But around 10 00 this morning, this error message showed up on desktops. A hacker got users to unknowingly retweet this random code followed by a heart. Cnet Senior WriterSeth Rosenblatt says hackers have different motives. Sometimes its because they want password access. If you can get somebodys twitter credentials, for example, you might also be able to get access to their bank account if they are very lazy about using the same password for multiple services. In San Francisco, im simon perez, kpix 5. Texas governor rick perry is set to appear at San FranciscoCommonwealth Club in an hour. He is coming to california to lure business to his state. Perry was in sacramento yesterday. He tweeted out a picture of himself arriving in a tesla and made it clear he would like the company to build its new giga factory in texas. State lawmakers are considering legislation to relax regulations in order to entice tesla and other companies. The tesla giga factory could mean 6,000 new jobs. Today a federal court judge rejected chows bail request despite pleas from his attorney, who says his client is a changed man. Prosecutors argued chow is a potential danger to the community. San jose is cracking down on the hundreds of pot clubs operating in that city. The city has tough new rules. The clubs are going to have to be 1,000 feet from schools, parks and major businesses. They will also have to be at least 150 feet from homes. If the dispensaries dont comply in a year, they will have to close down. By putting regulations in place that make it up possible for clubs to operate, they are going that make it impossible for clubs to operate they are going to force another referendum. Well, the city of colma leads the bay area by far with 9 officers for every 1,000 citizens. Mike sugerman explains why such a small city has such a Strong Police presence. When we got some disclosures, the cost of what they were paying to irrigate, it became a big issue for the buyer and they canceled the property and bought a property with a low a drought tolerant landscape. Reporter he says even with a Housing Market on the rise, the drought is dropping prices. And he believes it will only get worse as we head deeper into the summer months. I dont see it getting better. A finish rescue operation is under way in a creek near gilroy. The department of fish and wildlife workers and volunteers trying to catch hundreds of steelhead trout. Those young fish are stranded in the low water cant make it to the ocean because of the drought. Theyre in trouble right now. Bigtime trouble. If we dont rescue them, they die. And theyre protected under the federal endangered species act. The rescuers are using small electrical charges to nudge those fish into their nets and then into a tank truck. They will be released three miles upstream in deeper water. Rescuers hope the trout can get back to the ocean next spring. So great white sharks may be one of the worlds most feared predators, right . It turns out theyre actually not at the top of the food chain. Reporter something was killing Joshua Osborn and he was running out of options and time. They tested for everything they knew. They tested for viruses and bacterias, certainly wasnt for a lack of trying. Reporter last year in wisconsin, he was in a medicallyinduced coma, his brain swelling with fluids. Joshs last hope was an experimental new test 2,000 miles away here at ucsf. This is the actual code. Reporter his fate to be determined by 1200 lines of computer code. Joshs dna was rushed to dr. Charles chiu who had been developing a test known as next generation sequencing. Joshs sample was put through a machine that cranks out millions of dna results in a few hours. Typical manual methods of doing see queency can only sequence maybe 10 to 100 sequences at a time. This machine can sequence up to 50 million. Reporter dr. Chiu ran the massive amount of test data through his software and this just 96 minutes he found a needle in a haystack a nasty bug called [ nonenglish language ] the reads found in joshs sample mapped across the entire genome of the organism. Im really serving as an advocate helping the individuals with getting their basic needs met.
