Commissioner what was going through his mind during the robbery in las vegas in 2007 and he said he did not intend on committing the crime but was trying to get his personal belongings back here i wish this would have never happened. I apologize to them in my sentencing and theres nothing i can do about this, but i couldve done something about the entire thing in the beginning. If i had made better judgment back then none of this wouldve happened. I take full responsibility because i shouldve never i have not made any excuses and nine years. Reporter as you heard, he did take full responsibility for what happened and said he did not even realize that a gun and had been pulled during the incident, and he said that happened behind him and he was not aware of that until after the fact. He also wanted to apologize not only to the commission but to the people of nevada and heres what he had to say about that. I have done my time. I have done it as well and respectfully as i think anybody can. If you talk to the wardens they will tell you that i gave them my word that i believed in the jury system. I honored their verdict. I have not complain for nine years and all ive done is try to be helpful, and encourage the guys around there to do their time, fight it in court, and dont do anything that will extend your time. That is the life i want to live because i want to get back to my life. Reporter o. J. Simpson making very heartfelt and emotional plea with his daughter testifying on his behalf as did one of the crime victims that had the gun pointed at him. He testified on behalf of o. J. Simpson being released. The commissioners met for short time, less than 30 minutes to come back with that unanimous decision that o. J. Simpson deserves to be paroled with one caveat from the chair of the commission saying that we take parole violations in nevada very seriously, a shot across the bow that oj, if you violate your parole you could very well end up back in prison. O. J. Simpson could be released from the prison in lovelock as soon as october 1. Ken wayne live in nevada and thank you. The criminal attorney was with us through the special coverage of the hearing, and talk about the next step because any minute he will be back behind bars and hill and how will that change for for the ultimate release here he will be behind bars and they will find out where he will be transferred to and probably back to clark county until october 1. It was powerful from bruce, the victim that said he never laid a hand on him, if you think the commissioners had their mind made up before they stepped into the room before the hearing or do you think those words played a decision . I think they probably had their minds made up in the since there had not been any bad conduct but hearing the fact that it is easier for them to sign off on it hearing from the victim. You talk to your own clients is a criminal defense attorney about turning your life around and taking the opportunities you have been given and how far do you think this decision goes in a racing any mark on the o. J. Simpson name, personal brand and doesnt do much at all . I dont think it does anything at all. This was the trial of the century involving domestic violence, and with prior incidents in respect to his former wife, very sad. There was the 911 call, the dream team with respect to the defense team that did a good job in establishing what they could with respect to reasonable doubt. There was a lot of evidence to respect oj being involved in the crime. The blood on the driveway, and in the bronco, and i dont think this will erase what we see with the past sins of oj because that is not going away. He is been an obsession for the better part of the quarter century and maybe not so much since in prison but does it continue now that he is 70 years old with o. J. Simpson the obsession on where he is or what he is doing . Supposedly he has a magnetic personality and i think people will always be curious about o. J. Simpson because he was such a fixture of our lives and i dont think that will go away. I dont think that will die because i think he will still want the spotlight and he will still be coming into our lives. Someone got poked last saturday cleaning up and they were poked by this used syringe. Why some say the new design is a type of defensive architecture. We will check back in with our meteorologist Steve Paulson as we gear up for the weekend coming up next. The San Francisco library gets a facelift to make it more familyfriendly and giving the building a modern exterior. There are also complaints that the facelift is designed to keep the homeless off of the grounds. Reporter it has been a neighborhood fixture at castro for decades, the library that is only a block from the market on the edge of 16th street sandwiched by the homes and businesses, a popular place for families. This library in the last year has become or two years has become unpleasant to come to because it does not feel safe. Reporter the library has become the haven for the homeless. They loiter by the day and camp out at night. While inside it has become a warm and safe escape from the elements, including the bathroom, and this is creating a big issue. Someone got poked her last saturday cleaning up and volunteering to clean up around the library was poked by used syringe. Also making it welcoming, that is the top thing. People should be able to walk by the branch and say i want to go in there and spend time in their. Reporter critics say the Library Design is geared toward making the homeless spend less time there, and that is a type of defense architecture and the cement walls along 16th street are often used to sit and relax and now slated for kneehigh ornamental railings and these wall planners that are popular sitting spots and they now will have decorative railings under the new plan. On prosper street, this street of bark mulch will be replaced with undulating rock formations and cobble pavers. Agaves are much different landscape feature than the mounds of soft ivy and moss, and the groundcover. Reporter john king is the urban design critic for the San Francisco chronicle. You now have six places to sit as opposed to 15 to 20. Reporter king says the plan uses a controversial design trick which is known as defensive architecture which is meant to keep people from getting too comfortable. We are not creating a space that falls under the term of defensive architecture and that is not what we are about at the library. We are about making this space welcoming to all. It is defensive architecture. You cannot say we are not trying to defend ourselves against the people using the library but defending ourselves against the people deciding it is a blank slate that they can take over. Reporter king calls it the the tension of urban living with a balancing act between the open door and safe usage. Some of this is genuinely we want to chase the undesirables away. Some of it is to strike a balance to have places where people can relax and sit for a few hours. We dont want places where that will be taken over by tenants or drug users, things like that. Reporter after public discussions the library decided not to make similar changes to the back patio which that area is locked after hours and they also employ a fulltime social worker and five health and safety associate that Service Everyone including the homeless. Lets talk about hill and he was all about inclusion what would he say about all of this . He would be engaged with us to talk and figure out what is happening here. This is what im hearing from the people on what was going on and being a partner in creating a space that is welcoming to all. That is my hope and i think that would happen. It really is a sign of the times in a city where the balancing, the line appears is so fragile. Reporter ktvu fox 2 news. Good afternoon.
