Clouds will increase and the possibility for showers. It looks like a chance as we head into the middle of next week. I will monitor that for you. As we look at traffic, if you have to leave on the early thanksgiving this morning nothing will slow you down a live lee look at the toll plaza. It is problem free and looking good on the ride. No problem into hayward and out to foster city. And traffic both of the approaches. Were not seeing slow downs or highway 101. Thank you. Now to the developing news this morning, investigators are working to identify a body that was found in san jose. Thats when someone alerted officials to somebody of the area inside highway 87 overpass. Crews responded, they located the body in that space. And the search and rescue team was called to the scene to assist in the removal of that body. The overpass is leading investigators to believe that the person who died may have been homeless. Well have more on this throughout the morning. The teen who was set ablaze on board a bus is home with family just in time for the holidays. We have video of sasha fleischman. He finish ad stay in the burn unit at the hospital. This month he suffered burns when police say a 16 year old passenger on the bus set his skirt on fire. He was sleeping on the bus. His parents talked about his happiness being home. He told us what he wanted to wear on the way home. I dont think that changing anything about the way sash is a will express himself. Everything is great, we hope something will come out of this, you know, that this kind of intolerance, people will realize that wearing unusual clothing but you cannot attack him. The teen attacker a 16 year old student is charged as an assault. Well keep you updated on the trial. And the san jose is taking heat with the format of a student this month. But a study shows students of color have dealt with similar incidents from other students and professors for years. We have the report. Reporter it took six years of interviewing to complete this report about racism on the san jose campus. Now what is inside are comments from students and faculty with their experiences about how the school can dress the issues. Having the zero tolerance that represents an attack on the group or sexuality things like that, this bigger than a black issue. Reporter word that a black student was being terrorized and reporting it sparked protests on campus. They wrote the o word and swastikas, put the bike lock around his neck. He fought them off the first time and but the second time they locked him in his dorm room and broke the lock off. It was in part expressing their feeling that for too long their voices were ignored the. The report was completed two years ago and the school disbanded the committee. The commission was created a representative said it now more across the board. They have met and will meet again next month. And the efforts to dress the issues at hand were told there are two taskforces targeting africanamerican and latino students success. There is another issue with the Health Care Enrollment web site. Small businesses can not get coverage for one more year. However they will sign up for coverage other ways. In a statement the health and Human Services Department Said small employers will use direct enrollment. The business interested in buying insurance will have to use an insurer or broker. And 8 30 yesterday morning. He is working on almost 24 hours once it opens. This is then repeated across the country. It is a tradition for a lot of people. They will do without the turkey but get their deals. I was talking with our floor manager about how it seems like more and more stores are making people trade thanksgiving with the family for that deal. And line up in front of the store and people are doing it. And it will be interesting to see what the big ticket item is. A couple of tvs is what he is getting. The thing theyre doing here which is interesting, you know the door busters the big ticket items. The first people get a limited amount of tvs. Theyre splitting it up this year. They will have door busters. Another at 12 and another on block friday at 10 a. M. If you dont want to wait can you come at midnight or the next day well lets face it they want more people to come. And we will have more information coming up shortly. Prosecutors say they will not file charges against the person who spark ad fire that burned 3100 acres in the state park in september. It started in clayton where a person was target shooting. Turned out a bullet struck a rock and it ignited the hillside. It prompted the evacuation of 75 homes and 4. 5 million in damage. A follow up to a story we brought you yesterday morning. An Apartment Building fire is out but several people have been left without a home. One of the people in the complex started the blaze. That person admitted to it. And jr stone talked with a neighbor who lost everything. The water damage it is just taking everything. She is talking about what her apartment looks like 20 hours after it went up in flames. Holes in the roof. Soot and walls missing. It is another picture now that i can see it. I thought maybe i could save some of the stuff. Its not. The story has been well documented. We spoke with her wednesday after she jumped off this balcony to escape the flames. Her neighbor is the man accused of starting the fire. Why he did it, its unclear but he has mental problems and has not been taking medicine. That suspect lives in this apartment next to her and her son. Her apartment was similar to this win. This all that was saved. She is trying to save optimistic. I have this i have been collecting since i was a teen. All the apartments were affected by the fire. She said as bad as everything looks she is thankful. I love my little apartment. I really did. But it is all replaceable. We got out so well go on from there. It will work out. You can see the fence that surrounds the building that caught fire. She says her cat is still nowhere to be found. She is hopeful he is hiding in the neighborhood. As for the suspect he is being bars. The air management Quality Management district is recommending that residents not burn any wood this thanksgiving day theyre asking you do. They issued spare the air alerts it that would ban the wood burning. It is recommending that the residents refrain from doing so if you dont have to, they ask that you not burn the wood today. The teen was set on fire in the back of a bus, the teen is home for the holidays but a long road to recovery. Plus a body found inside a freeway overpass has police asking questions. Well have details straight ahead but first is thanksgiving. Many are ditching the turkey and instead lining up for black friday deals this year. I dont think well see anything in the way of slow traffic. Right now its late all around the bay area. We dont even see slow traffic on 580 or highway 4 this morning. James . Were following breaking news out of san jose where police are at this moment investigating a shooting. Kron4 will tran with the details. Reporter around 4 00 this morning after hearing that shots were fired on the 800 block of state street that involves a man and woman sitting on the front porch. They believe multiple shots were fired. The two victims described to be in their 20s they dont know the relationship at this time, whether its family members or husband and wife. Ive got a chance to talk to the lieutenant on the scene. This is what he said about the shooting. He said it was random or unusual for somebody to get shot on their front porch randomly. Well lets say this. Its very early in the morning. Its 4 00. These individuals obviously are celebrating thanksgiving a little early, out on their porch, based on the information that i have it doesnt appear that the victims and the suspects knew each other. At this point theres not a lot of description on the suspects. They believe one person took off by car and another on foot. And thats the very latest, im on the scene and ill have updates throughout the morning. For now reporting from san jose, will tran, kron4 news. Investigators are working to identify a body found inside a freeway overpass in san jose earlier this morning. It was just before 1 00 a. M. A person alerted fire officials to the fact there was a body inside of highway 87. The overpass there. Emergency crews responded. They did locate the body inside of that confined space. San joses urban search and rescue team was called into the scene to assist in the removal of that body. The overpass is located near homeless and so investigators think perhaps the person who died may have been homeless. Well San Jose State University is taking a lot of heat now for the way it has been dealing with the alleged forment of a black student earlier this month. In an in depth study, we found that students of color have dealt with similar incidents from professors and coaches and other students for many years. The Campus Climate took six years for the 100 page report to be completed. Whats inside includes comments from students and faculty about their experiences and suggests how the school can address them. Zero tolerance policy for anything that symbolize an attack on any ethnic group, gender group or sexuality things like that. This is bigger than just a black issue. Well the Campus Climate report was cop pleated two years ago and the school disbanned the Committee Last year. This fall the commission on diversity was created. A representative says they believe it now represents more ethnic groups acrosstheboard. Well the state Attorney Generals Office says that the number of hate crimes reported in california actually declined about 12 last year and has dropped by more than a third over the last decade. The report says that 930 such crimes were reported in 2012. Thats down from the 1060 reported back in 2011. Hate crimes that are based on victims race, ethnicity or National Origin dropped 10 last year while making up more than half the complaints and crimes targeting victims Sexual Orientation fell nearly 4 . In other news this morning, we have the teen who was set ablaze on board an ac transit bus finally home with his family, just in time for the holidays. We have video out of oakland. Hes sitting in the passenger seat there as his parents drove him home. Sasha has finished a three week stay in the burn unit in San Francisco st. Francis Memorial Hospital earlier this month, sasha suffered serious burns while police say a 16 year old passenger on that same bus set his skirt on fire. The teen is gender neutral, doesnt identify himself as a meal or female. Yesterday sashas parents talked about their sons happiness of being home. Sasha told us exactly which skirt he wanted to wear on the way home and i dont think that changes anything about the way sashas going to express himself. Everything is great. Were just hoping that something goodwill come out of this, that this kind of intolerance will be, people will realize that you can wear unusual clothing and it doesnt mean that you have a right to attack them. Well sashas alleged teen aged attacker is 16 years old, an Oakland High School student being charged as an adult. School officials are scrambling to find substitutes for over 400 teachers who extended their thanksgiving holiday this week. That means about 12 of San Francisco teachers are missing, most use sick or personal days, though a few were off for training or be reevement. Under their labor contract season francis could teachers may take 10 days of leave each year and they dont have to ask permission for it. Well today is the annual thanksgiving day meal at the Memorial Church. Volunteers spent the last couple of days getting things prepared for the big day. Kron4 is live at glide Memorial Church now with the latest on preparations this Early Morning for the crowds and they are expected to be pretty big crowds today. Reporter talk about 5,000 people crowds, you know thats huge. Thats what they are serving today. Thats about how many people will be coming in and out of glide all morning and afternoon. You could see one of the glide Staff Members there, just getting things ready for volunteers. This is where you get the big volunteer push coming in. You have many people coming to volunteer but one thing that glide does like to stress is they need volunteers every day and in fact, thats what they wanted for us right now is not only volunteers but also if people could give money to help out also during the Christmas Holiday and throughout the year and also to donate some toys. Going back to thanksgiving, lets just say that actually thanksgiving breakfast starts tarply at 7 00 this morning and that will go on to about 8 30 and then a little bit of a break and at 9 00 is when they start the thanksgiving dinner and that will go on i believe until about 3 00 in the afternoon. Ill have to double check on that but definitely throughout the afternoon. At that point, you have also the thanksgiving celebration with glide memorial choir singing in the background and thats always very uplifting and inspirational but right now, james at this point, were waiting for volunteers to come in and then start carving all these turkeys and hams and its always kind of fun every year we cover this but theres always those newcomers and they are like oh, i dont know how to carve a turkey. This is the first time. By the end of the day they know how to carve a turkey. They are experts by the end for sure. Absolutely. You do a great job covering this every year for us and every year im surprised at just how packed it is in there. A lot of folks come out to spend their time at glide. Yeah, you know what . Its really also become like a Family Tradition for a lot of people. So they are splitting it up a little bit but still a lot of people waiting to get those good deals. I like that idea of staggering out their supply so you dont have to be the first in line before everything is sold out. I was hoping we could look through the glass and see that maybe behind the scenes preparing, but yeah, theyve got the metal doors down. They arent taking any chances. They arent open yet. Right. Theres not anybody in there. In fact i talked to the people in line and they said the store people were here until about 1 00 a. M. Last night setting up the store. They dont open until 6 00 p. M. Tonight so its a little later obviously. But boy up late getting everything ready. Im sure they are out positioning all of the product and we saw video jackie in a story earlier about how some stores were putting like directions on the floors, repositioning the product so that you didnt have to go hunting through the store, its right in front for you to grab. I bet they got this like a well oiled machine best buy does. They do actually. They have tape on the floor, when you go into the store you immediately know and the thing is, james they start handing out the doorbuster deals about two hours beforehand and you start plotting out your stov they tell you where everything is in the store, what deal you might want to get and then when those doors open, the people that are waiting in line know exactly where they need to be in the store. Some of them team up, teams of two, three, four, five people and they split the store up into different quadrants if you will, one heads to the laptops, the other heads to the tvs. They know exactly what they are doing.
