[ music ] reporter the airport even provides a public piano where travelers sit down and play but make no mistake, these are still tough times. Certainly, we did lose both airlines as well as passenger traffic during that recession. Reporter a recent study from m. I. T. Looked at all of the nations airports and found small and midsized airports bore the brunt of cutbacks by the airline during the recession. Here in the bay area, sfo saw a 21 increase in departures during the period while san jose and oakland both lost about a third of their flights. Now the fight is on to try to bring back that service. All we can really do is make a case for why their airline and why specific routes will be successful here. Reporter airports cant tell airplanes which routes to fly nor where to put their planes but they can offer incentives such as lower landing fees and better terminals. In the case of sjc, the proximity to Silicon Valley jobs and the Strong Economy are big selling points. San jose mayor chuck reed even set up an entire committee to focus on airport competitiveness. Sometimes you eat in a restaurant, you know, you see cockroaches and rats. You know, running around. Its pretty common. I dont usually eat walgreens food so it doesnt bother me one bit. But i mean, yeah, i guess it bothers me to know that such a store like walgreens would have rats in it. Reporter obviously, the Health Department gave both businesses the all clear to reopen. The Health Inspector did not specify where the mice were coming from. Certain species of fish as many people know can have unhealthy levels of mercury or can cause severe allergic reactions. The senators bill against seafood fraud would require labels on all varieties of fish or shellfish to clearly identify the species by its common name.
