And the speech wasnt the only drama. 17 people were arrested at a protest near the Convention Center and more protests are planned for today as we enter the final day. Those protests included flag burning on the streets outside of the convention yesterday sparking probably the most turbulent protests of the week. We have video of it. Take a look. [ people yelling ] ] there you see Police Coming in not only putting out that fire but using pepper spray on some of the protesters. You see some being led away on handcuffs. A man whos 1989 protest led to a u. S. Supreme Court Decision that found flag burning was constitutional was arrested. Preliminary charges include failure to disperse and assault on a Police Officer. More protests are planned for today as the rnc gets ready for an afternoon parade and the big evening finale with Donald Trumps speech. Lets go to the democratic side. We could find out who Hillary Clintons running mate is as soon as tomorrow. Rumored at the top of the list is tim cain and tom milsack. He could help clinton gain ground in the battleground state. And flights across the country were held up by technical issues yesterday. The story having several intermitten problems passengers couldnt check in for flights or check flight status for about three hours. There could still be delays and long lines today. The lines inside the terminal are like a maze and they extend outside the terminal almost passed the terminal where Southwest Airlines is. Take a look at some video we have of the line. I walked from what was then the end of the line outside the terminal inside the terminal and you can see there are people everywhere. The lines are just creeping at this point. Theres a lot of confusion inside the terminal as well. Yesterday southwest had to ground their entire fleet because of technological problems. Flights got back in the air in the afternoon but with crippling delays across the country they canceled more than 200 flights yesterday. And here in oakland i talk today a lot of people who are frustrated by the delays. Take a look at what they have to say. We were so surprised. I came from brentwood my flight leaves at 7 45. I thought it would be resolved today. Im really frightened were not going to make our flight. We had to wait and wait and we had to get a hotel in downtown oakland because all the hotels right around here were booked. Now southwest has issued an apology for those who are effected by the delays. Theyre also offered flexible rebooking at this time. Im told the lines are moving much faster than yesterday but it is advised you come early if you plan on catching a southwest flight. Also check to see if your flight has been canceled. Because there are a few cancellations up on that big board of flights. Time now 7 09 and happening today black lives matter rallies are planned across the nation and here in the bay area as a nationwide day of action. And they planned a mar to Oakland Police headquarters this afternoon. This is one day after protesters chained themselves to the doors of the Oakland Police officers association. Multiple locked themselves to the front doors here. It started around 2 30 afternoon and they planned to stay for 24 hours. The protest was organized by black lives matter the antipolice terror project and other organizations. Protesters want the city to divest from the plt Police Department and theyre upset about on going brutality in what they call systemic violence against black people. And a standoff in the east bay at an oakland warehouse now coming to an end. This is the scene the swat Team Surrounded the building just after 3 00 yesterday afternoon. We first broke the story on the kron4 morning news. People started exiting the building with their hands up but at least one person wouldnt come out. Two people were arrested around 10 00 a. M. At least one person was shot. Theyve been released from the hospital and during a shch of the building they search of the building they found a shotgun and a replica handgun. Time now is 7 11 and happening now barts tube is open this morning. After service was shutdown between San Francisco and the east bay and it was all because this truck drove on to the bart tracks between the west oakland and the 12th street stations. The truck went on the tracks about 7 40 last night. Its unclear how that happened. The truck didnt collide with any trains there were major delays thousand for about an hour and a half. And here you can see the Police Response and the long lines of people waiting to catch busses to cross the bay. The west oakland station, there we are. Theres all the people that were inconvenienced by. This the west oakland station then reopened about 9 15. Service was gradually restored. Still ahead police in the east bay are looking for a gunman after he robbed a store in broad daylight. Well tell you where it happened. Its the counter commute direction but i wanted to show you just in case you get out there and say whats going on its a new accident northbound 680 blocking at least one lane blocking up the commute. Now the ride into San Francisco yes theres a backup at the bay bridge toll plaza. Its through the maze, its on to 580 and thats backed up towards the freeway. And after this theres more stop and go traffic from Treasure Island towards the skyway but less than 30 minutes from downtown oakland to San Francisco. Ill step out of the way and show you some drive times. 17 minutes for 680 south from concord to danville. Thats normal. Crowded mostly through hayward and leaving the south bay from san jose 105 thats about a 32minute trip to sunnyvale. Just the two slow downs for the east shore freeway. So leave early. We havent seen the warming happening inland just yet. Mid to upper 50s as we speak. Winds still active in spots. San francisco 16 Miles Per Hour from the west. Over towards oakland and even to concord you see the general corridor it is making that from the on shore flow. Down the peninsula with the fire going on were seeing winds at the 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour range Still Holding. I want to show the fog tracker here because were talking about a warm up. By midday today this fog mixes out pretty nicely. Yes it will return at night but basically holding true mostly to the immediate bay and not so much inland all the way into tomorrow morning so probably less fog in some of the inland spots that we saw for today. Again the typical mixing out will happen for midmorning hours. Temperature wise close to what we had from yesterday. Around the immediate bay its going to be somewhat of a repeat performance as we see the sun come out. Here comes the return flow of the cooler air over the hills by after midnight. Temperatures today for the south bay well cover 60 halfmoon bay. 75 palo alto, 75 Mountain View, santa clara at 79. Well keep that going for the east bay shoreline. 75 for hayward. And 70 for oakland. We might get that to 80 or so if not tomorrow by saturday. Walnut creek at 82. And well see more 90s territory by tomorrow can quickly we go to the upper 90s by sunday 100. James fletcher following this new decision. This is going to be a big blow to the russian team. Theyve lost the eappeal against the ban of the russian athletes competing in track and field in rio. 68 athletes are being effected by this. They were seeking to overturn the ban after allegations of state sponsored doping and cover ups. The court of arbitration sport rejected the appeal this morning. The new video shows the scene both inside and outside the club. You see stretchers and ambulance equipment and workers there, First Responders helping victims and you see an officer run to his car and then quickly back inside to help more victims. Police continue to search through the pulse nightclub looking for the shooters and more victims then. 49 people were killed in that shooting. It was the worst mass shooting in u. S. History. And police on the Central Coast are investigating a deadly officer involved shooting. This comes as protests have been held across the nation in the wake of several deadly officer shootings. This happened yesterday morning in Santa Barbara county. Cell phone video captures the moments it happened. Police got a call about a man with a large knife and tried to get him to drop it but he did not comply. They fired bean bag rounds and but he would not drop it. He then started stabbing himself and running at officers. They fired and killed him. The incident is under investigation. Time now is 7 20 and police in the east bay are looking for an armed robber. The man went into a newark game stop store armed with a gun. It happened at the newark marketplace. It was around 3 00 on tuesday. He went in, had a recover, revolver. Relief for people in the east bay. The city of oakland proposing two measures for rent increases. The measures require landlords to petition for approval of any annual rate hike other 10 . People who oppose it say the city is unfairly penalizing small property owners. Oakland is the fourth most expensive market in the nation. People in hollister are dealing with an earthquake swarm. Various quakes have been felt since sunday. One of the quakes measured a 4. 2. That struck tuesday afternoon. It was the biggest in the swarm and the biggest to hit the area in 30 years. Then i thought, oh yeah, an earthquake. The usgs says the recent activity is part of an earthquake swarm center just south of hollister on the san andrea fault. And theyre developing a better strategy for people displaced by fires. This comes after a recent spike in fires, including this what you know displaceded 50 people last night. The supervisor wants to expand sprinklers in homes. Also happening today Santa Clara County recollecter control will be fighting mosquitoes carrying the west nile virus its starting tonight at 11 00 until 2 00 in the morning. Mosquitoes with west nile virus are being found in several counties in the bay area. One of Donald Trumps advisers may be in legal trouble after he called for Hillary Clintons execution. Theyre calling it textitis theyre getting more and more patients with problems in their joints and their hands. A lot of patients are younger than 40years old. You shouldnt have arthritis that young. It was smokey, the wind was carrying the smoke downwind. But they didnt call for a shelter in place. It count re continued to run through the building at certain points. We saw huge towering flames reaching to the night sky. No shelter in place as i mentioned. A lot of people however on the streets just watching their beloved Community Center go up in flames. The fire chief joins me now. Whats the latest on this fire. Were in defensive mode. Were looking at the significant loss if not total loss of a building. Its under investigation so we dont have much to say. But this is something that today kids are going to come to and see this. Right now, our objective is to completely put the fire out and keep everybody safe. How is it able, there were certain parts. All i saw was smoke and then within seconds certain parts of the roof had flames shooting through. How is that possible. We believe the fire got into the attic, the attic spread its hard to see into the attic without putting ourselves in danger. So a lot of fire in the attic, difficult to determine where it is, how to contain it, where to get to it. Were working on a theory that there was a fully involved attic and thats what created this loss. Does the building have a Sprinkler System or fire alarm that triggers to tell you guys to come here. It does not have a Sprinkler System. We got a fire or Burglar Alarm which initiate it had response. And when our crew got here it was a working fire and we got here. People including myself, it was so smokey we were gagging. We have tricky winds out here. Depending on where where you are youre going to get more or less smoke. Theres noty 1yu much we can dt the smoke right now. Itll be difficult to contact all the people effected we dont know how the wind will shift around but its a smokey area. And if this is your ride its the usual jam up no major problems heading to the peninsula. Under 30 minutes for that ride from 880 to 101. And Police Investigating a double shooting in bridge bay. And that shooter is still on the loose this morning. Police were breaking up a party, several hundred people were there when the shots started ringing out. It happened just before midnight in an abandoned building on industrial way. One person was shot in the leg. Another one apparently shot in the upper body were not sure where. But both are expected to be okay. Police are still looking for the gunman. They dont have much of a description. Its not known if the shooting was random or targeted. Were going to stay on top of this story and as we learn more well come back and give you the update. 7 34 and happening now the search is on for a man who robbed a Convenience Store at gunpoint. It was the 7 11 and heres the surveillance photo that shows you the guy that did it. He walked in around 9 00, pulled the gun and demanded money then ran away from the scene with the cash. Police are hoping somebody will recognize him and come forward with more information. State projects to improve highway 4s reputation is now complete. Heres a look at the improvements. The highway went from four lanes to eight lanes from lovers road in pittsburgh to west of highway 160 in antioch. And the highway between lone tree way and brentwood has been expanded from three lanes to four. It was considered one of the worst commutes in the nation but that will change with the completion of this sixyear project. The bart station and the tracks between glen park and daly city will be closed. Theyll make repairs to the tracks and add sound dampening equipment. If you are traveling to and from the east bay there will be limited service on the richmond line on saturdays. Trains will be available from daly city to millbrae and sfo. The first weekend closure is coming up on july 30, 31. Parents of the toddler killed in an alligator attack at disney world resort last month says they are not suing disney. They released a statement saying theyre focussed on the future health of the family and will not be pursuing a lawsuit.
