The families and their attorney spoke saying that the Water District shouldve done a better job controlling the runoff from the winter rainstorms and all of that water eventually overwhelming the coyote creek. The attorney that filed the claims says that the disaster was clearly preventable. It is preventable meaning they have to own up to it and acknowledge it. More was needed and more needs to be done so that this does not happen again. I think that is what the community expects, and what they want and deserve. Reporter the families filing the claims are seeking damages of at least 25,000, and they are calling into question the Emergency Response following the flooding. In the past San Jose City officials acknowledged they did not issue the evacuation orders early enough of those that lived near the rising crate.
