high strength epoxy glue. Its only two inches anybody and is designed to flex with the bridge. I realize they could be a little uncomfortable for some but head closer to the bay and if you like it cool we will stay partly cloudy and cool at the coast with low 60s. Low to mid70s and as i showed you a moment ago upper 80s to low 90s for the warmest inland cities. As we get into sunday a little change. Monday into tuesday, the trough off the coastline will nudge farther our way and bring us a cooldown. Nothing to dramatic. Into tuesday the coolest day and a slight warm up for wednesday. This morning the russian government said it has not received a formal appeal for asylum from edward snowden. He came out of hiding at the airport yesterday to announce he would seek asylum. The white house said that russia gave him a platform by letting him meet with activists. A panel is pushing for more safety after last years fire at the chevron refinery. The panel is suggesting a task force be created as part of the state epa and use existing regulators from other agencies. The force would have greater control over penalties related to refinery accidents and would develop a monitoring system. If approved, it marks a historic change for the uc system. One man told me that essentially he was two doors away, heard the gun fire inside of 888 brandon street this is the gift center and jewelry area. Some shop owner was returning to close up shop because yesterday they left in a hurry. Two women were left dead in this attack. They were both employees of a Jewelry Store located on the basement level of this building. Polices say there was a man who was seriously wounded and witnesses are telling us that he is the stores owner. Investigators right now arent saying what the motive was for this crime. The man police say carried out this deadly attack opened fire on the first officers who showed up at this scene. This was outside on the street. None of them were hit and when the man eventually ran out of ammunition he gave up. Police right now are not releasing the gunmans name. S. W. A. T searched the building yesterday for any other possible shooters but they believe this man acted alone. I talked to a store owner who said he hid out during the attack. Scary, i was actually about two stores away from the incident and we heard a really loud gun shot and we started hiding. You know, 30 seconds later we heard more shots and you can just imagine it was really scary Reporter Police recovered a hand gun and a folding knife from the crime scene. That store owner who was injured in the attack remains in Critical Condition in the hospital but we are told by police that he is expected to survive. Surveillance video from this area suggests that the gunman did act alone and that the chief of police here in San Francisco also said that this is not the first time this man had been inside this building. While police arent saying what the connection was between the attacker in this case and the victims, some of the other store owners i talked too said this doesnt seem like it was a robbery. A father of a missing oakland child is out of jail this morning and he said he is upset about his daughters disappearance. He was arrested on suspicious of child endangerment after his daughter went missing on wednesday. Last night he was released from jail after prosecutors decided not to file charges against him. He told police that he left his daughter in a car with his mother who he said has dementia as he went inside a store. He said the girl was gone when he returned. My daughter is missing and i have to live with that even though im out of jail im still not free. Thats how i feel. He said both he and his wife had nothing to do with their daughters disappearance. Last night a vigil was held where she was reported missing. New this morning San Jose Police are investigating a deadly shooting. It happened at about 9 45 last night on state and archer street. The victim was talking to someone on the sidewalk when a gunman walked up and shot him. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died. So far no arrests have been made. And we know the identity of the man killed in a large Apartment Fire in redwood. The san mateo coroner has identified him as a 48year old. More than 20 people including several firefighters were hurt and nearly 100 tenants were left without a place to live. The cause is still under investigation but its believed to have started in the third floor. Cal rocea is investigating after a janitor was crushed and killed. The 43yearold was found about ten thursday night inside a machine used to crush card board. Investigators are inspecting that machine. The janitor worked there for fiveyears. San Francisco Police are investigating a deadly attack at a San Francisco gold and Jewelry Store. It happened yesterday at about 2 15 located in basement of a gift marte. Two women were killed and a man injured. Other shop owners say the women were employees and that the match is the store owner. The suspect is in police custody. He was arrested after firing shots at officers. There was a lot of screaming and just people running up and down the hallways, frantic. We ducked into a room and then they started locking the doors, from there they told us to get in the back of the building. Suspect was treated for superficial rooms. The male victim is in Critical Condition but is expected to survive. Investigators found a foldable knife and gun at the scene. They say they dont know the motive right now. The owners of 888 brandon said we are saddened by the shootings at 888 brandon. We extend our sympathies. The attack caused scary moments. Police evacuated the stores inside the jewelry marte. Other Office Buildings nearby were locked down. People were finally allowed to leave about four hours after the shooting. We talked to a store owner who said she knows the two women when were killed and said one victim was in her 30s, the other in her 40s. Very nice people. I mean, two nice girls and the owner, very nice person. The identities of those victims have not been released. Poisonous meat balls could pose a threat to humans. The tainted meat balls were found in the twin peaks and Diamond Heights neighborhoods. They contained levels of poison that could be lethel for humans. They warn that poison could be absorbed through the skin. Police are advising anyone that comes across anything suspicious call the police and if your dog eats one contact the vet immediately. San francisco animal care and control said a dog named oscar died after he ate one of the meat balls. His owner said oscar ate it in their Diamond Heights neighborhood on july 3rd. Police say they have found dozens of other tainted meat balls and continue to look for the person responsible. Now to the crash of flight 214, sfo runway 28 left is operational again. It reopened just after five last night. Two days ahead of schedule with only three runways in service. The airport had to work quickly to reopen due to continued flight delays. His arraignment is set for july 22nd. And a teen is recovering after falling through a sky light in a funeral home. The 13yearold broke through the glass. He fell 15 feet and suffered deep cuts from the glass. Firefighters say he lost a lot of blood but is now in stable condition. They are trying to find out what he was doing on that roof and how he fell. A jury awarded a family one Million Dollars in a civil lawsuit filed against the city of san jose. The case stems from the 2007 death of steve solinas. He died in a confrontation after an officer used a taser on him. Families say he was high on pcp at the time but the attorney said he was unarmed and argued that the taser use was excessive and contradicted to his death. There is wrongful death out there. A lot of cases arent proven but we took this to trial and im happy that we did. San jose City Attorney said the city is disappointed in the ruling and is considering appealing. Oakland city workers could get their first pay race in six years. Thats after the city and two of its largest unions reached a possible deal on a new contract to give the workers a 2 race this monday and a 1 raise next july. Workers staged a one day strike during the negotiations. It is a wait and see game for people in bay area who depend on bart to get to work and get around every day and the possibility of another strike is still looming. Now both sides metaphor several hours in oakland yesterday to continue labor negotiations. Worker contract extensions expire at the beginning of next month. And if they do not reach a deal the unions have said they will strike again. They arent available for the weekend so talks arent scheduled to resume until monday morning. Bart police are also looking for a couple caught on video having sex in a train car. Officers believe a third person used a cell phone to take pictures of them. Lewd activity is illegal, violater cscope be banned from riding. Investigators say the video is grainy but they are hoping itll help them identity the people involved. A temporary fix is being proposed that could let the new eastern span open by labor day. It was delayed after the find of cracked bolts but now a solution is being proposed. Though the opening date of the span on hold some finishing touches are still being made. Crews paveed it with special asphalt with a high strength, poxy glue. San Francisco Police are investigating a deadly attack at a San Francisco gold and Jewelry Store t happened yesterday about 2 15 at the store located in the basement of the gift center and jewelry mart at 8th and brannon. Two women were killed and a man was seriously hurt. Other shop owners say the women were employees and the man is the store owner. The suspect is in police custody. He was arrested after police say he fired shots at officers. There was a lot of screaming and just people running up and down the hallways, frantic. We ducked into a room. Then they started locking the doors. From there, they told us to get in the back of the building. The suspect was treated for superficial wounds. The male victim is in Critical Condition, but is expected to survive. Investigators say they found a foldable knife and revolver at the scene. They also say they do not have a motive right now. The owners of 888 issued a statement saying, in part, we are truly saddened bit shootings. We extend our sympathies to the families of those involved. Yesterdays deadly [ no audio ] two very nice girls. Owner, very nice person. There was a short evacuation, but eventually people were allowed to come back in. It lasted about four hours after the shooting. One store owner you heard from says she does know the two women killed and says one of the victim was in her thirties, the other in her forties. New this morning, a fatal accident near vacaville right now under investigation. It was reported shortly before 5 00 this morning on Pleasant Valley road near foot hill drive. Early reports indicate that the vehicle may have overturned. There were at least two people in that vehicle. The chp says one person died at the scene. The father of a missing oakland toddler is out of jail this morning and he says he is distraught about his daughters disappearance. 49yearold john webb was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment after his 21month old daughter daphne went missing on wednesday. Last night, webb was released from jail, after prosecutors decided not to file charges against him. Webb told police he left his daughter in a car with his mother, who he says has dementia, while he went inside a Convenience Store in oakland. He says daphne was gone when he returned. My daughter is missing, and i have to live with that, even though im out of jail, still not free. Webb says both he and his wife had nothing to do with their daughters disappearance. Last night, a vigil was held in the east oakland neighborhood where daphne was reported missing. San jose police are investigating a deadly shooting. It happened 9 45 last night on state and archer street. The victim was talking with someone on the sidewalk when a gunman walked up and shot him. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died. So far, no arrests have been made. New information about the man killed in a large Apartment Fire in redwood city. The San Mateo CountyCoroners Office identifies him as 48 yearold Darren Michael pine. More than 20 people, including several firefighters, were hurt. Nearly a hundred tenants left without a place to live. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. But officials believe it started in the victims third floor apartment. Happening now, all four run ways at sfo are open this morning, and we just talked to the airport duty manager, who says there are minimal flight delays. Runway 28left opened last night, two days ahead of schedule. It was closed for nearly a week because of last saturdays crash. Minutes ago, the Associated Press quoting Chinese State media released the name of the third person to die in the crash of 214. The girl died yesterday morning at San Francisco general hospital. Chinese state media have identified her as lia yi pang and say she was a student who went to the same school as the other girls who died in the crash. Her grieving family has asked the hospital not to release information about her, but doctors did say she has been in the intensive care unit since the crash. Weve been asked by the family to provide them with some time and some space to appropriately mourn this tragic loss. San francisco general treated a total of 67 people from flight 214. 36 adults and 31 children were included. There are still six Crash Victims in the hospital, one male adult and five females, including a girl. Two patients are listed in Critical Condition. Stanford hospital has one patient in serious condition. San Francisco Police chief greg suhr confirms that one of the chinese teenagers who died on the day of the crash was run over by an emergency vehicle. House bill 2 is finally passed. [ applause ] lawmakers passed the legislation just before midnight central time. Democrats strongly opposed the bill, with more than 2000 demonstrators filling the capitol billing in austin. But the governor of texas will sign the bill in the next few days, banning abortions after 20 weeks and requires all abortions take place in surgical centers. Democrats who successfully delayed the bill last month through a late night filibuster plan to take the issue to the courts. In ohio, the man accused of holding three women captive for a decade now faces nearly a thousand criminal charges. Prosecutors have filed a 977 count indictment against suspect ariel castro. Charges include rape, kidnapping and aggravated murder. Castro is accused of starving and punching one of his victims who was pregnant until she miscarried. Prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty. In france, investigators are looking into whether a faulty switch may have caused a Train Derailment last night that killed six people near paris. Nearly 200 people were hurt in the crash and nine are still in Critical Condition. The packed train had just left paris, with 385 passengers on board when it crashed right into a station platform. Investigators say human error has already been ruled out as a cause. It is frances deadliest crash in years. It has been one week since a Train Derailment devastated a small town in canadian quebec. These photos show what is left after 72 tanker cars carrying crude oil jumped the track last week and exploded. 50 people are presumed dead and 28 people are confirmed dead. The chair of canadas Transportation Safety board says it could be months before investigators know what happened. Operations are back under way at Londons Heathrow airport, but an investigation is being launched after an empty boeing 787 dreamliner caught fire. Officials say the fire started on an Ethiopian Airline 787, more than eight hours after it had landed. Now, the fire was not near the lithium batteries. Remember, the batteries were the issue that caused the grounding of the dreamliner fleet back in january. In a separate incident yesterday, a floridabound 787 was forced to return to england after it developed an unspecified mechanical issue. California attorney general Kamala Harris calls a petition to stop gay marriages in california quote, baseless. The state began allowing same sex marriages two days after the state dismissed prop 8, but a petition has been filed with the california Supreme Court, claiming prop 8 should still be law since the high court did not specifically rule on the constitutionality of gay marriage. Governor brown is urging the california Supreme Court to reject these arguments. Lawyers for brown and harris filed a brief in state court. Signs have been posted at a homeless camp in Pleasant Hill warning the camp will be cleared out. Those who have set up camp are causing concern for some nearby residents. Neighbors say they are worried about crime, potential fire danger, and Water Pollution in a nearby creek. Police say they will be clearing the camp on tuesday. More than a month after a devastating wildfire, california governor jerry brown has declared a state of a emergency in los angeles county. It is called the power house fire. It destroyed 53 structures and it burned 47 square miles of brush, all in a rural section of northern l. A. County. The fire started on may 30th and it was contained two weeks later. The Emergency Declaration will allow that county to qualify for federal emergency highway funds to repair roadways damaged by the blaze. A new study is linking fracking to earthquakes. Fracking involves blasting chemicals, water and sand deep into the earth in order to extract oil and gas. Researchers say southern and eastern parts of the u. S. Had more than 300 earthquakes in the last three years. They suspect the quakes may have been triggered by the injection of waste water into deep underground wells. They say the process can destabilize fault lines. The study is published in the journal of science. It happened yesterday at about 2 15 at a store located in the basement of the gift center and jewelry mart, which is all at 8th and brannon. Two women were killed and a man seriously hurt. Other shop owners say the women were employees and the man is the store owner. The suspect is in police custody. He was arrested after police say he fired shots at officers. There was a lot of screaming and just people running up and down the hallways, frantic. We ducked into a room. Then they started locking the doors. From there, they told us to get in the back of the building. The suspect was treated for superficial wounds. The male victim is in Critical Condition, but he is expected to survive. The investigators say they found a foldable knife and revolver at the scene and they say at this point, they dont have a motive. The owners of 888 brannon issued a statement staying in part, we are truly saddened by the shootings at 888 brannon. We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those involved. Yesterdays deadly attack caused very scary moments for Business Owners and shoppers. Police evacuated the 20 or so stores inside the jewelry mart. Other Office Buildings nearby were locked down and people were finally allowed to leave four hours after the shooting. We talked to one store owner who says she knows the two women killed. One victim was in her thirties, the other in her forties. Very nice people. Two nice girls and the owner, very nice person. The identities of the victims have not yet been released. Now to the crash of flight 214. The duty manager at San FranciscoInternational Airport tells us any delays at the airport are about 15 minutes or less this morning now that runway 28left is once again operational. It reopened last night, two days ahead of schedule, with only three run ways in service the airport had worked quickly to reopen 28left due to continued flight delays and cancellations. Workers put down new asphalt, replaced navigation lights and removed jet fuel that had spilled from the aircraft. Sfo Officials SayAsiana Airlines and its Insurance Agent will pay for the repairs. The burnedout fuselage is being kept in a fencedoff area at the airport. Sfo says the wreckage will probably stay on the property for at least another week. The plane has been attracting onlookers. Some people have driven by and even stopped to take pictures with the aircraft. I cannot even believe im here watching this. I cant believe i can stand here and see this wreckage up close and personal. Sfo Officials Say it is up to the airline to dispose of the wreckage now that ntsb investigators say they have completed their onsite investigation. Well, just about 30 minutes ago, the Associated Press quoting Chinese State media, released the name of the third person to die in the crash of flight 214. The girl died yesterday morning at San Francisco general hospital. Chinese state media identified her as lia yi tang and says she was a student who went to the same school as the other two girls who died on the day of the crash. Her grieving family has asked the hospital not to release information about her. Doctors did say she had been in the intensive care unit since the crash. A group of students in south korea gathered to pay their respects to the victims. The Service Included mourners bowing their heads and holding a flower. There was also a photo of the two chinese teenagers killed on that day of the crash. The south korean student read a condolence letter that will be sent to the teens families. A south korean group went to the Chinese Embassy in seoul to offer sympathy. A janitor was crushed and killed at a Grocery Outlet store in redwood city. 43yearold mindy uto was found 10 00 thursday night inside a machine that is used to crush cardboard boxes. Investigators are now inspecting the machine. Grocery outlet chain says uto worked with the company for about five years. Grief counselors are going to be at the store today. A teenage boy is recovering from serious injuries after falling through a skylight at a funeral home in mill valley. The 13yearold broke through glass on the roof of fern wood last night. The marine independent journal reports he fell 15 feet and suffered deep cuts from the glass. Firefighters say he lost a lot of blood, but was in stable condition at marin general. They are still trying to figure out what he was doing on the roof and how he fell. A tour bus driver arrested in San Francisco on drunk driving charges is scheduled to be arraigned later this month. 60yearold leon maynard was arrested last friday near stockton and post streets. Police say he was driving a deluxe sight seeing tour bus when he was taken into custody. He is facing several charges, which include driving under the influence and driving with an open container of alcohol. His arraignment is set for july 22nd. Hikers at san mateos Wunderlich County Park are being warned about a Mountain Lion, spotted on the bear golds trail yesterday morning about 10 30. Authorities say if you come across a Mountain Lion, make noise, try to look bigger or throw rocks, but avoid running away. Poisonous meat balls found in two San Francisco neighborhoods could also pose a threat to humans. The tainted meat balls were found in the twin peaks and Diamond Heights area last week containing levels of strike nine that could be potentially lethal for humans. They also warn the poison can be absorbed through the skin. Police advise anyone who comes across anything suspicious to call 911. If you think your dog has eaten the meat balls, contact a veterinarian immediately. San francisco animal care and control says a dog named oscar has died apparently from eating one of those meat balls. His owner says oscar ate one in their Diamond Heights neighborhood back on july 3rd. Police have found dozens of the tainted meat balls and continue to look for the person responsible. Oakland city workers could soon get their first pay raise in six years. Thats after the city and two of its largest unions reached a tentative deal on a new contract. It would give some 3500 workers a 2 raise this month and a 1 raise next july. Last week, city workers staged a oneday strike during the contract negotiations. Its a wait and see game for people in the bay area who depend on bart to get to work every day and the possibility of another strike looms. Both sides met for several hours in oakland yesterday to continue labor negotiations. Worker contract extensions expire at the beginning of next month and if they do not reach a deal, they say they will strike again. Since mediators are not available over the weekend, they are not scheduled to resume talks until monday morning. Bart police are looking for a couple caught on video having sex in a train car. Officers believe a third person used a cell phone to take pictures of the couple. Lewd activity on bart is illegal. Violators can be banned from riding on transit. Investigators say the video is a little grainy, but they hope it will help identify the people involved. A temporary fix is being proposed that could allow the new eastern span of the bay bridge to open by labor day. The bridges opening date was delayed following the discovery of cracked bolts back in march, but now an independent bridge engineer is proposing a temporary solution. It calls for installing metal shims, which would strengthen the earthquake supports and allow that bridge to open while longterm repairs are made. Bridge Officials Say they have asked the federal Highway Administration to review that proposal. Even though the opening date of the new eastern span is on hold, some finishing touches are still being made. Yesterday, crews paved the self anchored suspicion span with special asphalt that contains a high strength epoxy glue. The asphalt is only two inches thick and is designed to flex with the bridge. They also say the special asphalt is easier to fix and maintain. Google is delaying construction of its new campus at the nasa aims research center. Rescue crews eventually reached his four family members, two hours later. They were clinging to the upside down boat.
