Well take a look at where the temperatures are headed and take a lock at your president day forecast in just a bit. We start this hour with developing news from san jose. 15 people are without a home this morning after a fire ripped through a two story Apartment Building. The blaze broke out about 3 00 this morning in the 5700 block of tucson drive. Investigators say the fire started in the second floor unit and it burned to the apartment below. Firefighters brought it under control in about 45 minutes. The red cross is there currently helping with the families with food, shelter and clothing. Kron4 is there too. Well have a live update coming up from him shortly. Also developing this morning, Oakland Police investigating a shooting in the cities santa fe neighborhood last night. Happened about 6 00. Officers found one victim suffering from a gun shot wound. That victim whose identity has not yet been released is expected to survive. Police are still looking for a gunman this morning. Investigators are looking into the death of a man hit and killed by a muni train. Police say the 45 year old victim may have slipped from a kron4 dan rubin explains the tragic incident had a Ripple Effect across San Francisco. Reporter around 2 30 saturday afternoon there were 911 calls about a man being hit by a muni train. Here you can see a person with the man that was hit. Hes clearly distraught as he gives his account to investigators. This early in the investigation officials details are scant. Another muni rider told us what he saw and heard. I saw three transit workers talking and one of them was sitting on the steps and i overheard him say that theres a man on the tracks deceased with his left arm over his head and the transit worker describedded his position like this. The collision forced the shutdown of the powell street and civic center stations. No trains were moving underground through those two downtown stops for several hours. Above ground shuttle were offered as a replacement but they couldnt come fast enough. Like how much time is this going to set me back . Like an hour. Probably about an hour. I was headed to work and meeting friends for dinner. So im obviously im going to be late. Traffic control officers were on nearly every corner of market street. No matter what corner in San Francisco you were trying to get to, it seems like the furthest place that could possibly be. Reporting at the powell street station, dan rubin, kron4 news. A car hit a pedestrian and sent him to the hospital. The chp says it happened just after 7 30 saturday night near the stump town brewery. The Santa Rosa Press democrat reporting the pedestrian seemed in tommy indicate and he suffered a broken leg. Chp is still investigating. New four this morning, we have information on three stabbings in downtown hayward we brought to you saturday morning. One person was killed, two other stabbing victims went to the hospital. Police say that those two are not the suspects, however. Officers tell us it doesnt appear that the victims and the attackers knew each other. The stabbings happened in a parking lot used by many people in the downtown hayward area. The Police Department and the city focus on the downtown area and provide extra patrols and saturate that area with officers especially on a weekend nighttime basis when people are out and about. I would consider the downtown area as one of our safer areas. The departments gang unit is investigating the murder. Sargents tell us they have solid leads they were following up on. There is into hope for the Homeless People looking for shelter in San Francisco. They can now reserve a spot at a shelter by calling a city run service center. The new system allows any homeless person to reserve a threemonth reservation at one of the cities homeless shelters by calling 311 at any time. The 24 hour service is designed to enable easier access to people who often have to wait in long lines to secure shelter. 7 05 this sunday morning. In a jail house interview miranda barber said she killed at least 22 people from alaska to north carolina. She says all of this was part of her involvement in a satanic cult. Police are investigating those claims. Barber and her newlywed husband have been charged with killing the man they met on craigs list. Prosecutors are seeking the Death Penalty in that case. An underground Nuclear Storage facility in new mexico said to be environmentally safe. The department of energy says samples taken around the waste side show no danger to people or the environment. Those tests were taken after a monitor detected radiation at the site. Officials now looking into the reasons for that radiation leak. Thousands of connecticut residents are reportedly refusing to register their assault weapons. According to the hartford current newspaper in connecticut, a law requiring registration took effect last april. It was in response to the sandy hook massacre. Police received only 15 of the expected registration forms at the end of last year, so officials are estimating as many as 100,000 gun owners are not following the law. Temperatures this afternoon just slightly warmer than yesterdays highs were look at a lot of mid 60s for the south bay this afternoon so 65 through cuppertino, 64 expected for those in mountain view, low 60s along the delta today, 62 expected for pleasanton, also looking at low 60s along the eastbay shores hayward topping out at 62 degrees low 60s for downtown San Francisco, upper 50s for those at ocean beach and daily city and low to mid 60s in the north bay, 61 expected in petaluma, 64 for those in nappa. His patients were super star athletes and then he took his own life after becoming the target of a criminal probe. Kron4 first broke the story back in october after sources revealed that dr. Daniel did gars a, the team doctor for the 49ers and a prominent stanford researcher was under investigation for inappropriate behavior with adult interns. Yesterday morning we brought you the exclusive interviews with throw men who say they were abused by gaza nearly 20 years ago when they were High School Students and he was their teacher. Two of them reported the abuse to authorities and now kron4 Maureen Kelly tells us how the victims say their claims were brushed aside allowing him to avoid prosecution. Its a story youll see only on 4. I actually woke up with my shirt off and his hand in my genitals, on my genitals and him sort of rubbing himself. Reporter he was their trusted high school teacher, they thought they were helping him with a science project involving Young Athletes but it turned out not to be so he victimized them. Thats the claim coming from two men im calling peter and john in order to protect their identity. They say they were juniors at Cathedral High School and all boys Catholic School in el paso, texas when they were recruited by dr. Daniel gaza to participate in a research experiment. It happened while under his supervision during out of state trips. He suggested they inhale a drug as part of the testing, a potent anesthetic which when given in high enough concentration renders one completely unconscious. Peter agreed to inhale the vapor once he came out to find his teacher molesting him. I woke up in the middle of his experiment and he was just sort of fondling me and with himself, that was very traumatic for a young man. John did not agree to be gassed but says he woke up with the doctor trying to hold a wash rag covered with what he thinks was the drug to his face. He was able to fight him off but he still feels the sting of being betrayed by a man he thought was his mentor. I know what its like to have a kid look at me and just knowing that i have this kids every ounce of trust and knowing how precious of a thing that is for him to do what he did just doesnt even seem human, you know . Ive had kids look at me like im sure ive looked at him and he still found it okay to just absolutely abuse that trust. Peter and john told officials at their high school what gars a did. At first little was done about it. They asked me what i wanted. Im a junior in high school and they are wanting me to make the decision as far as how things were handled and that i was sort of swept under the rug and nothing came of it after that. The victims Say School Officials merely ordered gaza to stay away from them but someone leaked a story to the media and it made headlines in 1994. The newspaper article you see here does not name gars a. It states that Cathedral High School put the accused teacher on administrative leave after the incident made paper, gaza left cathedral. The students were shunned by their classmates for driving away a popular teacher. I felt like people looked at me like i had created this. Those in charge at cathedral high when the incident being took place have since died. The current administrators had no comment because both incidents happened across state lines the victims say the fbi was brought in. Peter and john both remember being interviewed by a federal agent but as far as they know the case wasnt pursued. The fbi says without any sort of proof he cant just say you caught him feeling you up and saw him feeling himself up and then extrapolate that he drugged. I bet you this will happen again if somebody digs into it further and they felt they couldnt at that point. We asked el paso, texas police and the fbi to search their records for gazas name but nothing turned up. A man claiming to be a former associate of his from that time says gaza was afraid peter and johns allegations would keep him from being admitted into stanford medical school. He not only got in, he stayed their his entire career eventually becoming a Popular Associate professor and researcher in sports medicine. Bank in san leandro february 6. Police say hes connected to robbing the same bank and along with the banc of America Branch back in january. A man is in jail for locking himself inside a redwood city bar. Police say that paul mcnerny refused to leave the bar yesterday. He locked out the owner from his own bar. Thats when Authorities Say mcnerny said well, call the swat team if she wants him to leave and thats what the owner did so when officers arrived mcnerny wasnt reachable by phone. There was a standoff and he was taken into custody and charged with trespassing. A warning this morning from police about a scam targeting taxpayers. The irs says its received several reports of people getting calls from scammers telling them to make payments with the Prepaid Debit Card or a wire transfer. The victims who dont cooperate are told they could lose their drivers license or be arrestedded. Many of the calls have targeted recent imigrantses to the u. S. The irs says people who owe back taxes are usually contacted first by mail and agents never asked for credit card numbers over the phone. Community activists and local Union Members have kicked off an effort to raise the minimum wage in the city of oakland to 12. 25 an hour. Its a campaign to gather signatures for a measure on the november ballot. That measure would include sick leave for minimum wage workers. They claim that this would prevent sick workers from infecting others and allow parents to stay home with Sick Children instead of sending them off to school. Its very difficult particularly in the bay area. Nobody can make it on 8 an hour or 9 an hour, even 10 an hour. 12. 25 an hour at least is a great starting point so we can begin to work on income equity. So we believe this is going to be a boost for the economy, you put the money in the hands of working class people they go out and buy lunch at their local restaurants, buy dinner. A man was arrested saturday for em bezelling thousands of dollars from the golf club he managed. Neil bently morton worked at the tahema golf club in caramel booked in the Monterey County jail on 16 counts of forgery, embezzlement and grand theft of over 33,000. An American Airlines official says a flight from chicago to london had to make an Emergency Landing so the crew could kickoff an unruly passenger. The man who reportedly refused to listen to the flight crews instructions so the plane had to land in new finland where the man was handed over to local authorities. A spokesman for American Airlines did not give anymore details on exactly specifically what the man did, but that flight was then able to continue on to london. A body was found in the wheel well of a South African Airlines Plane on saturday. The plane was parked at washington dulles airport. Officials say the death is under investigation. Operations at the airport were unaffected by this discovery. And california agriculture officials reporting good news for wine lovers. There is a record harvest of wine grapes this year. Growers in the nations premier wine region brought in a bumper crop last year. The state says this is thanks to expanded acreage and overall favorable weather. Rescuers are continuing the search for two skiers who went missing after an avalanche in colorado. It happened saturday evening a couple of hours outside of denver. Officials say seven people were on top of a ridge where the avalanche happened. Three people sufferedded broken bones, two of them walked away unharmed. The others are unaccounted for this morning. Rescue crews busy trying to figure out the best and safest way to clear the area. The lawyer for a florida man convicted of attempted murder says he plans to appeal. This comes after prosecutors say they plan to push for a retile of michael dunn. The 47 year old was convicted saturday of attempted murder. He shot into a car full of teenagers after an argument over loud music. These are new photos from inside the courthouse yesterday and one teenager wassailed in the shoot but the jury failed to agree on a murder charge against dunn. They were unable to agree on whether dunn committed murder or acted in selfdefense when he shot 17 year old jordan davis in november of 2012. Following the verdict, davis parents had this reaction. Its sad for mr. Dunn that he will live the rest of his life in that sense of forment. I believe weve stood strong in the eyes of not only jacksonvilt only florida, not only the nation, but the world is looking at all of us here in jacksonville. The jury deliberatedded for more than 30 hours over four days and they did find dunn guilty of three counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into a car but dunns Attorney Says that there was no winner in this case. The case has drawn comparison to the Trayvon Martin shooting and martins parents released a statement saying shooting is a reminder of the racial profiling and stereotypes that exist in florida. Martins parents also said the verdict does not change the fact that jordan davis parents will never see jordan again. A School Bus Driver in ohio is facing criminal charges for slapping an autistic child. The video shows the driver confronting an eight year old boy who wouldnt stop screaming. The driver said she did not know the boy was autistic and that the boy had threatened to kill her. It was just the way that the situation was handled, what she did both verbally was a concern but the physical part that upset me and i thought that once i saw that, something had to be done. The drivers plead not guilty to several change which include assault and endangering a child. Shes been suspended from her job without pay. The long awaited report on the bullying accusations inside the Miami Dolphins locker room reveals a pattern of widespread racial harassment. Nick valencia has the details. Reporter the 148 page document details continuing verbal abuse. Racial slurs, and vulgar sexual comments made about martins sister and mother, by some of his dolphins teammates. The situation first exploded last october when Miami Dolphins player martin walked off of the teams facility allegedly because of relentless bullying. He gave this interview in the fall. Ive spoken to my teammates or former teammates in other locker rooms across the nfl and asked you does this stuff go on, is this normal rookie hazing and the consensus was this is not normal. The investigative report says martin was tormented by three of the teams defensive linemen starting in his rookie season in 2012. On friday, martins agent reacted. Im just happy that were able to move forward. I think jonathan really wanted to get this behind him and start to focus on playing football in 2014. The report says Richie Incognito along with veteran john jerry and all pro mike ponci engagedded in a pattern of harassment but martin was not the only target of the abuse according to the report. The investigation uncovered another unnamed dolphins defensive lineman allegedly subjected to name calling and inappropriate physical touching and the report says an assistant trainer was the subject offer racial slurs. In the fall, richie defended himself. Im embarrassed by it and my actions but what i want people to know is the way jonathan and the rest of the offensive line and how our teammates how we communicate its vulgar. Its not right. When the words are put in the context, i understand why a lot of eye brows get raced but people dont know how john and i communicate to one another. According to the report martin says he was driven into depression and believed his failure to stand up cto his teammates was a personal short coming, as he tried to fit in. The New York Daily News reports she fell in front of an on coming subway train after she was texting as walking on the platform. We begin this hour with developing news where 19 people are without a home this morning after their apartment went up in flames. Kron4 has more now from san jose. Just a terrible start to the morning for several of the residents that live in this fourunit Apartment Building behind me. Here near the corner of tucson here in san jose. As the upper level apartment catches fire early this morning. San jose fire crews responded to calls around 3 00 this morning. They came on scene and found smoke coming from a second story apartment. Crews put out the fire, although it spread through the walls. Damaging two of the four apartments. No one was injured, but residents credit their neighbors for alerting them to the neighbor. Angels, they came and knocked and pounded on the door and woke us up. What did they tell you . That there was smoke coming out of the building, so we right away vacate the building. Fire crews believe this is an accidental fire. The cause is still under investigation. While a fire was contained to two of the four apartments. All four are not livable this morning because fire crews had to shut off power and gas lines to the entire complex. The red cross is here on scene helping the 19 people displaced by this Early Morning blaze. In san jose, kron4 news. Also new this morning, the Fire Department investigating a house fire last night. It happened along the 2800 block of calhoun street. Take a look at the picture. The blaze broke out about 11 20, was contained a short time later. It started when a paper bag was placed on top of a floor furnace. Fire Department Says no injuries reported and the estimated costs of the damage is about 25,000. A deadly muni accident brought light rail to a halt at a major station in San Francisco on saturday. Police still investigating how a man got on the tracks at the powell street station. The incident happened about 2 40 saturday afternoon. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Details, however, are scarce at this point. People close to the scene describe what they saw. I saw three mta transit workers talking and one of the men were in there standing on the steps and i overheard him say that theres a man on the tracks deceased with his left arm over his head and the transit worker described the position like this. Incident caused the closure of the powell street and Civic Center Muni stations. They were closed for four hours yesterday. Ground shuttles were offered as a replacement during the closure, but they were very congested due to the Chinese New Year celebration. New information this morning on the three stabbings in downtown heyward that we brought to you on kron4 weekend saturday morning. One person was killed, two other stabbing victims went to the hospital. Police say that those two are not the suspects, however, officials tell us that it doesnt appear that the victims and the attackers knew each other. The stabbings happened in a parking lot used by many people in the downtown area. The heyward Police Department and the city focus on the downtown area. We provide extra patrols and saturate that area with officers, especially the weekend nighttime basis when people are out and about. Probably one of our safer areas. The departments gang unit is investigating the murder. Sergeant tells us that they have solid leads that they are following up on. Also developing news this morning, Oakland Police investigating a shooting in the city of santa fe neighborhood. Happened about 6 00 in the evening. Officers found one victim suffering from a gun shot wound. The victim is expected to survive. Police still searching for a gunman this morning. And a man said to be responsible for three robberies is in jail this morning. His name is michael petio and arrested for robbing a u. S. Bank in san leandro back on february 6. Police say he is connected to robbing the same bank as well as bank of America Branch back in january. And a man is in jail this morning for locking himself inside a redwood city bar. Police say that paul refused to leave the bar yesterday and locked the owner out of his establishment. Authorities say he said, you should call the swat team if you want me to leave. Thats what the owner did. When officers arrived, he wasnt reachable by phone, there was a standoff and he was taken into custody. Eventually, he has been charged with trespassing. Theres new hope for Homeless People looking for shelter in San Francisco. They can now reserve a spot at a shelter by calling a city run service center. The new system allows any homeless person to reserve a three month reservation at one of the citys homeless shelters by calling 311 at any time. The 24 hour service is designed to enable easier access for people who have to wait in long lines lines in order to secure shelter. Well, we are talking politics now and joining us to talk about that is a political analyst, michael, and michael, well start with news out of washington and thats a surprising debt ceiling vote. It wasnt too surprising. I dont think republicans had the stomach to go through another debacle that sent their polls spiraling downward. They are on top right now. They want to keep it that way. What you see between now and november is the republicans increasingly clearing the decks of things that could distract away from their message for the fall, which is all about the problems with obama care. And so in a way, is this seen as a blow to the tea party . Well you know, the question is, is the tea party all about Immediate Gratification or Long Term Strategy involved there . Theres some question about whether or not. I think in when people look at this in retrough spect, if the republicans do well in the midterms, you know, the issue will be, will more tea parties be elected as a result . That will be the real issue later on and if thats the case, if their primaries or moderate republicans get taken out by tea parties and win in the general, he has a bigger problem. Right now, this is all about trying to get republican majority, increase the republican majority in 2014 and to try and take the senate. Yeah, one thing about what is going on in washington, what you mentioned about clearing the decks of all these issues, thats where the immigration bill falls into place. John boehner floating an idea about Immigration Reform and then abruptly reverses course. Says in a very strange way, i dont trust the president to enforce the law. Does it seem like a reach . It is absolutely all about clearing the decks. Now thats a risky move in some ways. They are banking on the fact that people are not going to be wanting to get out in a midterm election, the excitement isnt there. Obama isnt on the campaign trail. The latina vote wont be a factor because of the absence of an Immigration Reform vote. The president late last week also came out and said that he believes in Immigration Reform bill will pass by 2017. Right. Before the end of his term. He is conceding the fact that he does not set the agenda in congress, but there is will to get it done. Theres no will to get it done in any way that impacts an election. Of course, if it were to go beyond 2015 and into toward the president ial election, that may complicate things as well. Sure. One thing that came up with this talking about immigration is that the rank in file g. O. P. Was saying that john boehner could lose his speakership if he chose to push Immigration Reform. Yeah, i think that is probably true in some ways. I mean, the threat would certainly be there. And again, this is all about just tamping down rebellion. Tamping down any controversy. Keeping their eye on the prize and that is to just keep every issue that could possibly inflame or divide the Republican Party off the table. Until the midterms. Lets talk about ron paul for a second. He has been in the headlines a lot lately and now he is bringing back the spectrum of monica lewinsky. If you want to be cynical, there are two ways to look at it. He, right now, believes hes in a twoperson competition with ted cruz in the u. S. Senate. And he was seeing that he was watching the debt ceiling debate coming up. He starts bringing up monica lewinsky. When you think about it, trying to tie Hillary Clinton to the whole monica lewinsky, bill clon ton, didnt work back in the late 90s. Didnt work in 2008. Isnt going to work in 2016. But it keeps him relevant and keeps him in the headlines and it feeds the red meat machine for the right wing that he and ted cruz are going to be fighting for. So this is a calculate ed ploy on his part. And whats really unfortunate is that the media jumped all over it and now they are doing retrough spect, where is monica now, and it was very cynical. It was designed to hurt hillary and designed to keep his name in the paper. But it has very little relevance to what is going to happen in the 2016 election. Did it work . Community activists and local Union Members kicked off an effort to raise the minimum wank wage wage. Its a campaign to gather signatures on a measure. That measure would include sick leave for minimum wage workers. Its very difficult, particularly in the bay area. Nobody can make it on 8 an hour, or 9 an hour, even 10. 12. 25 is a great starting point so we can work on income equity. A warning this morning from police about a scam that is targeting taxpayers. The irs saying it received several reports of people getting calls from scammers who tell them to make a payment with a Prepaid Debit Card or wire transfer. Victims who dont cooperate are told they could lose their drivers license or be arrested. Many of the calls have targeted recent immigrants to the u. S. The irs says the people who owe back taxes are contacted first by mail and they remind everyone that agents never ask for credit card numbers over the phone. The Fire Department tells me two of the four units sustained heavy smoke and water damage. Fire crews responded just after 3 00 this morning to tucson drive. They found smoke coming from a second story apartment with the flames traveling through the wall and also impacting a bottom unit. Fortunately, everyone got out safely as neighbors knocked on doors to get people out, but residents are trying to pick up the pieces of what is left inside their apartment. Theres damage. Other news this morning, rescuers planning to resume searching at first life for two skiers who went missing in colorado. It happened saturday evening a couple hours outside of denver. Rescue crews say they are busy trying to figure out the best and safest way to clear that area. This after prosecutors plan to push for a retrial of michael dunn. The 47yearold was convicted saturday of attempted murder. He shot into a car full of teenagers after an argument over loud music. Taking a look at new photos from inside the courtroom yesterday. One teenager was killed in the shooting, but the jury failed to agree on a murder charge against dunn. They were also unable to agree on whether dunn committed murder or acted in selfdefense when he shot 17yearold, jordan davis back in november of 2012. Following the verdict, davis parents had this reaction. Its sad for mr. Dunn that he will live the rest of his life in that sense of torment. I believe we stood strong in the eyes not only jacksonville, not only florida, not unlet only the nation, but the world is looking at us in jacksonville. The jury deliberated over 40 hours. They found dunn guilty of three counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into a car. But dunns Attorney Says there was no winner in this case. This case is drawn comparisons to the Trayvon Martin shooting. Martins parents releasing a statement saying the shooting is a reminder of the racial profiling and stereotypes that exist in florida. Another round of snow is hitting new england and some forecasts call for a foot of new snow for the region. This weekends snowstorm follows another storm that brought snow and ice to the east coast. It caused 25 deaths and left hundreds of thousands of people without power. Parts of new york and vermont ended up with 2 feet of snow. And the second heavy snowfall this month hit eastern japan, causing major Power Outages and more deaths from snow related accidents. As many as 12 people have died there. 1500 have been injured nationwide since friday. Look at the traffic jam. Thousands of drivers and passengers trapped for hours on highways prompting transportation officials to deliver food and portable toilets to the highways in some areas. Nearly 20,000 homeowners lost electricity. Hundreds of flights and trains also affected by the storm. Parts of the uk are also in the grip of severe flooding this weekend. This comes after the wettest january in more than two centuries. And the month of february hasnt brought any relief so far. Warnings are in place along the river valley to the west of london and southwest and Central England as well. Rivers are over flowing their banks and flooding the streets. The countrys Environmental Agency is warning residents that the flood risk will continue for another week. Residents desperate to hold back the rising waters are using sandbags to protect the entrances to their homes and businesses. And making matters even worse, more rain is in the forecast this weekend and thats expected to push river levels even higher. Investigators have not been able to identify the victim. So far no suspects have been brought to brought to custody. The park will be open today as they continue to investigate the incident. 19 people with without a home after their apartment caught on fire last night. Reporter a fire broke out inside 2story apartment last night. They credit their neighbors for knocking on the door and alerting them to the blaze. The fire crews tell me there is heavy smoke and water damage to 2 of the 4 apartments in this building. Firefighters arrived just after 3 00 this morning and found the blaze. Crews contained the blaze but had to turn off gas and water. It includes 2 dogs, 19 people, and 9 children. A lot of hotels dont accept pets. So we have to find hotels that will allow us to put pets in. Reporter the Fire Department tells me they believe the fire is accidental but the cause is under investigation this morning. A deadly accident brought light rail to a halt in San Francisco. Police still investigating how a man got on the tracks at a station. It happened about 2 40 saturday afternoon. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. People close to the scene describe what they say. I saw 3 mta workers talking and 1 man was standing on the steps and i overheard him saying theres a man on the trucks deceased and he said he was like this. Reporter the incident caused a closure of the stations. They were shut down for about 4 hours. Shuttles were offered as a replacement, but streets were congested due to the Chinese New Year celebration. New information on 3 stabbings in downtown hayward. 1 was killed. 2 others went to the hospital. Those 2 are not suspects. It doesnt appear the victims and the attackers knew each other. It happened in a parking lot in the downtown area. The hayward Police Department and the city focus on the downtown area and saturate that area with officers especially on the weekend. We consider the area one of the safer areas. Reporter the gang unit is investigating the murder. They have solid leads theyre following. Also Oakland Police investigating a shooting in the city santa fe area last night. They found 1 victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He is expected to survive. Police are searching for a gunman. And a man responsible for 3 robberies is in jail. He was arrested for robbing a u. S. Bank back on february 6. Hes connected to the robbing of the same bank branch back in january. And a man is in jail this morning for locking himself inside a redwood city bar. Paul mcnerny refused to leave the bar yesterday and locked out the owner. Thats when Authorities Say he told the owner to call the swat team, so thats what she did. Officers arrived and he was not available by phone, so after a standoff he was taken into custody. Theyre supposed to have the underpinning of the roadways is a steel box, and its not supposed to leak. Theres lots of water in there. This is something that the were concerned about early on in terms of the way it was being built. They talked to the contractoruct the issue of about the issue of sealing, and giving the problems with the bolts and the rods, you would think theyd want to test it out. Any change they made because theyve been having problems all along, but they didnt do that. I dont know how much it takes to take a hose and spray it and see if something leaks. If you do it on your kitchen sink, the first thing you do is do a test to see if its water tight. They should have done that. What about sacramento . Its going to be at the state legislature. I think theyre still trying to figure out what is the problem. After that theyd figure out, what is a solution . And hopefully its not 25 million. Its going to cost some money and that will come out of all of us who use the bridge. You mention the shortterm fix of the bolts. They still havent figured it out. I dont know whether its like the more you complicate the pluming the easier it is to stop the drain, but theres going to be a lot of oversight but infrachicagoture is important for the state. And certainly this is not a good case study of how to do is directly. Its not cost efficient in terms of time. Right near the bay bridge were talking about Treasure Island and the continuing problems there with radioactive materials being found. The latest news was this week. It seems to go on and on. When i was involved with a lot of the closure of Treasure Island and with commerce and the board of supervisors, to be very honest, i was part of the group that tried to get a lot of homeless folks on the island as housing. But what we didnt know time is that theres a lot of debris burying going on and a lot of radioactive dials. They use it for other navy ships and theyre finding bits and pieces of it all over the place. Id be concerned from a health point of view for the people there. There are a lot of Homeless People there. How are we going to get them to move off the island. But thats not a good answer. You cant expose people to bad health. I think one of the problems with the navy is having a transient population, you never had people there more than 2 or 3 years so people couldnt determine whether or not there was longterm health hazards. If theyre finding these things, there needs to be better discussion. More health experts. If im a resident out there and you can see it from some of the reports, theyre scared and worried. Parts of new york and vermont ended up with 2 feet of snow. And the second heavy snowfall this month has hit eastern japan. Its causing major Power Outages and deaths. As many as 20 people have died. Thousands of drivers and passengers were trapped for hours on the highways prompting transportation to deliver toilets and food to some areas. Reporter the Campaign Needs to collect 21,000 signatures in order to make the november ballot. A warning this morning from police about a scam that targets taxpayers. The irs says its receiving several reports of people getting calls telling them to make payments with a Prepaid Debit Card or wire transfer. Theyre told they could lose their drivers license or be arrested if they dont cooperate. The irs says people are first contacted by mail and agents will never ask for credit card numbers over the phone. 19 people are without a home after their Apartment Building caught fire in san jose. Reporter the red cross has left this apartment complex. They managed to find a hotel for those who need it. 19 people are displaced including 2 dogs and 9 children. The fire was inside this apartment. Fire crews arrived to the 5700 block of tucson drive this morning. They found smoke coming from the apartment and the fire also burned down into the bottom unit. While theres smoke and water damage, fortunately there are no injuries. Some are thanking their neighbors for that. My neighbors, the angels. They knocked on the door and woke us up. What did they say . Theres smoke coming out of the building. We ran away. Reporter while the fire damaged 2 apartments, all 4 are deemed not livable. They shut off fire and gas as a precaution until they inspect them. The red cross was here helping the 19 people displaced and while fire crews tell me this is an accident, the cause remains under investigation this morning. Rescuers plan to resume searching for 2 skiers who went missing after an avalanche in colorado saturday evening a couple of hours outside of denver. Officials say 7 people were on top of the ridge when the avalanche happened. 2 walked away unharmed. The others remain unaccounted for. They have to figure out the best and safest way to clear the area. A new york city woman is recovering this morning after texting made her fall in front of a subway drain. Liza dye fell in front of a train as she was texting while walking. The first car injured her legs. She would have died if she was not positioned between the 2 steel rails. Shes a comedian and already joking about the situation. She says blast off. An American Airlines official says a flight from london to chicago had to make an Emergency Landing to eject a passenger. The man refused to listen to instructions. They landed in finland and he was handed over to authorities. They did not give any more details. The flight continued onto london. A body was found in the wheel well of a south american plane on sunday. It was parked at the airport. Officials say the death is under investigation. Operations were uneffected by this discovery. We have this bizarre story from pennsylvania where a woman charged with murdering a man says shes also killed more than 20 other people. In a jail house interview, she says she killed at least 22 people from alaska to north carolina. She says this is part of her ininvolvement in a satanic colt. Prosecutors are seeking the Death Penalty in the case. The lawyer for a florida man convicted of attempted murder says he plans to appeal. Michael dunn was convicted saturday of attempted murder. He shot into a car full of teenagers after an argument over loud music. This is photos from inside the court house. 1 teen was killed, but the jury failed to agree on a murder charge against dun. They were also unable to figure out if it was murder or selfdefense. Daviss parents gave their reaction. Its sad for mr. Dun that he will live the rest of his life in that sense of torment. It came from me and my cofounders volunteering. We were trying to figure out better ways to volunteer. More efficient ways to get involved. Also to actually get out there and invite other people to get involveded with us. Theres so many fun opportunities out there that people dont realize how easy it is to make new friends and learn new skill sets and learn about a whole new world. In a very short amount of time, youve been able to partner up with 500 different nonprofits. Yes. We have several hundred act ive volunteer opportunities on the site ranging from 1time events to reoccurring to skillbased volunteer opportunities. One thing you were telling me is its sometimes difficult for people to volunteering. Its like, hey, im here. But not so fast. Yeah. Its interesting because peopley assume if they make the leap of choice it will be so easy. There is some pain points. Theres a very famous friends episode where they got denied for trying to volunteer at a soup kitchen. Its pretty common. There are some things you need to do.
