right now we're looking at some lighter stuff out there. it's coming down, though, across the bay area. we do have very wet. well, roadways again, especially for the north bay couple of spots on roads. so watch for some localized flooding increase risk of hydroplaning san jose down to fremont some of our wettest conditions currently. now we are seeing heaviest of rainfall settled on into the sierra foothills snow up in our higher elevations of the sierra nevada. overall, spotty showers for the bay area. and that's something that we're going to see today. a lot of spotty showers, heaviest of rain is up in sonoma and napa counties, but it pushes right down into the bay area. resurgence of heavy rain tonight and on into tomorrow morning, the very heaviest of it. this is where that risk of flooding really starts to increase. we have flood advisories go into effect tonight at 10:00pm lasting through tomorrow night across the entire of the bay area. and we are seeing a series of storms just adding up an additional 3 to 6 inches of rainfall possible on top of already saturated soil is increasing overnight. our risk of flooding and landslides, heavy rainfall overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. really, that the eye of the storm, you could say before we see even more rainfall into next week. now, as far as temperatures go, we are in the 50's oakland at 54 conquered. 56. so now we're at 54 degrees as well. it's a pretty pleasant and mild morning. it's just wet out there. so get those layers on today. we will see spotty showers, rain increases overnight tonight. that's where that flooding risk really comes into play again. that's during overnight hours tonight into tomorrow morning. got plenty more details about what to expect. they're all still to come right now. don't have a roof over their heads. proffers justin campbell was in san jose with services that are now being made available after some recent deaths. so far, at least 4 and house people have died county is sounding the alarm saying unhoused people should not try to write out the chilly temperatures and rain. it's too dangerous one that on shelter. community member had died. the santa clara medical examiner is investigating that person's death as cold related. this after at least 3 on housed mean died in the freezing cold 2 weeks ago. the county is opening its libraries for people to use during the day county libraries are operating you know, their normal library and we encourage all of our community members to go there. if they need a place to for respite from cold and wet weather. short list right here on our screen and we have more locations and other details over on our website at kron 4 dot com. developing news now from berkeley. the la times is reporting that the berkeley city manager dee williams, riley knew about harassment allegations against the person appointed as interim police chief but didn't tell anybody. the original report claims that in 2017, the city of berkeley hired an outside law firm to investigate accusations that the interim chief jennifer lewis sexually harassed several women while alleged victims included a berkeley officer who accuse lewis of making some inappropriate comments at a party. the report also claims lewis was disciplined for violating city policy. now the city manager reportedly failed to disclose those allegations to the city council. or the police accountability board before they appointed louis berkeley's mayor calls the allegations of concern saying that they can't be ignored. well in oakland, police are now investigating the death of a 2 year-old boy. the child's body was found last friday in a ruel part of napa. oakland's police chief gave us an update on that investigation. gayle ong has an update on that story. >> this is a tragic case of the 2 old child. this should not have happened. oakland police chief leronne armstrong providing an update thursday about the homicide of a 2 year-old boy. >> killed in oakland. his body was found in rule. napa county chief armstrong says opd received a tip from san pablo police just before 02:30am, in the morning on december. 23rd. >> our investigators immediately begin follow up on all leads. the investigation eventually led us to napa county where investigators located the body of 2 year-old jamari mac its chief. armstrong says the child's body was found outdoors. >> the circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation. the chief would only say the suspect in custody is close to the family and the child. heartbreaking. >> ashley mccullough is a family friend watching morning. >> you know, even when i was at the home yesterday, speak up, just out, enjoy that. he bought in the home missing. that's out of having little guy running around was just very painful. chief armstrong says the suspect is being held on unrelated charges to this case. opd is working with the alameda county da to determine charges to be filed for the murder of the child. it's just >> anybody close friend anybody all, you know, with family to have to do something like this. if we can just keep this in prayer. >> the coroner has not released the child's cause of death. anyone with information about this case is asked to contact oakland police in the newsroom. gayle ong kron. 4 news. well, in an unrelated case on the very same day, the body of 2 year old jamari napkins. >> was discovered. san francisco police also found 2 young girls dead inside their san francisco home. well, officials say they're not homicide, that they're not connected, but they are homicides. the victims have been identified as a one year-old baby name paragon. a 5 year-old girl named justice. they were found inside their baby home on navy road last week. well, police have arrested 34 year old polly should green pulliam on murder charges. this is a photo of her handcuffed in court yesterday. she's scheduled to be arraigned on friday. a man is dead and another is in custody after shooting at a san francisco home that happened wednesday morning on willard north right near usf campus. police say 41 year-old said to do was found dead and the suspect as 50 year-old monroe. there are no details on what led up to that shooting. for the second day in a row bar. police say narcan was used to treat someone who appeared to be overdosing. the latest incident happening wednesday night at the civic center station and san francisco. police say officer gave him an one dose to revive them. according to police, the man refused further medical assistance and then walked away. the department of justice is suing a drug wholesaler claimed it helped fuel the country's deadly opioid crisis in its civil lawsuit. the doj claims the medical distributor amerisourcebergen violated its legal duty by failing to report thousands of suspicious opioid orders to law enforcement. according to that complaint executives, new prescription pills shipped to florida and virginia are being diverted, end quote, sold in parking lots for cash. the company released a statement denying any wrongdoing. the doj says amerisource could face billions of dollars in penalties. and the north bay pg e has started paying out to sonoma county, not profit to help people affected by the kincade fire of 2018. you might recall that fire burned for more than 15 days in sonoma county destroyed hundreds of buildings and more than 200,000 people had to be evacuated. well, this is the first payment under a court mandated order which was part of pg and e settlement with sonoma county earlier this year pg and e will be making these payments for 5 years pg e is also on the hook for more than 13 million dollars in payments to sonoma county organizations. well, a big story we are following out of oakland. it appears the wrong person was certified as the winner of a school board election. now the problem, the votes were not counted properly. four's ella sogomonian talk to the real winner, mike hutchinson, who consulted with a lawyer and has to go to court on his own dime to right this wrong. but he insists that the revelation is proof at the system in place is in fact, working. >> the alameda county registrar of voters admits initial results in a tight race used to certify nick resnick as the oakland school board member for district 4 were not correct. that incumbent mike hutchinson, the candidate who first showed finishing in 3rd place in the ranked choice voting system is a real victor. i really want to stress this is a correction of an error. >> and so i think a really good sign that our system is working and it only impacted a very small number of votes. he says an organization called fair vote didn't audit, which is how this all came to light. >> according to the registrar's office, the algorithm miss some ballots, which didn't have a ftrst choice selected just a second or 3rd. so they weren't counted when they instead should have been counted by reverting to the second choice to act as a first choice. now that the real winners revealed the trouble is the original results from the election. we're already certified. so under the current process, hutchinson will have to contest them before a judge before resnick is sworn in on january. 9th. roe v reps say that they are working with their vendor to provide safeguards so that this does not happen in future elections sure that this was the only race and alameda county affected by the problem. well, that was kron four's ella sogomonian reporting for us this morning. of high street. so you're going to want to probably take to get navigate or highway one. 85, as you're traveling through the maze this morning, hopefully they're able to get that accident off of the highway. but for right now, all lanes are blocked. 80 northbound south of high street. right on days like this when the weather is particularly wet. >> you get accidents out there. so you have to leave early drive slow also factor in that part could be running slow. looks like they're going to have about 20 10 minute delays and just expect that. i'm john, the question on i want to know is how long is it going to stay rainy cause new new year's just around the corner. that's a big reminder right there that even early this morning, we already have an entire highway blocked off. so later on as the commute picks up, really going to be looking at that risk of a whole lot of issues beginning to pile up more and more as roadways out there. just so very saturated. now we're going to see spotty showers throughout the course of the morning. and then the heaviest of rainfall. >> overnight tonight into tomorrow. and that is really going to up your risk of flooding as we do move our way through this forecast. pier 15, you've got a little bit of movement on the flag right there. but we are seeing the heaviest of rainfall to the north of us in to the east of us right now, the atmospheric river, the moisture plume from the system is center right up square at the northern california, oregon border where we are seeing that heaviest and most widespread of rain. we've certainly tapped into plenty of moisture here further south, but nothing like we're seeing for north coast neighbors just yet that moisture plume does gradually shift further and further southward as it does. we're going to be in that bull's eye region of heavy, heavy rainfall into our overnight hours of tonight. let's take a look at future cast. and you can see those spotty showers that will be seeing throughout the course of the morning throughout the course of the day at times, some heavy rainfall pushing in. this is around 03:00pm pockets of heavy rain for the north bay drifting into the rest of the bay area right there in the middle of your evening right there. as for. what we see as the sun goes down, pockets of heavy rain continuing and then really picking up post midnight into early tomorrow morning that very heaviest of rainfall can be expected, really starting to pile up for a lot of the bay area that is going to leave its mark with the potential of flooding. some small stream flooding. if you're in an area with poor drainage is also a risk. there. middle of the day tomorrow, especially mid afternoon. we really clear things up quickly. this sets us up nicely for new year's eve. nice and dry for new year's eve and staying dry into new year's day on monday, additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is possible. really expecting a big hit of rain for the santa cruz mountains and we could see some impact on some burn scars down there. as we do see so much rain in such a short period of time on into next week. adding on top of that, an additional 7 to even 10 inches of rainfall for some spots in the bay area. possible flooding resulting in these flood watches taking effect tonight at 10:00pm lasting through saturday night. as for what we've got today for daytime highs, it's a lot of low 60's were a little bit more mild out there. this is a fairly mild storm. we're going to be in those low 60's into tomorrow, too. before we gradually cool things down into next leader of the free world does not fully trust those whose job it is to keep them safe. there's a new book that claims president biden is suspicious of some of the secret service agents coffers. evan lambert has that story for us. >> a new book about president biden obtained by our partners at the hill bringing up striking claims about his relationship with the men and women on his secret service detail. the book, the fight of his life, which comes out january 17th is written by author and journalist chris whipple. among the claims that the president has trust issues with some of the agents tasked with protecting him because some are big supporters of former president trump. one such passage reads, quote, a bigger problem was biden's discomfort with his secret service detail. some of them were maggots sympathizers. he didn't trust them. according to whipple's reporting for the book, whipple gives contacts for biden's alleged feelings, writing, quote, the secret service is full of white ex cops from the south who tend to be deeply conservative, end quote, another famous episode between biden and the secret service is documented in the book. the incident happened in march 2021. when biden's rescue german shepherd major bit an agent inside the white house. although the white house admitted the incident, the book says biden didn't believe some of the details saying, quote, somebody was lying. biden thought about the way the incident had gone down in response to the allegations in the book. a white house spokesperson tells news nation, quote, we respect that there will be no shortage of books written about the administration containing a wide variety of claims. we don't plan to engage in confirmations are denials when it comes to the specifics of those claims. the author did not give us a chance to verify the materials that are attributed here. and white house officials directed us to an august press briefing where press secretary karine jean pierre responded to questions about the president's trust in the secret service. this after reporting about january 6th related text messages that agents delete it. and the last question is, yes, he has confidence in the book. in national news. former president trump's tax returns are about to become public after years of controversy surrounding them. house democrats on the ways and means committee who voted to release the documents along with a report that accuses the irs failing to audit incorrectly. washington correspondent anna wiernicki joining us with the latest. good morning, anna. morning. that's right. in just a few hours, the public will see 6 years of former president donald trump's federal tax returns. now. >> this highly anticipated release comes after years of trump refusing to release his financial records. >> 6 years of former president donald trump's personal and business tax records will be made public friday morning. despite years of the former president fighting to keep those records secret, there is something clearly wrong here. california democrat judy chu who voted to release the documents from the hands of the house ways and means committee says the returns show the irs failed to properly audit trump's taxes while in office which is mandatory for any president. the american have a right to know about this alarming state, not compliance. the committee released a summary report last week revealing that from 2015 to 2020 trump claimed millions of dollars in losses that reduce the amount of taxes he had to pay sometimes all the way to certainly 100% politically motivated. republicans expressed outreach over the committee's decision to make trump's returns public. this committee action will set a terrible precedent. >> it unleashes a dangerous new political weapon, but democrats say their goal is ensuring the laws and tax system are equally applied to all. this was never about being punitive. it was never about being malicious. >> the documents are set
