Deadly valley fire has been burning for more than a week and is now considered. The third most damaging wildfire in californias history. Heres where things stand tonight. The once rapidly growing fire. Is now 75percent contained. On friday, the fire was only 45 percent contained. The fire has burned more than 75thousand acres. Destroyed nearly twothousand homes. And 3thousand homes remain at risk in lake, napa and sonoma counties have been destroyed. Three people died in the fire. And four firefighters injured. Ifthe cause of the fire is still under investigation. Looters are targeting middletown residents whose homes have burned down. Richard woitas home was destroyed in the wildfire. Looters have now victimized him. On two different occasions in the past 48 hours. As kron 4s jr stone was walking with him. He realized that his familys long Wheelchair Accessible ramp pictured here. Was also. Gone. someone just stole the railing who took it . There was a railing that went like this and it was still there someone took it sought must have been here yesterday pam he says. The ramp belonged to his grandfather. Who passed down the property to him before passing away. Meanwhile. Three fires broke out this afternoon in the east and north bay. Coming dangerously comes to several homes. In fact, in fairfield. One home was gutted. And the fire could have burned more homes, if it wasnt for the quick action of fierfighters. Kron 4s alecia reid has the details on two east bay fires. Alecia one started at 230 and the other at 330. Firefighters worked fast to these under control in a short amount of time. it was really scary alecia within half hour, this blaze in martinez near carter acres lane spread 5 acres. it was a flash. It went down the hill and around the corner. Alecia it all started at this house thats under construction. Cal fire says a piece of equipment malfunctioned. With winds and dry vegetation, the fire came extremely close to homes. it wouldve circled down the hill and burned all the homes on this road. Alecia firefighters were able to get it under control, saving livestock and homes. An hour earlier, in alamo, a two story home on the 100 block of vernal drive was destroyed. It spread to nearby trees, but crews were able to stop it from threatening other homes. there is not a lot of access to bring the fire engines back and not a lot of fire engines and those are some of the issues are currently under reporting live in martinez pam new tonight. There is a growing mystery involving a missing family from the north bay. And a burned cabin in El Dorado County. At least two people died in that cabin. And investigators are trying to piece together what happened and the connection between both events. Kron 4s Charles Clifford has the details. Charles according to an attorney representing the family of adam buchanan, his 7yearold son gavin and gavins mother molly mcafee, all three were reported missing a week ago after a fire destroyed adams cabin in El Dorado County. On monday, the El Dorado CountySheriffs Office confirmed that a burned residence was discovered along highway 193 in Garden Valley on september 13th. The remains of two people were found inside. The Sheriffs Office says that the bodies have not yet been identified and that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Buchanan, 7yearold gavin, and mcafee live in this home in benecia along with adams other son who is a teenager. Adam is also president of buchanan construction, whose offices are in benicia not far from the family home. According to neighbors in the business complex, el dorado Sheriffs Office investigators thoroughly searched this office last week. They also apparently removed several items from the building, including computers. At the family home, police and sheriffs deputies made multiple visits. Steve dean lives across the street. He says that at one point deputies surrounded the house. they all had guns drawn which was quite alarming and the teenage boy answered the door. According to dean, the teenager was temporarily detained while investigators searched the home. they searched the home for quite awhile and impounded one of the vehicles which still hasnt returned. Charles the attorney for the family said in a statement that the remaining members of adams family are cooperating with authorities in their investigation pam once authorities discover the identities of the remains found in the cabin, they say it could shed light on exactly what happened. A Charter School in sunnyvale has been closed. Since an 18 year old employee was arrested last week. For molesting an eight year old student as it turns out, the school had not conducted background checks on all its employees including the one who was arrested. Kron fours jeff bush is live tonight in sunnyvale, where a Board Meeting was held to discuss what actions are being taken to reopen the school and to make sure all employees are screened jeff. Jeff tonight the school board told the parents what they wanted to hear and that is that the background checks are going to go forward and the school is attempting to reopen on wednesday there was breakdown in the process and we need to learn from this mistake. we have to have somebody who is responibil at all times with our kids. Jeff most of the parents who attended the Board Meeting on monday night expressed support but also said the sex assault of an eight year old student is unacceptable and should not have happened and should not ever happen again. The spark school has been closed since the arrest of 18 year old jonathan chow. Chow is accused of the assault and was firedalong with two other hourly employees of the school. A background check had not been performed in chow and several other employees and, as a result, the school was ordered closed by Santa Clara County officials. The board announced that the school will be in copliance with all the background checks this weekcounty officials will inspect documents and complete the checks on tuesdaythe school board says it should be open by the start of business on wednesday morning.
