Reporter this motorcycle rider lost control on the i17 southbound. You can see here, after he lost control, he hit the chain link barrier. We shot video earlier this morning kind of showing more of the scene. Dps says this happened about 2 30 this morning. They are not sure what made this motorcycle rider lose control. Rider was thrown and unfortunately was pronounced dead here at the scene. Dps is still investigating this. Right now we have at least one lane closed and that lane closure is actually this fourth lane that goes into the greenway off ramp. So if youre coming down i17 southbound, expect that closure before you hit that greenway off ramp. Again, the motorcycle rider somehow lo that chain link fence and was pronounced dead at the scene. Thank y. Dps investigating another bad crash that happened early this morning on the loop 101 near 27th avenue in north phoenix. Were told a car crashed into a tow truck trying to remove a vehicle for impound. We are working to find out if dps on the scene of another crash at the i17 stack right now. Were told a driver crashed into another vehicle and didnt stop. That ramp is closed from the i 17 southbound to the 10 westbound as the investigation continues. We are told there is also a lot of toilet paper in the roadway, caused by this crash. That will have to get cleaned up also. No word yet on any injuries. Police brutality or necessary roughness . This is video we shot at that time. Dps says the 39yearold male from phoenix his motorcycle. They are not sure and speed doesnt seem to be a factor. The damage along the fence doesnt indicate he was going that fast. He did ram up against that chain link fence, got thrown from his motorcycle about 10 feet. Dps says there was a helmet at the scene. They are not sure in the rider was wearing that helmet or if they are investigating for perhaps a possible medical condition, or perhaps he fell asleep and lost control. Of course always checking impairment, but they say it doesnt seem to be a factor in this case. The i17 very close to opening back up, probably open within the half hour if not the next 15 minutes.
