The demonstrators poured into central moscow in an anticorruption rally that doubled has a protest against president putin. But marches like this need an official permit in russia or theyre illegal and this one was. So with the demonstrators shouting shame on you to the government, the police moved in. Hundreds were arrested. Including an anticorruption campaigner whod organized the march. Earlier this month he released a video alleging that russias Prime Minister had amassed a fortune through corrupt deals. It went viral. And these protesters are among the millions who watched it. Many counties across the country have only one insurer which means the carrier has a monopoly over your care. And we looked at the specific challenges for obamacare. When you bore done and look at the real facts how bad is it is it as bad as it appears i guess is the question. Its very bad in certain markets. Yes, there are certain people and certain markets who are not doing well under the law and there are others who are doing quite well. I think at this time next year, there are people who are doing just fine but have not faced a catastrophic situations. Why is it different in the markets . I think it depends on the state. Tennessee you have more sick people sign up in the market in particular. California and new york, bigger markets. The general pool of people who signed up were healthier. And that helps drive down the costs for insurers overall. Death spiral has a technical term here. What is it . Well, death spiral you mean, meaning that were as it goes on. You hear obamacare is in a death spiral. Thats not just hyperbole. Thats actually referring to some issues with the marketplace. Right. The issues with the marketplace are in some markets the insurers have pulled out. They werent able to make a profit. The costs you know, and thus the costs have gone up and competition has dogone down. You have premiums going way up and you have no choice on the insurance plans and thats what happened in the select markets that the republicans have cited and hammered away. You have people in the markets where its doing fine where, you know, they just make just enough money not to qualify for a subsidy but they dont make enough money where insurance is affordable. You have the people in the in between area where we hear about who are paying 400 a month for insurance and have a 3,000, 4,000 deductible. Its not affordable for them and they dont have any other options. Are there bandaids to make it work so its not going to explode . Yes. I think this solution is going to be something that republicans dont want to hear is more subsidies and more regulation. A bigger carrot and a bigger stick. If the penalty went up for people who dont buy insurance, more Healthy People would be driven into the market. If the subsidies went up to help pay for people to get insurance, then more people would be able to afford it and theyd go into the market. If more regulations were placed on insurers to force them to sell in certain markets that could help too. You know, but those arent the Free Market Solutions that the republicans want to hear. Could republicans and democrats ever agree on that . I think at this point it is possible that there is more in common between the democrats and the moderate republicans than there are the far right conservative Freedom Caucus and the moderate republicans. But thats not saying much either because the divides in between the Freedom Caucus and the rest of the Republican Party is pretty steep as well. But i do see theres maybe a potential with a lot of work and a lot of Coalition Building that democrats could come on board to the republican sponsored plan. When would we see another effort by the republicans in the health care . Unless theres a secret plan, which we were thinking there was a secret plan all awe long, a month, years. For people who have to make a decision about buying the Health Insurance this fall i dont think thats a replacement plan. There may be some fixes that get in place. The relationship between paul ryan and the president of the united states, how can they Work Together . Do you think theyre on the same page now . Publicly theyre saying yes they are.
