He returned to the car he says the child was gone from her car seat a man passing by said her father was so disessed he hadnt even called police. He seemed to be in disarray. Were on top of story. Now developing story in the crash at sfo. Victims and families toured the crash side. Imagine how emotional that must have been. Two groups of buses went to the site. We have learned the first group included eight family members of two 16yearold girls that died. As buses aarrived at the wreckage and plane and debris have been on the runway since saturdays crash and they examine the wreckage. It was another day of startling new revelations in the crash of flight 214. Reporter vic lee has an update from South San Francisco where the ntsb revealed this new information. N. T. S. B. Investigators are trying to understand why the all mated cockpit system that controls speed and altitude was set in multiple modes before landing. Those Automated Systems are extremely sophisticated especially in triple 7s but in the end, pilots are still responsible for the planes performance. There are two pilots in the cockpit for a reason. They are there to fly, to navigate and to communicate and if they are icing automation, a big key is to monitor. Investigators interviewed six of the 12 cabin attendants. The lead attendant gave this account of the conversation with the pilot immediately after the plane crashed landed. The flight crew told the Flight Attendant not to initiate an evacuation. They were communicating with the tower about the emergency. There was a senior cabinet day ten cant and ordered the evacuation. A minute and a half after the aircraft came to a stop, door 2l closely followed by 1l were opened and the slides were deployed. The inference was that the evacuation should have happened sooner. She also described the chaotic scene inside the cabin where Flight Attendants were trying to evacuate the passengers while they attempted to extinguish the growing flames. She also confirmed the piloted at the controls told investigators he saw something strange as he approached sfo. Flying pilot has stated to korean authorities there was flash of light temporarily at 500 feet that blinded him. Our investigators did interview the flying pilot. He did relay some of that information to our investigators. N. T. S. B. Is wrapping up the onsite investigation here at the airport. The chairman told us that investigators may be able to relinquish that runway as early as tonight. The investigation will continue in an offsite location as the wreckage of that plane and debris are removed. Dan abc 7 news has obtained the 911 calls made directly from passengers that escaped from the plane. Hear the calmness of the voices to the people right after the crash and then they become more agitated as they waited for help. Were at San Francisco airport and our airplane just crashed upon landing and i think you need someone. People are trapped on the plane, i know some people have gotten off already. The majority of people got off. I think there are at least a handful of people behind me. It crashed, there are people in there on the tarmac seriously injured. He would have reports. Are you on the plane . Yes, i was on the plane. We were on the ground 20 minutes, half an hour. There are people laying on the tarmac with critical injuries. Some of the 911 calls from people on that plane that survived the crash. 12 flit attendants from the flight 214 returned to the airports which was billed as a News Conference but Mark Matthews that the flight crew left reporters with a lot more questions. Officials with the airlines backed photographers away as six crew members walked through the terminal, one of Flight Attendants still in a wheelchair. Cabin manager taking the podium and delivering a brief Opening Statement about the passengers. I hope that all the families who suffered losses from this accident to recover as quickly as possible and they are all in my prayers. Today the National Transportation safety board revealed just how many of the Flight Attendants were injured. Of the dozen that were on board, six are still in the hospital. There was one Flight Attendant at one r. She is hospitalized and she was pinned by one of the evacuation slides. There is one Flight Attendant at the 2r door she was also pinned by one of the evacuation slides that deployed inside the aircraft. In a News Conference over the weekend, they were placed for helping passengers evacuate the plane carrying one boy on her back and later discovering shear had broken her tailbone but today the cabin manager would say nothing about the rescue. Asiana personnel are working as hard as possible to recover from this accident. Then she bowed to reporters and that was it. No further statement. No questions answered. It was very briefest of News Conferences. She delivered exactly two sentences and you saw every bit of it. We are learning new details from a parent and temperature of two girls that died. A chinese newspaper reporter interviewed the mother, a girl on the right in this picture. Her mom says she was originally not going to let her daughter go on the u. S. The head overseeing the new bay bridge project decision to push back the opening until 32 broken bolts are retrofitted is unnecessary and potentially dangerous. I dont want any day longer than necessary. We could have an earthquake at any time and old bridge is not safe. The suggestion as a temporary fix for the bolts that would allow the east span to on sooner came during a briefing. Idea was a bit of a surprise to caltrans and officials who earlier this week the opening of new span had to be pushed back to at least december. Yes, i was surprised because i was unaware of its existence. The doctor says the temporary solution could be put in place in a months time. That would allow for the bridge to open to traffic while the permanent fix, saddle system is being installed. Why not do it . It seems illegal logical not to consider. We should illogical not to consider it. Caltrans says the saddle retrofit will cost at least least 20 million including the cost of replacing hundreds of other suspect bolts. They were all seated in the jump seat in the rear of the plane. Investigators confirmed reports that the pilots delayed ordering an evacuation. We were overhead at one of the schools in oakland this afternoon. They are loading up evidence but would not say why they were serving the warrant or what they were looking for. There are three American Indian model schools which are some of the best performing in the nation. Oakland school board revoked the schools charter because of financial impropriety. A judge ordered school could stay open while the school appealed. We contacted American IndianSchool Representatives but they could not comment.
