are starting with overnight news from berkeley. police released new information about a deadly crash there. ktvu lorraine blanco is at the scene. what are they saying? >> reporter: we do have new information right now. we can tell you investigators believe the car was driving at a high rate of speed and hit that round about you see behind me before it crashed into the tree. they also say there are no signs of the vehicle trying to break before that crash. here's a look at what it looked like at the time of the accident. it happened near california and alston. there was so much damage to the vehicle they had a tough time getting the passengers out of the creek vehicle. the driver and small child was transported to the hospital. no other cars were involved but it may be awhile before the streets are reopened. >> they used the surveying tool to document all the evidence. there is evidence scattered around a wide area. that's why we have a couple blocks quarantined off. likely they will be here for another 2-3 hours. >> reporter: the two adults are in there 20s. police are not releasing the age of the child or names of anyone involved. reporting live in berkeley lorraine blanco ktvu channel 2 news. our time is 5:02. police in the east bay are expected to give us new information about this weeks fatal hit and run accident in dublin. investigators reveal the bicyclist that was hit and killed on dougherty road late tuesday night was a visitor from china. he has been identified as 57- year-old bo hugh. the car was a 2012 mercedes benz. in just about three hours from now the public gets its chance to buy stock in facebook. mark zuckerberg and company will raise about $16 billion. alex. >> reporter: this is where all the action is happening. employees inside headquarters right now very excited employees. about 1,000 of them will become instant millionaires not too long from now once the company goes public. the stock has been priced at $38 per share. we will give you a look at what the scene looks like. not at this moment but this was from last night. they are holding a hack-a-thon where employees are free to work on whatever projects they would like to work on. the ceo mark zuckerberg inside. last night he answered questions from employees ahead of the ipo to give them a sense of what is going to take place. hack-a-thon is a way to develop new ideas. i want to bring in justin. give highway sense of why they are holding this hack-a-thon. what is the goal? >> i'm sure it's to keep people focused and calm and carry on. but let's be honest there is probably substantial amount of people that will come into their own wealth. they can be anything but an amazing time. >> reporter: what happens to the stock? after the hoopla today where do you see it going? >> a lot of text docks after they go have a little peer. but we know they are seeing incredible results. the investments will pour in and over time the stock will do very, very well. >> reporter: alto based real estate broker has tracked up $100 million in sales in four months. some of his facebook clients cashed in their shares through private exchanges. >> usually buying a home in the $5-10 million range. not buying the super expensive homes but nice places. the executive team have children but most are still young and don't have children. >> $10 million buys you a nice place. facebook is 5:06. later this morning president obama holds a meeting at the white house with the new president of france. this is ahead of two international summits this weekend. later today president obama is hosting a g8 summit at camp david. the g8 summit continues into tomorrow and most of the world leaders fly to chicago for a nato summit there on sunday. coming up at 5:15 the main topic expected to dominate the g8 discussions. and then there is this. protestors gathering in chicago ahead of the nato summit. this group staged a demonstration outside the canadian consulate. they covered themselves in chocolate. representing that oil. thousands of protestors are expected in chicago over the weekend and many businesses there are boarded up their store fronts as a precaution. homeless camp cleanups will be temporarily restored in san jose. the mercury news reports three sites will be targeted including one in communication hill. two others along sister coyote creek. san jose city leaders agreed to take action after hearing from angry community leaders. happening now pg&e crews are working to restore power to hundreds of customers in nevada. two distribution lines and power poles came down alongish koa yeah lane. strong winds are apparently to blame. 560 customers are still effected this morning. their service should be restored at 8:30 or 9:00. at the height of the outage, 7,000 customers were effected there. 5:07. waiting at muni bus stops may be a thing of the past. san francisco municipal transportation agency has an app called muni plus. it will also allow muni users to check the balance left on their clipper cards, plan out a transit route and also locate bus stops. other apps have had the features as well. this is the first time muni users can get all the euro zone blocked. the president's national security advisor says president obama wants to make sure there san open dialogue at the summit. >> the summit is intended to be small and intimate and bart civic center station. he died six weeks later from complications from critical head and brain injuries. it's not clear yet if he fell or if he was a victim of a violent crime. sam white was about back to the desk. we begin with overnight news from berkeley. police are investigating a deadly overnight car crash. ktvu lorraine blanco has been talking to berkeley police this morning. lorraine. >> reporter: investigators believe the car was going rather fast before it hit that round about near california and alston and hit the tree. there are no signs of the driver trying to break. here's what it looked like closer to the time of the accident around 1:00 a.m.. as you can see there is a lot of damage to that vehicle. firefighters had to cut into the vehicle to get the people inside out of the crushed car. one passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. we are told a driver and small child were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. investigators will be checking to see if alcohol played a role in this crash. >> we don't know that. certainly the driver will under go medical assessment or is under going medical assessment right now. part of the protocol is to take blood and determine alcohol content. >> reporter: no other cars were involved in the crash but it may be awhile until the streets were reopened. again we are near california and alston. the two adults are in their 20s. police not releasing the age of the child or any of the names involved. they are cig the child could be between 5- they are saying the child could be between 5-7 years old. we are also following overnight news from oakland. investigators are searching to find out if an arsonist is responsible for an early morning carport fire. this one here started shortly after midnight on 90th avenue. the flames destroyed one car. firefighters managed to keep the flames from spreading across the carport to an apartment building nearby. one mother, three small children came running out of her home after what she heard was a very scary sound. >> i ran outside. the blaze was so high. it was scary. >> luckily no one was hurt. the flames caused a lot of damage to that carport as you can see. still no definite word as to what caused the fire. but arson investigators say it may have been intentionally set. police are investigating a double shooting. they responded to 65th avenue at 9:00 last night after a woman reported her son had been shot. officers also found a female injured about a block away. both were taken to the hospital and their injuries are said to be nonlife threatening. neighbors said they heard about 20 shots. new evidence has been released in the trayvon martin shooting case. coming up at 5:45 what new awe top is city results reveal. 5:43. facebook will have many friends today. the menlo park company goes public in a couple hours. when we are talking about money this is the third largest public offering in american history. alex savidge is at facebook headquarters right now where thousands of employees were busy during the night. what were they doing, alex? >> reporter: they are inside company headquarters taking part in hack-a-thon. they are doing coding work and developing new products as it were. certainly a lot of activity here at facebook headquarters this morning. the company itself is not talking at this point. by the end of their first day of a public company, facebook expected to be valued at $104 billion. the shares priced at $38 per share. mark zuckerberg will be ringing the nasdaq opening bell later on this morning alongside executives and engineers with the company. once they go public, facebook will be valued very high and last night they held the hack-a- thon. employees are free top work on new projects. whatever they like to do. trying to show investors they are committed to getting new projects. a man that tells me he will not be an instant millionaire is justin with web trend. you work with facebook quite a bit. where does this stock go after opening day? >> reporter: i think the value facebook is creating for thirds twistor -- for their twistors shows it's solid. >> reporter: should people buy facebook stock? >> i'm not an investor. i'm bullish. i'm interested in being able to participate in the ride but ultimately you have to make your financial decision. >> reporter: i know a lot of people interested in buying their single shares. a company they love and to show their commitment to the company. in any case later on this morning mark zuckerberg and some of the other the pioneers of silicon valley is about to lay off thousands of workers. hewlett pac card has not -- packard has not confirmed anything. but they are ready to eliminate as many as 30,000 jobs. most will come from the printer, pc, and information technology division. that move could save hp more than $1 billion a year. time is 5:37. a court hearing is scheduled today to consider a request to remove 100 coffins from an old graveyard found at valley medical center. construction crews unearthed the coffins back in february. some are said to date back to 1875 when that site was used as a cemetery for families that couldn't afford burial costs. if santa clara county gets the permission to remove the coffins archaeologist will be hired and efforts will be made top track down family members. police have launched a new crack down on violent street gangs. ktvu road along with members of the gang task force during the fire night. our cameras were there when the operation got off to a surprising start. now the task force was holding a briefing outside mill hospital in burling game when one officer recognized a known gang member going inside. he was wanted for burglar. >> it was a happenstance that he happened to be there. he has a very violent past. >> it turns out the man has already been arrested and had just been released from jail. the gang task force made two other electricity should be back on at 8:30 or 9:00 this morning. vallejo family wants a police officer to apologize for fatally shooting one of their dogs. the officer came to the home wednesday unannounced to take a report of identity theft. lauren and his wife had reported the crime online three days earlier. one of their three dogs aggressively came toward the officer while snarling. the officer feared for his safety and shot and killed bell. the family say there is is only one thing they want. >> to come here and apologize and play with the kids and we would be done. >> the family says none of their dogs has ever bitten anyone. 5:45. new details caming from florida about the controversial shooting of trayvon martin. after trayvon martin was shot and killed sanford police urged the states attorney to arrest the shooter george zimmerman reportedly saying the incident was avoidable. that is according to new evidence released by prosecutors. along with this surveillance video you are looking at trayvon martin inside a 7- eleven store the night of his death. it's reported that martin has traces of marijuana in his system. after leaving the 7-eleven he encountered george zimmerman. according to court documents sanford police say there is no indication that martin was involved in any criminal activity. jurors will begin deliberating the fate of john edwards' today. he is accused of using $1 million in campaign donations to cover up an affair during the 2008 presidential race. prosecutors said edwards' knew about the money and directed the cover up. the defense argues while edwards' may have been a bad husband he did not violate any federal campaign laws. edwards faces up 30 years in prison if convicted. police are searching for three men they believe are responsible for several bank robberies. the man in the center of the screen walked into the bank on april 30th and demanded money from the teller. he is also suspected in bank robberies in san francisco and green beret. the man on the left of the screen is an acome police. the man on the right side is wanted for several unrelated bank robberies throughout the financial district. 5:47. the brieon stow -- the bryan stow bill is closer to becoming law in california. it aims at -- other high profile incidents include the fights during a preseason football game. this one during the game between the 49ers and the raiders. the state assembly unanimously approved the measure. it now goes to the state senate. the bill requires professional sports stadiums and arenas post a phone number for security and parking lots and in the stands. the oakland a's will play the giants at at & t park tonight. bud see league is raising the possibility that the a's may leave the bay area. he says
