We are skipping their first glance of the sunshine here this morning, which is a welcome sight for southwest floridians waking up to all this damage. What youre hearing behind me is the fire alarms shifting going off for hours now and this vote, the force of the storm pushed it into the Department Building here. One lady told me it sounded like a gunshot. Every time the boat would bang into a stairwell here in the patio on the second floor, there are several cars back there. As far search and rescue efforts go at Texas Task Force one deployed here to florida. They will be part of the team looking for people who tried to ride out the storm in their homes. Lee county sheriff saying at the from hurricane and just in this county could be in the hundreds. So certainly some grim news out this morning as far as getting power back on. That is a priority as much of the county is water boil your water until further notice. So we really dont know the extent of the impacts to the infrastructure right now, but we expect to find that out as the day goes on. Well send it back to you. All right. A real tough situation out there. And this is the scene in clearwater, florida. Just look at the damage done to this roadway. That road completely torn apart. A lot of rain just collecting on the roadways there. And this is just some of the damage that we are seeing today. And take a look at these images showing firefighters rescuing people in orange county, florida earlier this morning. And more images of flooding damage done to store fronts in the city of north port. And the thing is now its headed back out to sea where it is going to strengthen yet again because of that warmth of the ocean that serves as a fuel to this storm. Once its off of land and you can see the center right there off the coast of Daytona Beach throwing. Of course, all of this rain. And when i wanted to look at some of the storm reports, these are all the storm reports that have been rolling in this morning and some of the pretty impressive Daytona Beach. Wind gusts about 71 Miles Per Hour. If we zoom in, you can see here in Saint Augustine that the saint johns county, they had reported was talking about how this had had been close to the same storm surge or even exceeded at the levels of hurricane matthew, which devastated this area back in 2018. Want to take you down here where yesterday there was a tornado report. This was in june park in Brevard County and some of the wind gusts that i saw from yesterday was coming ashore. Just incredible 110 Miles Per Hour. You can see gusts in grove city and here was 124 Miles Per Hour gusts that one was in and around us alanna. So this is where it is right now. Now, Tropical Storm. But the center now picking up speed, as you can see is its back to the ocean water moving at 9 Miles Per Hour. And the track right now has it strengthening to category one and coming ashore in around charleston, south carolina. And then you can see it rolls further points. That will be friday morning. So that, of course, is where all eyes are going to be. Now, as we see this strengthening because a category one, make no mistake. And by the way, that starts at 74 Miles Per Hour is already at 70 a category one can be devastating and pretty extreme in the damage that it can do so still not out of the woods here. What isnt postcard perfect. Our Drought Monitor which hasnt changed since last week. But you can see. It is just to stay that in the bay area. Here we are in severe drought, certainly. So as we go towards the weekend, youll notice High Pressure is going to build up low pressure system to our north is going to start to track across. Were going get a little bit of offshore wind in the north bay over the weekend. It doesnt look like anything thats going to be potentially very difficult fire situation for us. But its just to let you know, we are at the time of year when were watching for this right. So while this is not going to be an extreme event, it does just speaks to the fact that we have to be mindful of that. And we have to think about this. Were making our plans for being out and about and you might want to make some plans because its gorgeous out there. As you take a live look outside at the Golden Gate Bridge is just those stunning blue skies perfect for the visitors when they come in right. But here is that low pressure system that you can see that counter clockwise circulation, the clockwise circulation, highpressure, if that low pressure where to drop down, then you would get those to kind of funneling the wind offshore. So thats why its going to be slight this time because its not quite that inside slider set up that we look for. But just a reminder, we are dry out their current temperature right now. Take a live look outside again at our beautiful blue sky. 71 in San Francisco. 67 in oakland, 70s also in san Jose Livermore concord, 77 degrees for you right now. 76 in santa rosa. It raises the question how to prevent them in the first place. Kron 4 spoke with 2 organizations working to answer that question. They both say that the best way to prevent these types of crimes is to reach out to people before they become involved with any sort of violence. Avoidable regrettable. Unnecessary we need to fix it for us to start working with our young people and try to show them away instead of letting the streets show them the way of living. Both people we spoke with say that they care about the city of oakland and theyre going to continue to fight to make it a safer place. Well, officers as well as civilians that are on the ground, not just to respond but to preemptively engage support our kids address the root causes of why theyre even picking up a gun. In the first place and really get to the heart of whats going on. Weve got to be able to i would say invest in the violence interruption programs, invest in those resources. They give our kids alternatives. Other pathways, a life that, you know, puts them and others at risk. While weve made some historic investments. Into our Department Violence prevention, intervention and healing trauma care. We need to double that. Its not enough. We need to be doing more. We need to do more in partnership usd. We put i believe 2. 4 Million Dollars into programs to really show off with restored of justice measures with training and curriculum and violence interrupters on sites and communitybased organizations. But we also need to have representation from those whove been most impacted showing up for students working with those who are most at risk and those who are exposed to violence to really come up with ways that we can mitigate and address the issues that have been involved with retaliatory practices that have not been restored of a nature. Weve not given that of activities with not giving the internships in the mentor ships to come alongside them, really support them where families have been struggle. 2 of the candidates vying for mayor. Instead, its dissected parts, lying and abandoned hangar away from public view. So she continues on her mission to restore the fountain to its full glory. Seems like. Its a part. Everything here is in a permanent state of disarray, moon to the island. The island is compared all torn up and covered with with piles of dirt.
