Reporter from a doctor Infectious Disease specialist. We are taking the actions recommended by the cdc as a precaution just as we do for other patients with suspected Infectious Disease. This includes isolation of the patient in a specially equipped negative pressure room and the use of personal protective equipment by trained staff coordinated with Infectious Disease specialists. While kaiser patients were hearing of the possible ebola case from reporters they should let us know that and take better care of it. Reporter the rumblings of the infectious virus in South Sacramento were already out there. A man named patrick anderson, who on his Facebook Page says he is a Security Guard at kaiser tweeted, hell, no, we might have an ebola patient in kaiser. I aint trying to catch that virus. He has since deleted that but then tweeted were going to be on the news tonight, great. The centers for Disease Control says that since the Ebola Outbreak in west africa, they have been contacted by 60 times by hospitals here in the u. S. And a spokesman for the cdc said yesterday that of those 60 days, they have only received blood samples from 10. San jose will be holding its own rally in just a couple of hours. A lot of those leaders on the streets in ferguson are trying to preach calm, hope and peace. San jose is part of the pico Network People improving communities through organizing. They are leading a march through ferguson with events all over the country in solidarity. One of the goals in missouri is to channel all that anger. Our goal is to speak some calmness, to take some of the heat out of this situation, and to encourage people to wait while the wheels of justice move. Reporter with questions swirling about a possible ebola patient being treated at this kaiser in South Sacramento, hospital staff stayed tight lipped refusing to go on camera and increasing its security presence. Only releasing a statement saying, in part, we are working with the Sacramento County division of Public Health regarding a patient admitted to the Kaiser PermanenteSouth SacramentoMedical Center who may have been exposed to the ebola virus. The cdc will be testing blood samples to rule out the presence of the virus. The patient is in isolation likely in a room just like the two american patients with ebola being treated in atlanta. Its designed to keep patients in an extremely high level of clinical isolation. Im speechless. I had no idea. Thats crazy. Reporter a county Health Expert says it could take days to find out if the patient tests positive for the deadly virus leaving many wondering who the patient is, how did exposure happen and is anyone else infected . Com. Police in San Francisco say they made an arrest in the case of a 2yearold killed by a hit andrun driver. The person arrested not the driver, though, but the girls aunt, 25yearold lorysha gage. She is charged with child endangerment. Police say gage, who was caring for the child, left her standing in the middle of Mission Street and went back to get her brother who was still on the sidewalk. Police have a surveillance photo of the car and are looking for the driver. The plane crash in marin county, a redwood city man has been identified as the pilot on board who died. If you are not credentialed media, you need to disperse immediately reporter they ordered everyone to leave the area and started arresting those who didnt. But missouri Highway Safety patrol captain ron johnson said overall, tonights protest for Michael Brown was different. All night and early this morning, no smoke bombs, no tear gas, was used by police. We did deploy very limited pepper spray. Reporter some of the peaceful protestors formed a human chain between Police Officers in riot gear brother, please reporter and those looking to stir up trouble. They urged order, calm and peace. That had a calming influence on the younger people. Dont shoot reporter many took to the streets with arms raised the now familiar hands up dont shoot stance indicating that brown was surrendering when he was killed by white Police Officer darren wilson. Calls for justice for Michael Brown have been drowned out by the chaos. Police say most of the arrests were of people from outside the community. This morning we are getting earnings reports from some of americas biggest retailers. Heres kcbs radios financial reporter jason brooks. Reporter good morning. Target continues to struggle after its massive data breach over the holidays. The chain is warning that its full year profit will be under what it was expecting. It still had a fairly decent quarter with its revenue of 1. 7 . And well over 17 billion for its profits at just over 200 million compared to 600 millionplus a year ago. Target is attempting to cushion it. It will be keeping over half of its stores in the u. S. Open longer than later up until midnight in some cases. Other retailers doing well including American Eagle outfitters. It had been expected to have an awful quarter and its sales were down a bit but not as bad as expected thinks it will do better and shares are up as a result. The Home Improvement business doing better. We saw that with home depots results this week. Lowes also saw its revenue increase 6 to 16. 6 billion. However, its guidance for the full year down a little bit and thats pressuring its shares a little lower. Coming up, two very strong days for the stock market. So we have a bit of a flat open pointing just a little bit lower. Lets check the big board see how were doing so far. The dow down by just 7 points. Nasdaq is down 9. Developing in the middle east now, more rocket fire and air strikes in gaza. Attacks resumed after peace talks collapsed and a cease fire ended. Palestinians fired 7 rockets at israel yesterday. The Israeli Military says some 30 air strikes were carried out in gaza overnight. That israeli ship that led a protest at the port of oakland was unloaded overnight. Joe vazquez reports the ship sailed out of the bay and then turned back to the port of oakland. [ chanting ] reporter after four days of demonstrations that kept port workers away, longshoremen are now unloading the ship according to the spokesman for the International Longshoreman and warehouse union. He says that workers saw the smaller contingent of demonstrators and police tonight so they felt it was safe enough to go in and work. The development happened after an afternoon of what appeared to be a cat and mouse game between the ship and demonstrators. The ship left around 3 p. M. Demonstrators celebrated. It appeared the ship was going to Southern California. Then according to several marine tracking websites, the piraeus did an aboutface and came back. Under the bay bridge, back to alcatraz, past the farallons and came back. I think they were trying to fool us. Reporter demonstrators mustered a small contingent via twitter to return to the port. They gathered in front of berth 22 to try to block entrances but police cleared a path and escorted longshoremen into the property around the protestors. Seeing delays along 580 and 80 as well towards the bay bridge. Traffic is backed up beyond the maze. So we have an accident westbound 80 at powell street in the Center Divide slow go and a live look at conditions at the bay bridge toll plaza. You can see slow conditions. Metering lights are on. Youre slow up the incline. It gets better though once you cross the span heading into San Francisco. No delays on the lower deck. That area of low pressure that deepened the marine layer down to Southern California where its producing rain towards san diego. So we have improving weather this afternoon with some mild to warm conditions. As well see mostly sunny skies away from the coastline, warmer weather to round out the rest of the week. That slow going to continue to slide on through for today. We have some drizzle early on this morning near the coastline. Once that low moves on out, High Pressure starts to sneak in and our temperatures will be warming up the next couple of days. So about 86 degrees and comfortable in sacramento for this time of year. Slight chance of thunderstorms up toward yosemite. 95 and partly cloudy in fresno and 68 and mostly cloudy into the monterey bay. Temperatures today will be running cooler than the average but not bad. 79 degrees in san jose. 76 in mountain view. 79 in redwood city. Some 60s toward the coastline. The patient is low risk according to the department of Public Health. Kaiser permanente sent out a statement yesterday. From an Infectious Disease specialist we are taking the actions recommended by the cdc as a precaution just as we do for other patients with a suspected Infectious Disease. This includes isolation of the patient in a specially equipped negative pressure room and the use of personal protective equipment by trained staff coordinated with Infectious Disease specialists. While kaiser patients were hearing of the possible ebola case from reporters they should let us know that and take better care of it we still dont know how this person may have been exposed to the virus.
