His family confirmed foleys death while u. S. Intelligence officials are working to verify the gruesome video of his murder released by the extremists. Reporter the actual video posted online is too grisly to show. A man identified as foley is heard reading a statement before he is beheaded. Foley, 40 years old, disappeared while covering the war in syria in november of 2012. He has not been heard from since. In a written statement, his mother said, he gave his life trying to expose the world to the suffering of the syrian people. A light burned in the window of the foley home in rochester, new hampshire, last night. Last year his mother talked about foleys dedication to helping the syrian people. It breaks my heart that the person to have captured him dont understand his goodness and his desire for everything good in syria. Reporter isis says it killed foley as payback for u. S. Air strikes in iraq. The u. S. Military has hit more than 70 isis targets since august 8th. Three years ago foley was among a small group of journalists taken prisoner in libya. He was held for six weeks before being released. Afterwards he talked to cbs news. I was hit several times with the butt of an ak47, punched and dragged into a vehicle with my hands tied behind my back. Reporter the white house says it is appalled by the brutal murder of an innocent american journalist. Now, isis is threatening to kill another american journalist it holds, steven sotloff. Who also disappeared while covering the war in syria. President obama is expected to make a statement on foley later today. And this morning there is an uneasy peace in ferguson, missouri. But the Fatal Shooting of Michael Brown sparked another night of unrest. At least 47 people were arrested, one suspect from out of state was arrested for the third time. Three handguns were confiscated and bottles thrown, but police say there were no shootings, no molotov cocktails and fewer incidents overall. The elders in this community, volunteers, activists and the clergy came out in large numbers. They walked, they talked with people. They urged order, calm and peace. That had a common influence on the younger people. A grand jury is expected to begin a criminal inquiry, and attorney general eric holder is due in ferguson today. Susan mcginnis is in ferguson. Susan, good morning. Reporter good morning, annemarie. Last night the streets of ferguson were visibly more peaceful than weve seen on a lot of evenings here. Captain johnson actually remarked that he thinks last night represented a turning point in these demonstrations. However, it was just a couple of hours ago things did turn deadly with these dozens of arrests. And one protester actually charged the Police Command center where we are. Finally on the streets, police cracked down ordering everyone, including the media, to disperse. Its become a familiar scene. Overnight wednesday, Ferguson Police charged a crowd of demonstrators. If you are not credentialed media, you need to disperse immediately. Reporter they ordered everyone to leave the area immediately and started arresting those who didnt. The turnaround came after what started as Peaceful Demonstrations over the killing of Michael Brown. Some of the Peaceful Protesters formed a human chain between Police Officers in riot gear and those looking to stir up trouble. Many took to the streets with arms raised. The nowfamiliar hands up, dont shoot stance indicating their argument that brown was surrendering when he was killed by white Police Officer darren wilson. St. Louis resident carrie chambers brought her young son with her. We want justice. We want justice. Reporter calls for justice for Michael Brown have been drowned out by the chaos. In the past two days, police have made more than 50 arrests mostly of people from outside the community. Amid the tensions, attorney general eric holder arrives here today to meet with fbi and other officials investigating browns death. In an oped, holder writes, our investigation into this matter will be full. It will be fair, and it will be independent. A grand jury could begin hearing evidence today to determine whether wilson should be charged in browns death as his family prepares to lay him to rest. Now, even if a grand jury starts looking at evidence today, were told it could be weeks before a decision is made on whether to file charges against officer wilson. Annemarie . Israel launched the attacks across gaza after militants launched dozens of rockets. The israeli air strikes killed at least three people. Hamas says the victims were the wife and child of hamass military chief. Israel withdrew its delegation from the peace talks in cairo. And Texas Governor rick perry is scheduled to be arraigned friday after being indicted last week on charges of abusing power. Perry turned himself in yesterday just a block from the governors mansion. This is his booking photo. As anna werner reports, perry maintains he did nothing wrong. Im going to enter this courthouse with my head held high, knowing the actions that i took were not only lawful and legal but right. Reporter the charges against governor perry stem from an incident in april of last year when Travis CountyDistrict Attorney rosemary lehmberg, a democrat, was pulled over for drunk driving. This is police videotape. Her bloodalcohol level was more than three times the legal limit. She pleaded guilty, but governor perry wanted her to resign. He threatened to cut funding for her office, specifically the Public Integrity unit which investigates political wrongdoing. Lehmberg refused to step down, and perry used his veto power to cut 7. 5 million from her unit. Michael mccrum is the special prosecutor. I took into account the fact that were talking about a governor of a state obviously that carries a level of importance. But when it gets down to it, the law is the law and the elements are the elements, and the analysis is whether or not the facts meet the elements of the offense. Reporter perry has a team of lawyers working on his case. Upwards of 28,000 since the plant opened in march. There are 300,000 mirrors hitting waterfilled boilers that make steam. Those birds are being called streamers after the poof of smoke produced when they ignite. One heartbreak after another. They built this project in one of the most important places in the country. He told me israel had the right to have an army to protect they are civilians, but you palestinians have no right to do that. Reporter the camp which runs solely on donations was started in 1993. So far 5,200 teens have attended. Including hashim who came four years ago. For eight days i couldnt even believe that israelis were actually human beings. But when asked if he stayed in touch with the israelis he met at camp i cant talk with them, no, because all them that i know are now soldiers. A patient is in isolation in a sacramento hospital this morning as that person he is blood is checked for the virus.
