reporter: the latest from the attorney general's offense is that when they searched this house late this afternoon and well into the evening here they found inside an assault rifle, ammunition, a shotgun, 20-pounds of processed marijuana and $40,000 in cash. at 2:20 wednesday aftertwa s.w.a.t. teams and agents stormed on to the cull desack off of old back hawk road and surrounded this house. neighbors cowered in their homes as they watched officer first to call for any one in the house to come out with their hands in the air. >> they shot at the door, blew up in the window and they had one of those robots with a camera go in and then that came out and then they reviewed the video of that and sent in a dog and the dug went in on a long leash and came back out and looked like 8 of them went in and searched the house from that and we watched it all from your window. >> reporter: a woman who drove up in a black suv was promptly handcuffed, whisked away and taken away from newark police. it was in newark that simultaneously a raid was underway i at the happiness wellness medical marijuana dispensary. an investigation was launched into the disis penceary at the request of newark city officials who say it was operating criminally claiming that those who ran it was pocketing a six figure income per month when it was supposed to be not for are profit. >> it was completely a nonprofit. nobody is making that kind of money. the collective is providing medication to its patients who are sick california residents with cancer. they are growing the medicine for them, prohe riding it to them and just being reimbursed for costs and expenses and all of this is just pure harassment. >> reporter: officials say the arrest warrants are for conspiracy along with possession and sales of marijuana. and officials say they are still searching for three men, one of them is a convicted felon. in danville, leslie brinkley, kb go and abc 7 news. >> people living near the site of two violent sexual assaults in san francisco are meeting with city officials tonight to discuss how to help with the investigation and make their neighborhood safer. both women were attacked on 24th street in the mission. one last thursday morning, the other in november. the san francisco police department released this video of the attacker. he is described as a black male in his mid 30s between 59-point and 6 feet tall and medium build and wearing a black hoody and dark pants. alarming statistics about rape from the centers for disease control and prevention. the agency says one in five women will be raped in the course of her lifetime. 80% of the incidents happen before a woman is 25. one in six women is stalked usual live hia text message, social networking sites or unwanted phone calls. roughly one in seven men experience violence at the hands of an intimate partner at one point in their lives. thieves made off with a box of cash. inside, hundreds of dollars of donations for fundraisers all year long. we won't get help from the district. >> as the band played its biggest fundraiser concert of the year tuesday night a pair of thieves descended on the parents raising money in the lobby and snatched a box containing more than $700. >> it is discouraging when two people can come in and take something away that is so needed. >> we were shocked by the incident and disheartened. >> the school district turned over surveillance video to police who are looking for at least one juvenile suspect. meantime, the district will have extra security on campus but with the thieves still on the loose the principal had to make another tough decision. she he canceled friday night's winter dance which was also a fundraiser for the school band. >> we can't take any chances. our kids' safety is the most important for us right now, not money. >> the students continue to practice their drums and marching routines but their teacher can tell they are hurting on the inside. >> they ever feeling kind of low. they worked so hard to put the program on knowing it would help raise money for us. they are feeling really down that a big part of that was taken from them. >> reporter: school district officials say while the investigation continues the middle school band is accepting donations to make up for the loss. parents who want to donate can send money straight to the school. jonathan blum, abc 7 news. in oakland, angry parents are hoping to call five school board members who voted to close five elementary school there's. >> we feel that the school board has lost its connection to the community. >> the board is meeting tonight and a group called the concerned parent and community coalition is providing hundreds of signatures to launch a recall effort. the board members say several factors played into decisions to close the schools. >> here in oakland our budget has decreased by about a third over the last three years which is one of the factors driving this decision to close schools. >> today's move is only a first step. the signatures on the recall petition need to be verified by the county elections offense to get on to next year's ballot. board memberare elected officials. thousands of middle class students at uc berkeley will get a financial break beginning next year. the first for a public university. lyanne melendez explains how it works. >> attending uc berkeley has a price tag of more than $32,000 a year that is with room and board. while 40% of students get help from the state and federal government, the middle class is having trouble affording cal. >> we don't want challenging economic times to be a barrier to access to what we believe is one of the nation's premier public universities. >> reporter: enter mcap which stands for middle class access plan. families earning between $80,000 and $140,000 qualify. here is how you it works. say a family makes $100,000 a year. the most they will pay is 15%. in other words, $15,000. their son or daughter will also have to contribute by taking out loans or using some of their savings. berkeley will then make up the difference. the university will rely on philanthropic donations to fund the program. >> out-of-state students pay higher fees and some of the revenue from that is going be used to provide resources for middle class access. >> reporter: the university says a quarter or close to 6,000 middle class students will benefit from the program. >> there is an opportunity to financial aid that will make my life a lot easier in terms of affording college. >> my parents are trying to pay for are my education and my brother's and my sister's so hopefully this plan will help us out. >> the program is being offered only at cal for now. parents must fill out group of homeless is veterans on the peninsula. a highly successful program there is shutting its doors after helping thousands of down and out veterans over the past decade. vic lee reports from menlo park. >> reporter: this will be anything but a happy holiday for the 150 veterans being forced to leave what they call their home. norma gavin served in the air force in vietnam. >> it was like a family, you know. i'm sorry if i tear up. but it's true. this place, most vietnam vets were never welcomed home and this place welcomed us back with open arms. >> reporter: in its 11 year history, 7,000 people have passed through the doors of the homeless veterans emergency facility in menlo park. they rebuilt their lives, escaped from addiction and found jobs. 28-year-old eric is a navy veteran. >> i went from a falling down drunk on the street to living in a house now with a job and a car and, yolks you know you knk account. >> the build willing be demolished because it is seismically unsafe. they have extended the eviction deadline numerous times over several years. residents have been relocated to shelters and temporary housing. >> when we issued the notice of closure we made a promise that no one would be on street and we have been able to live up to that. >> reporter: many worry without each other's support and the safety of the facility they may, once again slide into the dark side. >> not everybody is a veteran. there are people using. and that is the big difference. here it is like a little family. >> and john is going to -- >> reporter: a former homeless veteran. er started the shelter, partnering with the v.a. which provided the building and grant money. goodwin says there is still hope the former residents reunite under one roof. he is talking to another owner of a building he would like to lease. >> we could house 200 veterans in the new facility. >> reporter: it is too early in the negotiations process to say he can get fat silt rush hour we will see some light rain or showers moving into northern sonoma county, perhaps parts of coastal marin county. during the continuing the following early morning hours we will see the front sweeping south a little bit and rain will reach other parts of the bay area. by mid to late morning, 11:00 or so the front out of here, so will the rainfall. partial clearing in the late morning hours and mostly sunny skies in the afternoon. now, how much rainfall can we expect? our projection for rainfall totals are way on the light side from just no measurable rainfall at all to about maybe 5/100-inch in the wettest locations. this is not going be much of a rainfall event for us. speak of rain, let's take a look at percentage of average rainfall for the season to date. you can see that every location is well below the average. only 44% of the average in santa rosa. 41 san jose. 50 san francisco. we need rainfall badly. high temperatures tomorrow. once things clear out we reach into
