Cool night tonight. 40s in the far north bay santa rosa 48 napa 51 san jose dropping down to 51 and oakland 55 degrees. As i mentioned a little bit of cloud cover earlier today thats because a front moved through and we had that strong onshore flow. The winds kicked up at sfo gusting to 36 Miles Per Hour within the past couple of hours. But now low pressure is on the move. By this time tomorrow, it is off to our east. Speaking of that there is a red flag warning in effect for the east bay hills and all Higher Elevations starting tonight. Roberta gonzales live every live in oakland checking out the conditions. We are here in the Oakland Hills directly below the oakland zoo where currently air temperatures at 67 degrees. The winds have died down a bit have been blowing up to a good 10 Miles Per Hour with stronger gusts. And the relative humidity now climbed to 50 . We decided to come here to the Oakland Hills because beginning later on tonight we have a red flag warning that goes into effect for the east bay hills, north bay hills and also the santa cruz mountains. But i got to thinking here, what does that really mean to all of us . Well, think back a couple of weeks ago, mount diablo fully engulfed in flames. Then back to october 19 of 1991. Oakland hills firestorm which thousands of homes burned. 25 people were killed. And this was all during the autumn months. Now, we take you back also 1923, 1970 and also 1980. The biggest blazes ever recorded right here in the east bay hills all during the autumn months when we have really low humidity and very little precipitation. So thinking about all that, what do you expect coming up for the next 24 to 48 hours . First off again high fire danger. Some very gusty winds especially in the highest elevations. And the relative humidity will drop to 20 . Maybe even the Single Digits in some areas. I was pleased to find here in the Oakland Hills today that a lot of this shrub has been cut down. What we have here is a lot of dust however. If you have a spark this dust keeps the spark close to the ground and smothers and could cause a fire so red flag warning in effect.
