A muni Spokesman Says the Transit System is only at 50 of capacity. Many angry bus drivers have called in sick to send a message about the new contract. Reporter its not a very happy monday for many commuter. One posted that her bus was delayed up to an hour already. Bart is trying to help out and will be honoring muni fares within San Francisco and daly city. However, it is going to be a messy morning commute. As you said we just spoke with the spokesperson for muni. He said half of service is down. That includes trains and so even if your bus does come, it will be slow. So if you can, get out the door or you may be late to work this morning. Muni has been working on a contingency plan to prepare for the worse. We do have people on stand by to fill runs of operators that call in for sick. Reporter word of a sickout that is all the bus drivers calling same saturday when 200 muni mechanics and operatorred voted on their new contract. Muni workers can not strike. So the sickout is a way for them to voice their unhappiness. Its unclear how many are unhappy with the proposal but judging by todays number it is quite a few. This crash happened just after 3 00 this morning the driver of the truck told chp he fell behind the wheel and drifted off the road. The passenger in that truck was flown from the cab and killed. That man was not wearing a seat belt. There is also another issue out here. The truck is leaking diesel fuel. That means a hazardous it will be quite a challenge to clear the crash. There are Tow Truck Companies that are out here right now. They might have to shut down at least one lane of westbound 80 to get this truck out of the way. Again that will impact traffic. A nationwide search continues this morning for a San Francisco man after an fbi raid turned up explosives in his apartment. The man they are searching for is 42yearold Ryan Chamberlain ii. He is considered armed and dangerous. Thousand on saturday people near jackson and polk streets saw some agents. Agents say they are not sure what his intentions were with the explosives. But neighbors are surprised. They say he was friendly and never raised suspicion. He is very friendly. He is quiet. You always have to start the conversation with him. Its never vice versa. Two cars crashed taking out a light pole on northbound interstate 680. The driver one of the cars was arrested and police say he was suspected of driverring under the influence of drugs. After that crash a truck and car hit that down pole. Another car came up and rear ended the van. Another person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The lanes have been since reopened. Lets take a look at southbound 680. The crash has traffic backed up nearly into walnut creek. An unusual back yum trying to get through san ramon. The biggest backup of the morning is on 580, 680 interchange getting up from the dublin interchange. This is a onehour delay. More than one hour from grant line road to the 680 interchange. And that is terrible. Highway 24 the drive time here that is about an eight minute drive. 6 32 lets go back to the bay bridge toll plaza. I almost forgot but i didnt. 20 minute drive time into San Francisco. Now lets go back to the desk. Muni riders are experiencing major delays on buses and trains. That is because service is at less than 50 due to a sickout. Hundreds of muni workers are sending a message to management that they are not happy with their contract. Tara moriarty is joining us live. You just spoke to a muni official about this problem. Reporter good morning. Riders are already complaining on social media that they have been waiting for more than an hour. We are here at the bus yard which is on presidio. You can see there is quite a few buses here in the lot. They have tweeted out that riders should expect significant delays. We dont know the number. The exact number of people who called in sick but we do know its in the hundreds. The reason for the mass sick call muni operators are ticked about the calls. Muni management did say it worked on a contingency plan. About more than half are not on the street. About 400 to 600 runs are not out this morning. Were trying to Balance Service the best we can. Live in vallejo alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. Oakland Police Officer will be stationed at an Elementary School where a nineyearold girl was attacked with a hammer. It happened friday morning at lafayette elementary in west oakland. Police say the mother of another student lured the third grader into a bathroom and assaulted her. The girl is expected to recover. Now the woman was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. School Officials Say she is a frequent volunteer at the school and apparently been feuding with the girls family. Three women are recovering after reports of a gun shout wound. They responded to the shots at 9 30 last night. They found one victim with a gunshot wound. All three are in stable condition. A massive cleanup will be under way after a fire at a Processing Plant burned four buildings to the ground. The flames started at about 10 30 on saturday night at the showy foods facility on Feather River boulevard. Fire crews from three counties and two dozen agencies teamed up to battle the flames. Some remained on scene yesterday to make sure other parts of the plant were protected as the last of the embers burned. An investigation is under way into the cause of the fire. No one was hurt. Bay bridge toll plaza you can see traffic is backed up for a 25 minute delay getting into San Francisco. San jose and the south bay 85 is the slowest freeway. It is backing up just north of 87.
