Check out this mailer Lisa Eccleston sent out, with six houses that sold anywhere from 11 to 13 percent aover the asking price the number of realtors that have come by and looked at the place and thrown their cards down. It reminds her of how quickly things moved before the 2008 recession. Were definitely above, pricewise, where we were at that time, but some of the competitiveness in the market has made it so that a lot of people have no contingencies. So its only sellers who would want to make a move now, right . Actually, eccleston says small increases in Interest Rates, like this weeks quarter of a percent raise, tend to cause the opposite effect of what you might think. Buyers suddenly get interested in housesand try to lock in a mortgage before Interest Rates go up any higher, which theyre expected to do later this year. standup so with sellers soaking up the buyers bidding wars, what do these recent rates mean for renters . Well, theyre still paying historically high rent, so theyll live there for a year and then they say, ok, im moving out because im buying a house. and whats more, a lot of them jump straight to becoming landlords, hoping to have someone else help pay off their big investment. Though this weeks federal Interest Rate hike was only the third one since 2008, rates are still very lowwhich could be a big reason why activity in the housing market. Is so high. But is it working . N the back of all San Francisco muni light rail vehicles are bright yellow signs which reads stop do not pass they are actually new signs, nats ambiance here let me show you on the left is the old sign which reads motorist must stop for pedestrians on the right the new sign its a larger easier and to read sign nats ambiance on the streets there are also the black and white do not pass signs. State law requires drivers to stop and wait when passengers are boarding or deboarding a light rail vehicle or cable car once the doors close you can proceed but as long as the door are opened you must stop. I get so many complaints about drivers not stopping for the n judah line nats ambiance this uber driver totally ignored the sign and rolled past all the open doors, i caught it on my camera and apparently, my dash cam captured it as wellnotice at the front of the lrv passengers were still exiting nats ambiance once the doors close you can drive unless there are people behaving badly by casually walking in the middle of the street having a conversation nats ambiance the sign reads stop not creep forward here at sunset and judah the lrv is stopped with the doors open yet all these drivers are creeping by while passengers are Still Standing near the train nats ambiancenow as usual people will try to pick this story apart and look for loopholes some will try to say if there is an island you are not required to stop this is partially true first off its called a saftey zone and not all safty zones are created equal. An official safety zone will have a speed limit posted which is 10 mph and it will have metal barriers to keep out of control car and truck from hitting people exiting a train. Any other island you must stop. Nats ambiance if you get caught the not stopping total fine is 238 dollars and a point on your driving record hit a pedestrian and then you have my advice if you drive a car or ride a bike the light rail in San FranciscoStanley Roberts kron 4 news steve our top story tonight.
