Tonight, investigators are trying to piece together how a police stop turned deadly. Tonight an officerinvolved shooting investigation in the middle of highway 85. A line of cops. The cars had caution tape on it. Reporter San Jose Police say when officers pulled a car over around 3 00 this afternoon, a man in the passenger seat pulled out a handgun. Police say thats when one officer shot and killed the suspect. The officers were not hurt. Chp shut down this section of southbound highway 85 near saratoga so the Santa Clara County d. A. s office and the homicide unit could safely investigate. That left hundreds of drivers grinding through gridlock. This woman says it took her more than a half hour to drive about a mile. Yeah. Whats happening . For a portion of i80 at the berkeley curve, i moved our emeryville camera around there. Behind my name its cleared, we see the berkeley curve, for folks in the commute headed out of berkeley and bay bridge. You see the stream of headlights and the flashing lights, thats eastbound 880 away from the been been to the berkeley curve that is completely blocked from what im told and i can see. There is a crash, minor injuries. Were checking with chp how long are they anticipating it takes to clear this crash. Lot of folks were able to get to southbound 880 coming off of the bridge itself. The problem is the backup thats forming there toward the berkeley curve off of the bay bridge itself. Were tracking that for the crash. Meanwhile the approach to the bay bridge is fine. let s start our coverage with chief meteorologist, jeff ranieri who s tracking what s left of tonight s storm. it was a quick blast of winter weather tonight that brought more rainfall in 24 hours than we saw for all of december. you can see the loop here from this evening showing some of the heaviest rainfall from the peninsula and downpours from the south bay to the east bay. in terms of the totals, some of the highest coming from the the east bay, .56 from oakland,.5 from foster city. on the radar right now we re still dealing with areas of rainfall in the east bay. this is the last leg of consistent rain moving through concord, pleasanton, and back into livermore and down from san jose stretching to morganton as well. tomorrow morning, the rainfall will be less than coverage. a few scattered showers at 9:00 a.m. check this out, by 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night a brand new storm moves into the bay area. i have the full time line track on this at 11:19 tonight. rain here, sn
