What do you do at the garden at the school . We usually water the plants and try to find new seeds that we can use so we can replant them. Then get more beautiful vegetables in the garden. Do you notice the food tastes better or different in the cafeteria . It actually tastes the same but with the food that they give us, it tastes better. Thats great. So matthew, talk about you guys did a survey with the school children, asking them about what they thought of the food or if they even new about some of the vegetables. Tell me about the survey results. The main response was where do apple come from. The main answers we were getting back was from the grocery store. Students were disconnected with knowing where they food is grown from. They didnt know it was green a tree . Exactlyly. It became our mission to get them to know where it came from. A lot of time students the, who participate in the garden are more apt to eat the vegetables. What are the biggest changes your seeing now among the students . I think theyve accepting the options a lot better and actually not just we have a salad bar in the school. Theyre not just breezing by the salad bar. Theyre actually stopping, getting fruits on their trays and eating them. School lunches got a bad rap for not having adequate choices. Thats not the case. School lunches have come a long way. How did willow cove get chosen by the white house to be a part of the visit with Michelle Obama . Theyre one of three schools in the nation selected. The us into. That. That that the enthusiasm that students bring helped that. It was an easy choice for them. What was it like one youre in d. C. And having that meal at the white house and meeting martha .
