Back to developing news in oakland. Weve been talking about a woman may have been the victim of a kidnapping. Police have been going through a house where she was possibly held against her will. Alex savidge is live there outside the house. Over night police blocked off that street. What is going on now . At this point the street is still blocked off right now. Investigators are here at the scene trying to gather evidence and piece everything together. We do know Oakland Police have detained at least three people to ask them about their involvement in this kidnapping situation. The victim in this case is a woman who police tell me may have been held against her will at a home that is on 75th avenue right off of ban crowd. Bancroft. And there you can hear officers ordering the people in that house to come out after they surrounded the place early this morning. Everyone inside did give themselves up peacefully and they were detained for questioning. A sergeant told me this all began with a call to police around 10 00 last night. Someone reported a woman who was being held against her will at a house. Police checked several different houses before they finally wound up at this place on 75th avenue. The victim was rescued. A sergeant told me a short time ago she is doing fine. Police cannot say at this point exactly why she was being held and that is exactly what investigators are now trying to figure out as they question at least three people in connection with this possible kidnapping case. It is an incident that has prompted both shock and outrage and now ktvu news has obtained video of a School Security guard beating a student in a wheelchair as Oakland High School. Tara moriarty is joining us now from our newsroom with that story. Tara. Reporter 17yearold Francisco Martinez left the hospital after another check up on his injuries. The High School Sophomore told ktvu news he protested when a Security Guard tried to clear the hall and wheel him to class. This is a look at the video showing the guard in the white shirt pushing martinez down a school hallway. You can see the guards right hand smack the teenager and then he hits the special needs student again. Martinez is thrown out of his wheelchair and on to the floor. What the tape doesnt show is the guard beating him in the elevator and cursing at him when martinez says hes in pain. He says i dont give a he said i hope you dont walk for another 12 weeks. Reporter he admits to spitting at the guard. The School District says that it fired Security GuardMarcel Mitchell immediately after the incident. The Spokesman Says mitchell had been hired as a substitute Security Officer in november and passed a background check. The guard is due in Court Next Month to face felony criminal charges. Police say 22yearold elliot roger killed six Uc Santa Barbara students. 13 other people were hurt. Roger was found dead inside his crashed car apparently of a selfinflicted gunshot. Because we are all family and those kids being effected by these School Shootings and the shooting that we had the other day in southern california, this is outrageous. I dont even know if i thought much but i have a baby boy. Not a baby anymore but hes mine. Fouryearold son at home and hes all i wanted to live for. Wildlife experts recommend playing dead during a bear attack it shows the animal that you are not a threat. She is recovering from serious cuts and bruises. Torn ear and fractured neck but has been released from the hospital. Meantime two chi owe toes are coyotes are recovering. They were burned from a wild fire. Her brother is half her size. If everything goes well, they are expected to be released back into the wild later this year. Firefighters battling a major fire in alaska rescued, pam, dont look at the pictures here. They rescued five wolf pups after they heard cries. None of the pups had burns but they are all being treated at the alaska zoo for porcupine wounds. Firefighters say these pups are very lucky to be alive. The 200,000acre fire has already claimed the lives of several animals. These little pups will stay at the alaska zoo for the next couple of months. Firefighters in san jose are warning the public to be careful after battling a pair of fires. Now this pressure tops the Drug Enforcement administration from spending money to go after medical marijuana operations that are legal under state laws. This signals a dramatic shift in congress on the marijuana issue. Right now 22 states along with washington, d. C. Has legalized marijuana for medical use. California was the first. This measure now heads to the u. S. Senate. Midnight tonight is the application deadline for anyone that wants to become an Oakland Police officer. The city is trying to resolve its staffing shortage. Four years ago there were 800 officers. Now the city is budgeted for 700. But the number of officers on the street is much lower than that because of people retiring or leaving the department. Starting salary for an Oakland Police officer is about 70,000 a year. Tell us why scammers have been impersonating dmv employees, janine. Reporter well, dave, california wont start issuing drivers licenses to undocumented people who meet all the requirements until january 1st of 2015. Not everyone knows that so scammers are telling people that they are available now for a price. San jose police is aware of the scam and say that some criminals are asking up to 1,000 a person to obtain a legal license. Officers say always beware of agents claiming to be able to help you by paying a fee. Some people are posing as lawyers and Staff Members to the department of motor vehicle. There are also false websites. Can prove their identity and residency in california as well as cast the written and behind the wheel driving test will be able to get a license. Right now the dmv is in the process of reviewing all of the categories of documents needed to verify identity and residents to obtain a license. The public will get a chance to comment on the regulations in the summer. So again drivers licenses for undocumented people will not be issued until january of next year. Traffic back to normal on interstate 280 in San Mateo County after a crash where a truck was hanging over a guardrail. News chopper 2 was flying over the scene at the end of a connector ramp from highway 92 to 280. The chp says the truck hit the guardrail and flipped over on the side. No one was hurt. That ramp was closed for several hours while the crews out there worked to clear up that scene. Bryan stows attorney plans to show the night he was attacked there was violence throughout dodgers stadium. Stow suffered severe brain damage. His lawyers will call people to the stand today who were in the ballpark that night. They will testify that they were threatened at the game and witnessed several fights that night. The bill sponsored by mark leno requires a lan lord to own a building for at least five years before tenants can be evicted under the ellis act. This measure failed to pass the senate on wednesday. And then leno agreed to make changes to exempt mom and pop landlords. The measure passed last night. It now goes to the assembly. Both the state and Senate Passed resolutions urging accreditation to give city college of San Francisco to give it more time. The Resolution Says city college has met nearly 95 of the 350 objectives laid out by the commission but they need more time. The commission has refused other requests to extend that deadline. If they lose their accreditation, they will probably close. Currently the state minimum wage is 8 an hour. Last year legislatures approved a bill to raise the minimum wage to 9 and then increase it again to 10 in 2016.
