This afternoon, they announced that this is now a homicide and arson investigation. Reporter on the weekend of september 12th, Adam Buchanan, his seven year old son gavin, and gavins mother molly mcafee went to stay in the familys cabin near georgetown in El Dorado County. They havent been heard from since. Reporter the El Dorado County Sheriffs Office says that the cabin burned down on september 13th and that human remains have been found inside. Reporter initially we thought it was fact have three sets of remains. Reporter the Sheriffs Office and the El Dorado County District Attorneys Office also now believe that the cabin was intentionally set on fire and that the people inside were murdered. Reporter the Coroners Office has not yet identified the remains and says it could take some time to complete dna testing. The Sheriffs Office has also not identified any suspects or motives in the killings. They do believe that this is an isolated event and that neighbors are not in danger reporter the general public does not need to worry about their safety. Since the cabin burned down, El Dorado County sheriffs investigators have searched the family home and the offices of a Construction Business owned by buchanan.
