48 degrees in the east bay and peninsula. Were heading into the upper 60s today, San Francisco 65 degrees but 70 in the north bay and feeling very comfortable as well in the east bay and peninsula with a high of 67 degrees. We will take a look at the forecast heading into the weekend. At this point it stays dry is more on that coming up in a few minutes. Lets see whats happening at the bay bridge with mike. Not a lot. We love that in the traffic report, a smooth drive. We do have cars westbound, good flow of traffic into and out of San Francisco. The map shows you the same inning for the Speed Sensors on other side approaching the bay bridge, we have road crews with typical closures through the east shore freeway and maze. No problems for the caldecott. Bay point to North Concord station the shuttle train for the bart. No delays, guys. Back to you. Thank you very much, mike. 5 01. A really terrifying 24 hours for europe after back to back terror attacks in brussels. The country still shaken over event events. Right now security is amped up throughout europe, especially in belgium and hundreds of flights in and out of brussels are canceled. The airport remains closed after dual attacks left dozens dead and almost 200 injured. Of course, many still on edge as Police Uncover more clues about the two dead suicide bombers in yesterdays attacks. And we learn more about the last surviving suspect. We have multiple reports this morning on these developing stories including how people in the bay area are standing in solidarity with belgium. First lets going to kris sanchez for an update on the terror investigation. What have we learned . There were hopeful reports in the last few hours by belgian media that the third suspect, the one who walked away from the Brussels Airport, had been arrested, but nbc news says they cannot verify that information and now they believe that information to be false. So that person still out there. Nonetheless here he is in a surveillance image from the Brussels Airport moments before the attacks. He is 24yearold najim laachraoui, he was with the two brothers who blew themselves up, they are on the left, they are khalid and ibrahim el bakraoui, each has a violent criminal history and links to the november terror attacks in paris. Authorities conducted raids outside brussels overnight and found a bomb making factory with nails and bolts consistent with those found at the airport. In a new statement this morning isis claims this could be just the first of more black days to come in europe. I dont feel secure and i dont want to go home now. Authorities say that they knew there was an attack in the works they just did not know what the target was, they did not know it would be the airport and subway system. Authorities were guided in in part by a cab driver who says he dropped off three men at the airport with very heavy luggage, they wouldnt allow him to touch. We now know that nbc has confirmed that it appears to be that the suitcases contained about 40 pounds of an explosive that is often used as a fertilizer. So readily available material. Sam. Thank you very much. Right now as we saw the am em real, the live pictures from brussels, the world is mourning the loss right now of the dozens killed in yesterdays brutal attacks. That includes here in the bay area. People from all over came to San Francisco last night to show their solidarity with the people of belgium. Today in the bay Stephanie Chuang live at city hall. Shining bright with the colors of belgian flag. Nice tribute. Reporter a nice tribute last night, the city hall colors, not there anymore, but it was in those belgian flag colors black, yellow and red as local belgians gathered here to honor the victims. And there you could hear some of the belgians singing their National Anthem with the flag colors painted on their faces. Many came to write a message, lay flowers or light candles at a memorial. One woman came with her family, she moved from brussels 18 months ago and would have been at the airport where she worked is what she said where a coworker was hurt. He will be okay, but he is badly injured. And the people who were sitting at my desk, they were all helping with first care. Reporter so hitting very close to home. She did bring her sevenyearold son to add to the messages of hope and love. She did have a conversation with him about what happened. Meantime the Belgian Trade Commission says it is responsible for taking those notes and the memorial and making sure that it gets to those in belgium. Live here at San Franciscos city hall, Stephanie Chuang, today in the bay. Surviving a terror attack is no doubt life changing now we know a young man has done it not once but twice. 19yearold mason wells from sandy, utah was badly injured in yesterdays attack, he is one of nine americans who were injured but survived. He was standing just feet away from where one of those bombs detonated inside of the airport in brussels, but he is expected to make a full recovery. Wells was in brussels finishing up his Mormon Mission. Three years ago he and his father were watching masons mother run in the Boston Marathon when the Pressure Cooker bomb went off about a block from where they were standing. It is Amazing Stories of survival youre hearing. Another american couple who survived the attack at the airport at brussels say the paris massacre came to mind when the blast ripped through the Airline Check in area. My thought at the time was thats one, thats two, three is coming, maybe even four and given what we know about what happened in paris i thought theres a good chance im going to start hearing rifle fire. Jeff hoffman saw a soldier and made a run for the door with his girlfriend behind him. They saw people on the ground not moving. Bay area based companies are offering help however they can. Airbnb activated a special Disaster Response tool for People Living in belgium. Theyre asking people to list their homes for free to anyone who needs help in that area. On social media theyre also using the hashtag host in brussels to let others know that they have space available. Facebook set up its safety check feature following the explosions the options let users living near the attack sites mark themselves as safe. Wireless carriers are offering free calls and text to belgium. Verizon, sprint and at and a all set to be participating. Here in the bay area lets see what were in for for this wednesday morning. It will be a beautiful day, sam and laura, but after we have the chilly temperatures to start we warm up into the 60s and even low 70s today. Its 39 degrees in livermore, napa 40 degrees and 49 degrees in San Francisco. And we are up to 70 in gilroy, halfmoon bay 65 as well as 65 in the financial district. We dont see any slowing on the Speed Sensors or on the live shot. A marng as you head down toward marina there may be metal in the midful of the roadway. The rest of the bay moves very well. Overnight road crews blocking a lane or two here or there. Here is the south bay. Right here of the 280 off ramp at saratoga has an overnight crew there. Back to you. Coming up next, the fight between the 49ers and the city of santa clara coming to an end. The decision made last night that could have the team paying up big bucks. Im bob redell, im at stanford where in a few hours from now Hillary Clinton will deliver a counterterrorism speech in response to yesterdays attacks in brussels. That story coming up. Startea polical nversionheret h the attacks abroad have started a political conversation right here at home. President ial candidates right now starting to weigh in on the fight against terrorism. Today in the bay bob redell live at stanford where Hillary Clinton will be discussing counterterrorism later today. Very timely, bob. Reporter good morning. Senator Hillary Clinton had already planned to be in town for a pair of fundraisers here on the peninsula, but in response to yesterdays terrorist attacks in brussels belgium she has decided to add a stop here at Stanford University where she will deliver a speech on counterterrorism. That will be happening around 11 15 this morning. A news release from her campaign indicates that clinton will reaffirm her resolve to defeat isis if elected commander in chief. All five candidates running for office responded to yesterdays attack that killed 34 people. Their responses demonstrate the rift between democrats and republicans and how to handle this terrorist threat. For instance, Republican Donald Trump says close the borders, senator ted cruz wants police to start patrolling muslim communities. Anywhere where there is a locust of radicalization, where there is an expanding presence of radical islamic terrorists we need Law Enforcement resources directed there. What donald trump, ted cruz and others are suggesting is not only wrong, its dangerous. Reporter democrat Bernie Sanders and republican john kasich also disagree with senator cruzs statement. Reporting live here at Stanford University, bob redell, today in the bay. At 5 14 right now. Turning to decision 2016. Counting the results. President ial candidates donald trump and Hillary Clinton inching their way to that full nomination. Last night Hillary Clinton won arizona and 46 delegates there. She h 1637 delegates and need around 700 more to get that nomination. Bernie sanders won utah and idaho. He has 928 delegates. On the republican side trump won arizona, ted cruz won utah, trump, however, way ahead on the delegate count, he has 744 delegates to cruzs 468. New this morning gop rifle jeb bush now officially putting his support behind ted cruz in the race for the president ial nomination. Bush announcing his endorsement this morning. In a statement jeb calls for republicans to move past the divisiveness brought on by Donald Trumps president ial campaign. Mr. Bush left the race last month after losing to South Carolina primary. A courtroom show down between apple and the fbi was canceled on tuesday after the fbi asked for a delay. Scott mcgrew joins us. The fbi says they may not need apple to hack into that phone they found a possible other way. We are talking about the one in the San Bernardino terror case. The fbi says it might be able to hack the phone itself and we said the very same thing earlier this month. As we consulted with one of the top Security Experts in the field, bob zeidman who opens technology for Law Enforcement. He said he was sure outside companies could do it and the fbi didnt need apple. The fbi has not said who is going to open that phone them and for all we know it is actualactua actualactua actualactua actually zeidmans company. We dont know. Used in the terror attacks they used burner phones untraceable if purchased by cash. We return to landon dowdy live at cnbc world headquarters. Good morning. Hi, scott, good morning to you. A new study by the union of concerned scientists says electric cars are better than gasoline cars for the environment. You would think that would be incredibly obvious, electric cars have no direct emissions after all, but there has been concern over the manufacturer of the battery. That is very difficult on the environment, but the Scientific Study says all in all even considering the battery, even if the electricity used a created by coal, electric cars are still better for the environment. There is the reason to go out and get one. Plug that in for information. A victory of sorts for street enders and street artists who lost business during the super bowl. They are now entitled to reimbursements. Yesterday supervisors voted to offset the financial losses for anyone displaced when San Francisco closed off the area around Justin Herman plaza and market street. That closure lasting about three weeks. 100,000 lob allocated to a general fund and those who were hit the hardest will be entitled to 600. Super bowl sized rent dispute between santa clara and the 49ers. Last night city leaders punted on an agreement. The city says the 9ers should pay 25 million in rent for playing at levis, the 9ers say should be closer to 20 million. The team is asking for a rent reset. Last Night Council members received new numbers from the team reflecting Development Costs and expenses. This he agreed to a lot 15 days in order to crunch the numbers and reach an agreement. If not a third Party Mediator will be called in. Maybe having a totally independent set of size looking at the data will point out some factors that both sides havent seen. The 9ers issued a saying in part, we are disappointed that the council decided to discard months of negotiations between the city, their outside counsel and the 49ers and instead commence outside dispute resolution procedures. A nice day to get out. I dont know about some football because we are well past that season, but baseball is coming very soon. Thats right. Well take that. It already is for a lot of little leaguers out there. They had to postpone a lot of games because of rain. They wont have to do that anymore, not for the next several days. We will have sunshine and very spring like weather over the next few days. Now it is cool as you head out the door, its 49 degrees in San Francisco and the peninsula at 48 degrees. The east bay at 39. As we get a closer look at the north bay we do also have some 30s there and napa its 42 degrees, santa rosa and calistoga at 40 degrees. Into the day as we take it hour by hour in san jose dont forget that sevenday forecast at the bottom of the screen it will be cool to start today mostly sun up to 59 degrees at 11 00, a day to take the lunch outside, 62 degrees, into the upper 60s and some spots today will be hitting the low 70s. In the south bay 68 degrees today but 73 tomorrow and 75 degrees on friday to low 70s and once again spring like. In San Francisco we will be in the upper 60s for the next few days and low 70s for the north bay as well as the east bay. The storms will stay north so we will continue on with dry weather all across the bay area. As High Pressure moves in it also gives us northerly wind, the clockwise flow around that area of High Pressure will bring our temperatures into the 60s and 70s, but then we get a change in that pattern as an area of low pressure drops in from the north, it looks like some of those scattered showers will mostly be over the north bay and bringing more snow to the sierra. We will have a slight chance of some rain here as we go into the start of the workweek. Until then it will be dry and highs reaching into the 70s for saturday. That looks to be the best day to get out there. And then on sunday a few more clouds in the mix, our temperatures will be dropping back into the mid 60s and 69 degrees in the north bay. I will have another look at the forecast coming up, but lets see whats happening on the san mateo bridge with mike. We have more traffic flow but we also have a beautiful view. I know, its just the sheen off the water from the lights but to me thats beautiful because the traffic flow and everything is calm across the span. Look at your map. Calm across the bay. Theres the san mateo bridge, dumbarton bridge. Already no major issues as far as traffic flow goes. Overnight road crews block a lane or two which is your usual suspects. Bay bridge no slowing through the maze or north bay, either. The toll plaza, we have the cash lanes backing up a bit but no Major Concerns heading out of the maze and over towards San Francisco. The story is they had dropped off their mom at the airport, she is accounted for but she says she has not been able to reach them. Cell phones going to voicemail, state department has no information and its just not clear if they stayed at the airport to see her off to her gate to watch her get to security in her gate or if they turned around and left. Senator Hillary Clinton and the four other candidates running for the presidency are taking this opportunity, responding to yesterdays attack in brussels to prove their National Security credentials to, demonstrate what they would do to prevent an isis attack if elected commander in chief. There are drastic differences in opinion between the democratic and republican candidates. Ted cruz is demanding Police Patrol and secure neighborhoods of american muslims. Anyone where there is located is of radicalization, an expanding presence of radical islamic terrorism we knee Law Enforcement there. To say you are another religion and you have evil intent is irresponsible. That would be unconstitutional. It would be wrong. I would close up our borders to people until we figure out what is going on. I think there are a lot of things we have to do to intensify our efforts. I think closing our borders is not one of them. Uc leaders expected to vote on a new statement opposing on campus antisemitic behavior. Recent campus activism is stoking tensions between pro israel and pro palestinian right supporters. A committee today is scheduled to vote on what the board calls a statement of principles against intolerance. That declaration would support the Free Exchange of ideas but it would oppose any act of discrimination. As far as the Business Impact of all of this, wall street unfortunately far too used to terror attacks. Youve been monitoring the numbers for us. If you take airlines out of the equation, laura, the stock markets are doing just fine. The nasdaq actually rose the day after the attacks. Dow down slightly ending its seven day winning streak. Airlines and travel sites are lower, Virgin America was down 1. 25 yesterday, airline down 1. 5 , delta down about the same. If tradition holds and it is painful to say tradition when it comes to terror attacks, but if it holds air fares will not fall significantly.
