In sonoma county, a large tree came down over part of highway 116 near forestville. It hit communication lines around 8 a. M. Crews are working to clear it. Most cars had to turn around at flooded green valley road near sebastopol but some drivers took a chance, made it through the rushing waters. We have Live Team Coverage this afternoon. Roberta gonzales is in the storm center but first maria medina is live in san anselmo where its been raining for hours. Looks windy. [ sound of wind and rain ] reporter the umbrella isnt helping. Its definitely windy out here. It is definitely raining. Pretty heavy rain for the last hour or two here. People here in san anselmo they watched the bad weather closely because take a look, right here, this is the San Anselmo Creek and they have seen this flood before. This office pretty much destroyed. Reporter when it rains in san anselmo, barton goode knows how much to expect. The water was four feet deep, 46. Reporter a decade ago heavy rain caused the San Anselmo Creek to rise pushing a wave of water through downtown. Every business damaged, some worse than others. Some people never came back. Some people were months. Reporter bartons bagels opened up a month later. Ile he says he watches the forecast closely just in case he needs to prepare for another flood, he is not too worried about this storm. So fa this storm has caused down trees and power outages. It was awful when i woke up this morning. Reporter jones took his children for a walk to watch crews work on restoring power. They said all day . Which kind of sucks because i got to work from home today and my computer is already running out of batteries. Reporter by early afternoon, the sprinkles turned into sheet of rain in the north bay, certainly a strong storm. But those who lived through the 2005 flood in san anselmo say its not enough to be concerned yet. I dont think its happened with less than 12 inches in a single day. Ill probably retire before it happens again so reporter and so one last look at the San Anselmo Creek over here. It runs through downtown right near businesses and homes. If thats not enough to show that you this storm is no joke, it may not cause flooding here, but take a look at my umbrella. Its shaking in the wind. Where are we at, roberta . We have venado 12 miles from healdsburg a mountainous community in the north bay over 5. 5 of rain today already over 2 inches of rain in the santa rosa area. When you see the yellow and orange on your tv screen, thats the real deal. Thats the moderate to heavy rain and it has been draped across the north bay for hours. As i get ready to zoom on in, you can see that the heaviest precipitation now along 101 from petaluma back through novato in a san rafael all the way in towards the Golden Gate Bridge and the city of san francisco. Thats the leading edge of the heaviest precipitation and the gustiest winds. Western addition, lincoln boulevard, you will start to see the rains increase. In fact, were looking out towards the Golden Gate Bridge, lets verify that with this our live weather camera surely indicates its wet there. Now, if we take a look at our hidef Doppler Radar again, i want to explain to you, right here this is the leading edge of the heaviest rainfall. That is surging down in a southerly direction. As it does so, this is hours and hours of heavy rain behind it. Thats what we still have in the forecast. And when you have hours of heavy rain, youre going to see that accumulation of the saturation of the ground, we will see more downed trees as the day progresses, a possibility of downed power lines, as well. So far, no reports of major problems at Oakland International airport or mineta International Airport in san jose. Meantime, experts say that, um, pacifica Apartment Building on top of an eroding cliff will be demolished, the city taking matters into its own hands. The building at 310 esplanade was evacuated last winter because of damage from coastal conditions. Just a short time ago the city manager put much of the blame on the property owners. Because of mr. Toms failure to take responsibility for his property and the serious threat that the Building Collapse posts to public safety, we are stepping in to demolish that structure. No specific timeline was given but the city manager said the demolition will take place as soon as possible. Two nearby Apartment Buildings were demolished in february and march. And there is a new round of snow and strong winds in the tahoe truckee area. Heres a look at the sierra at tahoe area right now. No chain requirements on interstate 80 or highway 50. But roberta says that is going to change soon. Now to money news here in the u. S. The Federal Reserve says it could raise Interest Rates three more times next year after bumping rates by. 25 yesterday. Thats only the second rate hike since the 2008 financial crisis. The increase will likely push up rates for mortgages, credit cards and car loans. Sunnyvalebased yahoo is again urging its users to change their passwords after the discovery of a second major email breach. The companys now disclosing that in august 2013, more than a billion accounts were hacked. The hackers may have gotten access to user names, phone numbers and security questions. Kcbs radios financial reporter jason brooks says this could jeopardize verizons 4. 8 billion offer for yahoos digital operations. Reporter now, with this additional breach being even worse than the first breach that was reported, its almost certain that it will impact how much verizon is willing to pay for yahoo. Brooks says theres even a chance verizon could scrap the deal entirely forcing financially troubled yahoo to restart its search for a buyer. Which leads us to the big board. If you are in richmond, you also know what im saying. Novato plenty of rain showers. Novato already an inch of rain since 10 a. M. Think about it. Since the 10 a. M. , a full inch of rain a half inch per hour. So here we go with the front now beginning to descend on the city of san francisco. Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge towards the western addition. The flag is on the fly. Gusty winds, temperatures 50s and 60s. There you have it again. The rain continues to pour into the north bay, the central bay now. All the way until about 3 00. Then it lightens up. South bay between 3 and 7 p. M. In the evening hours. The High Definition doppler again the heaviest concentration of rain is right there leading all the way into the Golden Gate Bridge which we just saw. Okay. We are getting a repeat performance on your computer models. We have mostly cloudy skies today. Heavy rain throughout the central bay into the Santa Clara Valley towards the evening commute. We will see us up to 2. 5 of rain in many locations. And up to about 4 and 6 inches of rain in our mountainous areas. So while the rain will taper off later on tonight, we will see clear skies on your friday. Clear skies on your saturday. And temperatures pretty much. Cool in the 50s during the day, our nighttime into the 30s and in the low 40s. So obviously, while we will begin to dry out, we certainly do cool down. Every time when i go through obstacle and stuff like that, theres always somebody there to help me so i figure if i cannot help all, at least i can make a difference in one persons life. Reporter as a child, jenny suffered the atrocities of the khmer rouge in cambodia. Her mother was executed. Jenny escaped with her older sister, hiding from soldiers under dead bodies and scrounging for food. She would pick up leaf and eat it first to make sure that that its okay. And then shell then she will, um, give it to me. Reporter her familys immigration to the u. S. In 1984 gave her a Second Chance at life. Joy to the world the lord is come [ music ] reporter today jenny is an insurance broker, wife and mother of three. I made that reporter she lives to give as volunteer tom explains. I think she recognizes how important it is to be here in america and to pass on her joy of being free giving back to the community. Reporter she inspires volunteers like annette.
