This one happening last night near 43rd avenue and bethany police. They tell us they should have an update sometime this morning. We know one person was killed in this incident. Allison, a woman taken to the hospital from this scene. We are told a driver lost control near 67th avenue in glendale, crashing into a telephone pole. Officers say that driver did suffer minor injuries and was taken to the hospital to get checked out. A drunk driver likely the reason for this scene happening early this morning. A driver crashed on the loop 101 right no other vehicles were involved. No word if that driver was hurt and taken to the hospital or even arrested. It was an emotional week in court as the man accused of killing a 2yearold girl plans to change his plea to guilty. Its a move Family Members of Savannah Cross have been waiting for nearly four years. Abc15s Maryellen Resendez is joining us live now. You have been in touch with the reporter the grandmother has kept in touch with me through facebook for several years now. She says the family feels like they are finally going to get justice for 2yearold Savannah Cross. Now, according to Court Documents they show that ryan reid is expected to plead guilty. That is an official plea. He went to court last week, pleading to seconddegree murder in exchange for a plea deal. According to Family Members that will land him in prison with no possibility of parole for 24 years. 2yearold Savannah Cross died in september of 2012 whileata home daycare ran by reid and Allison Clement. Detectives said reid stomped on her stomach and that Allison Clement didnt do anything to stop it or report it. Now, police at that time also said that savannahs mother, ashley, left savannah at this daycare for several weeks at a time, only showing up to make injuries and discovered that she also had acute methamphetamine exposure. Now, Allison Clement also has a plea deal on the table. That deal is going to expire on tuesday. Now, we are told that she has not accepted that deal yet. She has until tuesday. If not, she will go to trial later this month actually, in september. All right. Maryellen thank you. 5 04. They should have their own department in the valley. Un phoenix fire having to rescue another person saturday on piestwa peak after a woman was too tired and dehydrated to make it down on her own. She was on her way up for a second time when she became dizzy and did not have enough water. A hiker says she was going past her when the woman flagged him down for help. She was distressed. Not feeling well. 911 . She said, please. Thankfully that guy was there. Fire crews helped her rehydrate and assisted her down the mountain. Lets go over to prescott. Visit a playground in honor of kayla mueller. She was captured and killed while in the hands of isis. Mueller was a humanity, volunteering overseas. She was killed last year. Her parents spoke briefly at the dedication yesterday saying they could feel her presence there and she would be proud other families. The community gathered to build this space to honor her. You know that the mueller family is going to never get over it. I cant imagine losing a child. But had is the Silver Lining to that dark cloud. If a couple kids grow up saying i want to be like kayla, we did good here today. The playground features a zip line, slides, swings and more. Two men behind bars this charges. Police say that 25yearold jamie knox and eric white were arrested for breaking into a buckeye home near baseline and miller. The front door was open and a window got smashed. Police say witnesses and a video helped them find these guys. Dps telling us an arrest has been made after a deadly hitandrun crash that happened in the west valley at 99th avenue and van buren. Officials say the pedestrian was hit in the road and the driver took off, leaving that person to die. We are working to learn who that suspect is. A man is waiting to be extradited back to pima county facing multiple counts of Sexual Exploitation of a minor. The Sheriffs Office telling us that 48yearold brian foley was arrested in amarillo, texas. They say that they tried to serve a warrant last week, but foley skipped town. He is in now in a amarillo jail and will be sent back to arizona. Death of deshawn mcdonald. He was gunned down last weekend. Thats where loved ones gathered for a vigil last night. He was known as d mac deluxx. He would have been 27 yesterday. Instead of a celebration, his family is mourning his loss. I was supposed to be meeting him over here. I came and found him. Situation is hard for me right now. I could imagine it would be tough for anybody. Still no arrests made in this case either. Anybody with info is urged to Call Phoenix Police or call silent witness as well. A person abused a small dog and then left it to die. The dog was found with trauma to its body near 69th avenue in van buren in phoenix. Maricopa county animal care and sadly, it had to be put down because the injuries were too severe. They say if the puppy had been treated sooner, it probably would have recovered. If you didnt want the dog, why didnt you just give it away to someone who did . The fact that you look at one of those innocent creatures and inflict damage on them knowing that theyre getting hurt and ultimately have died as a result of this, you have to wonder about the persons well being. That is just heartbreaking. The case being investigated as felony animal cruelty. And hikers on mount lemon. A bear has been prowling around that area and it doesnt seem to be afraid of humans. It was spotted on friday. Game and fish Officials Say that the bear isnt really aggressive, but has followed hikers around the trail. The problem is, of course, are the funds. So they have actually set up a fund, and anyone who wants to take action can help this family come to phoenix so they can be here for the sentencing. They want to face ryan reid exactly what he took know exactly what he took from them. Ryan reid is expected to plead guilty to seconddegree murder on tuesday in exchange for 24 years with no parole. There is also an additional 11 years. We dont know if thats going to run concurrent for child abuse. 2yearold Savannah Cross died in december of 2012 at a home daycare. Detectives said at the time that reid stomped on savannahs stomach and nothing to stop it or report it. An autopsy report confirmed the injuries. They also discovered she had acute methamphetamine exposure. Now, when we spoke with savannahs father in colorado the last time we spoke with him he was still coming to grips with his daughters death. I am disgusted right now. The thief was caught on camera. You can see the guy walk into the desert sky mall. There he is on july 6th. He runs up necklace off, and runs to a waiting getaway car. The woman ran after him but couldnt reach him. Police say that the crook is about 17. He jumped into a Gray Chrysler pt cruiser. If you know anything about this crime, please call silent witness. A Murder Investigation in yuma. A man was taken into custody after a 36yearold woman was killed. Police say they responded to a Domestic Violence call finding that woman outside of the home with lifethreatening injuries. Die. A man that home was taken into custody, too. Yuma police are asking anybody with info to come forward. We are waiting to learn the name of a man shot and killed by Police Yesterday morning at an apartment complex near 57th avenue and thomas. We brought it to you as breaking news. Authorities are saying he pointed a gun at them, forcing an officer to shoot. Police say a woman sent a text to a Family Member saying she and her two children needed help. Her exboyfriend allegedly high on drugs, armed with a gun. Police responded in full force with seven officers at her door. The woman opened the door and the subject then appeared in the hallway. The suspect presented a gun, pointed it at the officers. One of the officers fired on the suspect, ending the threat. Yeah. The 25yearold man died on scene. The woman, her children, and the officers were not hurt. We are working to learn the current condition of a man who near 51st avenue and mcdowell. We talked with the driver who stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. She says the man stumbled out into the street before getting hit. He was rushed to the hospital with a head injury. Meantime, fire investigators are still trying to figure out what sparked these flames near 35th avenue and greenway. Firefighters from phoenix and glendale called out. The flames and heavy smoke spread through the threelevel home, badly damaging the garage and attic. Thankfully, everybody inside was able to get out safely. This is not the way a valley driver hopes to spend the weekend. Our adot cameras showing a car on fire at the loop 101 and bell road. Thankfully, no reports of any injuries there. Now, a Court Document shows that ryan reid is set to officially plead guilty to a judge for seconddegree murder on tuesday in exchange for a plea deal that he agreed upon last week. Now, that, according to Family Members, could land him in prison for 24 years without patrol. 2yearold Savannah Cross died in december of 2012 while at an Allison Clement. Now, detectives said reid stomped on her stomach at that time and that Allison Clement did nothing to stop it or report it. Now, police also said that savannahs mother left savannah at the daycare for weeks at a time, sometimes only showing up to make payment. An autopsy report confirmed the injuries and discovered she also had acute methamphetamine exposure. Allison clement has a plea agreement on the table. She has not that yet. They had to rescue a woman and her two dogs trapped in their cars due to the flash flooding. No reports of any injuries, but rain is forecast there for the rest of the week. Missouri not the only ones dealing with flooding, either. Look at the high waters in eyes there. People having to evacuate their home as the feet above flood stage. Over 100 firefighters helping people down the river to load up sandbags in preparation of the floodwaters headed their way. We brought this to you as breaking news yesterday morning. Police say a woman sent a text to her Family Member saying she and her two children needed help. Her exboyfriend allegedly showing up to the apartment high on drugs and armed with a gun. Police responded in full force, too, with seven officers knocking on her door. The woman opened the door and the subject then appeared in the hallway. The suspect presented a gun, pointed it at the officers. One of the officers fired on the suspect ending the threat. I have been talking or actually got a facebook message from kathy cross, which is 2year old Savannah Cross grandmother. She said the family is trying to travel in to be here when ryan reid is actually sentenced for the murder of that 2year old little girl. Russian reid is expected to plead guilty, officially guilty to seconddegree murder on tuesday in exchange for 24 years with no parole. There is an additional 11 for child abuse charges. We are not sure if the thats going to be up to the judge. 2yearold Savannah Cross died in december of 2012 while at a home daycare which was ran by ryan reid and Allison Clement. Now, detectives then said that ryan reid stomped on her stomach and that Allison Clement did nothing to stop it or report it. An autopsy report confirmed those injuries and also discovered that savannah had acute methamphetamine exposure. When we spoke to savannahs father in colorado he was still coming to grips daughters death. I am disgusted right now. Nobody should lay their hands on a child.
