Laws were backed by both the republicans and democrats in the legislature. On the bay area watch, San Francisco city leaders are considering a ban on smoking at some fairs and festivals. The board of supervisors meets later this afternoon on two proposed ordinances. One with require owners of multitenant units to tell proposed tenants if smoking is allowed and others to ban them at major fairs. Muni is hoping for 24 million makeover. Its called graph search and enables users to search for information about their online acquaintances. For example, its possible to look among friends of those who live in a particular city and like a specific movie. Zuckerberg says graph search is privacyaware in the sense that users can only search for content thats already been shared. And this is pretty cool. Walmart is vowing to hire every veteran who wants a job. Walmart projects it could mean hiring more than 100,000 veterans over the next five years. It will be slightly warmer this afternoon as well and then tonight clear again but not quite as cold and i think we are looking at some warmer days ahead almost springlike toward the next few. This ridge of High Pressure will send cold air further east wards so temperatures will moderate over the next couple of days. Around the state you will see 50s in the Central Valley for today high country about 45 degrees and sunny in lake tahoe 54 degrees and sunny into monterey bay and 57 in ukiah. Around the bay seeing a couple of clouds continuing to pass overhead mostly high clouds sliding by otherwise looking good and staying clear overnight tonight. So it will still be chilly in spots and some places near freezing. Temperatures this afternoon about 56 degrees in san jose. About 54 in livermore, 57 in oakland and about 55 degrees in San Francisco. Overnight lows will be chilly in spots around freezing there in santa rosa at about 32, 33 degrees in the napa valley and 39 degrees in oakland. Of course, we had some 20s this morning so not as cold but still chilly early on. Over the next couple of days, High Pressure building in. Tomorrow we should begin to see some more 60s showing up outside. I think some springlike temperatures maybe some mid60s through thursday and friday. And right now, at least the next five to seven days, look dry but on the longrange computer models i think toward the end of next week, a major change in the pattern again. This is pretty typical. We get a dry spell in the middle of winter and then right back into it. Winter comes roaring back into the bay area. Well just savor the next week then. Hackers are exploiting vulnerabilities allowing you to trick you into logging into fake websites stealing bank logins, money and even using your computer to attack other websites. Oracle has released a patch for its Java Software but Security Experts say its not good enough. This is sort of one of the ongoing tensions with java. Its very old. And so as patches are released and they do plug certain holes other holes may not get addressed. Reporter java is a computer language that allows programmers to write apps and software that can run on any computer. But rosenblatt says most websites today dont use java anymore even though the rarely used software is likely still running on your computer. So im not going to see a lot of impact on my web surfing if i disable java but i will likely be more secure . Absolutely. Reporter disabling it is easy. On a pc, click start, go to your control panel, there you can add or remove programs. Then scroll down to java and uninstall. You can also download the Security Patch from the oracle website but even Homeland Security has concerns over future vulnerabilities if java is left enabled.
