Kpix 5s anne makovec is following the case and joins us live in the newsroom. Reporter some of these officers are accused of having sex with a girl who was under age. But our sources say it is unlikely that the d. A. Will actually charge them with statutory rape. Thats because they say the woman at the center of the scandal has lied and they dont have enough evidence to prove her claims. She goes by the name celeste guap the daughter of an Oakland Police dispatcher and in interviews she told officials she had sex with 14 officers from the oakland pd, three when she was under age. The oakland mayor announced wednesday that four officers have lost their jobs over this scandal but we have learned that actually two of them resigned a few months ago and one sergeant who was linked to the scandal retired last december. State law prevents her from sharing information about the specific officers but they will never work as police again. That goes on their permanent personnel record. That record will always be checked should that individual seek a Law Enforcement job. Reporter seven or officers caught in the scandal are suspended without pay. But for some of them, thats for no more than two weeks. We are hearing that several could appeal. Some of the possible criminal charges that could be announced today, attempted sexual assault, lewd conduct, assisting in the crime of prostitution, or accessing Law Enforcement databases for personal gain. Yes, Livermore Police announced one of their officers resigned after being accused of having sex with guap. She is also implicating officers from richmond and three l. A. County deputies. Former 49er bruce miller is set to hear the charges against him today. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court. Its for charges related to an incident early monday morning. Prosecutors say that miller was drunk and attacked an older man and his son. Miller is facing seven felony charges including assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors say he used a cane to beat the 70yearold man. He is also charged with inflicting injury on an elder. Two counts of criminal threats, as well. Miller was shown on Surveillance Video wandering the halls around the time after the tax. He was cut from the team that day. The man suspected in car shootings in blossom hill road in san jose is due in court today. Michael lewis was in court yesterday to face weapons possession charges. Todays appearance will involve charges directly related to the shootings along blossom hill road. No one was seriously hurt in the shootings. San jose police say they were able to link a weapon found in lewis home to bullets and casings found in four of the 10 shootings. San Francisco Police offering a quarter of a Million Dollars to close a murder case that happened more than a year ago. In january last year gunmen started shooting into a car on laguna street in hayes valley. Four men were shot multiple times and each died at the scene. The facilities would let people use drugs under medical supervision. Right now there are three Needle Exchange sites in oakland where users can get clean needles. We know that in cities where they exist, overdose rates go down, infections go down, um, public injection goes down, less people are injecting on the street. Theres less needles on the street. The only injection site open in north america is in vancouver, canada. That still needs to be approval and funding to open one in the united states. The suspect in the so called suitcase murder in san diego could end up facing the death penalties. A judge decided yesterday that josh palmer will face murder charges. He is eligible for the Death Penalty because his crime includes rape and sodomy. He is accused of killing a woman after seeing her with other men. A bank robber stole cash and walked away. This woman allegedly robbed the u. S. Bank on mission boulevard on july 18. Police say the suspect respect told a bank teller she had a gun and wanted cash. The employee gave her an undisclosed amount and now officers hope customers will recall the womans distinctive leggings. Items of interest are being analyzed this morning after they were found at a dig site in california. Fbi agents and local sheriffs deputies have been excavating a site near the calpoly campus in San Luis Obispo over the last few days. Looking for the remains of 19 yearold kristin smart who was last seen returning to her dorm more than two decades ago. Authorities havent said what items were found. Similar to yesterday starting off with gray skies and low clouds. 50s out the door this morning. Futurecast, those clouds have moving inland but they will pull back to the coast today although we enhance that marine layer. And the more impressive that marine layer gets the more impressive the onshore flow and the cooler our temperatures get aespecially along the coast and get, especially along the coast and by the bay. Thats what well see today. I think inland will see sunshine but well certainly see the low clouds lingering along the coast as we beef up the marine layer. Why . Well, low pressure in play, thats helping to increase our sea breeze, increase that marine influence. And as that sea breeze continues today, we will see temperatures similar to yesterday, although slightly warmer for some spots inland places like concord, livermore, you will warm a little bit above what you saw yesterday because you were very cool yesterday. Most of us staying in that same temperature range. 60s at the coast, mid60s around the bay as well and topping out near 70 degrees for the warmer spots around the bay. Oakland at 69. 81 redwood city. 77 in Mountain View. 81 san jose. Upper 80s to near 90 degrees for the warmest spots places like concord and livermore, slightly cooler than yesterday. 75 santa rosa, 82 napa, 89 in fairfield. Sunrise today 6 47. Sunset this evening, 7 26. A look at the extended forecast shows if you think these temperatures are cool, well, just wait a few days. Because they are about to get cooler. I know a lot of folks were hoping we would see that september warmup that we often see in San Francisco. We saw it for a couple of days. But now temperatures are cooling. [chuckling] so we are going to top out near 90 for friday and saturday. Thats the warmest spots inland. Upper 60s near 70 by the bay. 60s with some cloud cover along the coast. Heading into early next week, the warmest spots inland monday, tuesday into wednesday, upper 70s to near 80 degrees and thats the hot spot, guys. So now im not being perky, telling you that drivers that switch to progressive save an average of 548 whoo i mean, whoo. Workers. Saying they cread more than two mi a big scandal at San Franciscobased wells fargo bank. Its fired thousands of workers saying they created more than 2 million phony accounts so they could get bonuses. About 5300 employees are accused of using deceptive practices like creating phony p. I. N. Numbers and email addresses in order to meet sales targets. Customers were charged fees for the bogus accounts. Wells fargo agreed to refund 2. 5 million in fees. This wasnt a little bit of shillly shalllying on the side or a few odd shenanigans. This was miscreant behavior on an industrial scale the bank will pay a much larger amount to the federal government and california agencies. The fines add up to 185 million. The Alameda CountyDistrict Attorney is holding a press Conference Today at noon. Kpix 5s anne makovec reports. Reporter some of these officers are are accused of having sex with an underaged girl but they probably wont be charged with statutory rape because the woman at the center of the scandal has not always been truthful. And they dont have enough evidence to prove her claims. She goes by the name celeste guap. In interviews she told officials she had sex with 14 officers from the Oakland Police department, and three of them when she was under age. The oakland mayor announced on wednesday that four officers had been fired er
