I want to say in speaking with the family today, you can tell absolutely they are grieving very much and they say that their son wanted to join the army and wanted to go to school so it is really a change that they were killed in a spot that they frequently visited on valentines day. Did they say why they wanted to talk. Sometimes they dont want to talk to the media and other times they do want to know what their son and daughter was like. They said that they are looking for answers because they didnt know why their sons would be targeted and why the two boys would be targeted and looking for answers and want to know about the motive because they are lost and have no idea why this would happen. Must have been a situation where it is heart breaking in a house and talking to a mom or dad and talking to somebody that lost their son or daughter. The father said i dont have all of the answer hans happened for a reason. I dont have all of the answers but god does. A man accused of killing his coworker and dumping his body in the mountains. All right. Thanks rosemary. The unseasonably warm weather is causing concern in wine country where Grape Growers have a close eye on their crops. The grapes are fine but people say if the warm weather continues that could change as ktvu tom vacar reports that growers are thinking about defense measures. A story new at six. All over wine country today pruning crews taking advantage of the warm weather to get important work done at a good time of year to do it. But no pruning tomorrow because rain is expected tomorrow night. And the risk is that you could develop some kind of disease. With pruning you can imagine you are cutting the vine to you are making a wound. We need that wound to heal before water starts to fall on it or around. It another concern, too much good weather. The danger is there is too much heats that encourages the vine to grow and for mud break to occur earlier than normal. And that will emerge from the wooden twigs. We dont want that to happen early because frost season is ahead of us. Buds break in mid april and really as early as march. And larry betanelli, a long time grape grower that says the weather could be a problem. You could expect the buds to break sooner. Generally when that happens you have a longer period of potential frost. This is so important what happens now and a bad frost can wipe you. The however growers have Defense Mechanisms to prevent breezes and provided a hard bitter cold doesnt last too long. We have a number of tools available in general. Sprinklers can protect vines down to 22 degrees. But beyond that it is good luck. So el nino or no el nino, drought or no drought. Hot or cold prevents growers with their own sets of problems and opportunities or as one wise grape grower said, how this is year . Just like last year. Different. Tom vacar, ktvu, fox 2 news. New at six, privacy advocates questioning a judges decision to release the personal information of millions of Public School students in california to a nonprofit group. That group, the California Concerned Parents Association sued the state for access to the information. That information includes the home addresses and Social Security numbers of students. The nonprofit claims it wanted to ensure disabled students for being treated fairly. The judges ruling stipulates the group must protect the records and privacy advocates worry the information could fall in the wrong hands. And unfortunately a lot of that information could be used to commit Identity Theft if it gets in the wrong hands. The ruling affects any child who attended a Public School since 2008. The judge is allowing the parents to opt out of sharing information. You have to fill out a form and send to it court by april 1st and you can get a link ktvu. Com. Crews are dealing with a sandy situation and it involves trucking tons of sand from one end of ocean beach to the other. It is all because erosion there is taking a toll. It sure is. Rob roth with how the city is trying to get ahead after potentially serious problem. On this warm february day, ocean beach was a good place to get sun and watch the waves and bury a kid in the sand. A perfect day. But the sand is a big problem on the southern section near the zoo. Work crews are returning some of what is lost. We have an imbalance. The sand is too little here and sands depositing it on the north side where theres too much. The excess is getting in stairwells and has caused sand drifts. Its Natural Forces and the way the coastline is designed and the way the waves come in. The puc is planning to scoop up 30 tons of sand from the north side and trucking it to the south side where it came from. About a thousand loads in all. The concern is that too much erosion here could jeopardize an underground sewer pipe feeding the treatment plant. Have you this pipeline carrying tons of sewage and if that were to rupture, it would go in the ocean. The project will have to be repeated until the city comes up with a more permanent solution. If it slows down it could miss the evening drive and if it speeds up, it could be just in time for the 5 00 hour. Thursday scattered showers and a mix of sun and clouds. With the system anywhere from a quarter to a halfinch expected for the urban areas. An inch for the hills in the area and the wind will be with us. Could be breezy throughout the entire bay area and the wind advisory for the hills anywhere above one thousand feet and sierra snow coming. On the road a different story. As a matter of fact they are only one and eight. They got to get the situation turned around. They are up in washington to play the huskies on thursday night. They will play wsu saturday and eventually figuring out how to win on the road. Well it is a young team and their coach martin figures they will get it together and sooner rather than later.
