Were going to get to todays top story, and its that large wildfire racing through parts of oklahoma. The flames are being driven by unseasonably high temperatures and high winds, too. Nbcs jay gray is in guthrie, oklahoma this morning. Just north of oklahoma city. Jay, good morning to you. Reporter good morning, savannah. Were in the staging area right now. Hundreds of firefighters poring through here, grabbing a bite to eat or a nap before they get back on the frontlines. About 1,000 people have been evacuated. About 150 homes are in the immediate danger. Those flames are so big and so hot. Reporter as a wave of fire rushed across the oklahoma plains, this warning from the fire chief in guthrie. Just be mindful. Be ready to go. Reporter one resident did not get out in time, a 56yearold man who died as the flames swallowed his home. In all, at least 20 homes have been damaged or destroyed, 3,000 acres charred and theres fear those numbers could grow. Power is out in some of the areas and its very, very dangerous for our citizens to be in these areas. Reporter concern fueled by severe conditions, temperatures in the 90s, ongoing drought, and strong winds. If the wind will cooperate with us just a little bit, weve got enough resources coming in now, i think weve got a good shot of at least getting a handle on it where we can manage it. Reporter but not without some help and time. Support is pouring in to the area from neighboring communities to help battle the blaze. The most severe of several wildfires currently burning in the state. I can tell you right now well have crews out here off and on the rest of the week. With a fire of this geographic magnitude, well have hot spots burning for several days, smoldering. Reporter right now, fire Officials Say the blaze is 75 contained, but critical fire conditions continue across texas and oklahoma the next couple of days. Savannah. Jay gray in oklahoma. Lets hear more about that from al. The forecast is not helping this situation. It really isnt. What you might consider great weather because its sunny, its warm. The jet stream is way up to the north. High pressure is dominating. So weve got that strong ridge. The jet stream in the upper midwest. So we are going to be looking at winds that are coming out of the southwest. Weve got what we call a dry line and a strong flow of southwesterly winds coming on in. And with that, weve got red flag warnings and fire weather watches from nevada all the way into oklahoma and texas. Heres what we look for for today and tonight. Theres an elevated risk across a wide area, including oklahoma. A critical risk as you get on into flagstaff, arizona, and just to the north of phoenix. But look at tomorrow. Weve got strong winds still continuing, including oklahoma on through the southwest, and look at how wide the elevated risk now is. And the critical area continues from oklahoma all the way into arizona. Low relative humidity, sustained winds up to 30 Miles Per Hour, and temperatures approaching 100. Wichita yesterday got up to its earliest 100degree reading ever this early in the season. Amazing. Just may 5th. Check in with you in a little bit. Meanwhile, a major safety review is underway this morning following a horrifying accident at a circus in rhode island. A group of performers suffered serious injuries after plunging about 30 feet to the ground below. Nbcs ron mott is in providence with the latest. Ron, good morning to you. Reporter good morning. April full scale investigation is underway this morning. Those nine performers who were hurt are all recovering. The most serious injury involved some broken bones. Doctors are trying to get that worked out. This all went down during the sunday matinee. Everything was going according to plan when all of a sudden this rigging collapsed. We should warn folks that the video you are about to see is graphic and may be upsetting to some viewers. What began as a dazzling attraction, revealing what the circus calls a human chandelier, turned terrifying in an instant. As the rigging holding eight female performers by their hair collapsed to the floor. We ask that you please enjoy this intermission at this time while we situate ourselves during this accident. Thank you. Reporter some in the audience briefly thought it was part of the act, but knew something was wrong when First Responders rushed into the ring to help the downed performers, including a ninth person, a male circus performer who was hurt on the ground by the fallen structure. Within the next 24 hours, i believe with the help of osha, the state and local officials will have a good idea of what failed and what needs to be changed for not only this performance but performances going forward. Im going to do a jigsaw puzzle, said my big sister. Reporter this mother of two aletha wood was at sundays ringling brothers barnham and bailey circus with her kids chatham and logan. She caught the accident and the aftermath on her cell phone camera, sitting in stunned silence along with thousands of other families and children, many of whom began to cry, she said. Kids around us started to become visibly distressed and audibly distressed. They started crying and whining. They were very concerned with what was happening in front of them. Reporter officials said the nine performers who were hurt suffered serious and critical injuries, none of them considered lifethreatening. Two shows planned for today will both be canceled. The circus has grounded all of those aerial stunts. In the meantime, last night nbc news spoke to the father of one of the injured performers. He says shes got a badly broken arm, some minor neck and back fractures but is already looking forward to getting back to performing, matt. Ron mott in providence this morning. Ron, thanks very much. Earlier this morning, we talked to stephen payne. He is the spokesperson for Feld Entertainment which is the Parent Company of ringling brothers. Well, right now the best information we have is all the performers have received medical treatment at the hospital in providence and have been resting comfortably. Again, were pleased that though their injuries were serious, none of them appear to be lifethreatening. The thoughts and prayers of everyone with the circus family are with those performers and their families at this time. Mr. Payne, have there been any problems with this act, any of the apparatus involved in this act in the past . Not to my knowledge. Again, all of the material that goes into one of these performances, all of the rigging, our materials we bring with us to every single show, every single city we go to, and its inspected every single time its put up. To my knowledge, weve had no reports of any problems with any of this rigging in the past. Something failed terribly. Do you have an indication at this moment that something simply broke . And what about safety procedures . What about a backup rigging that might have prevented this . Again, weve never had any problems with this particular rigging in the past. Again, all of the safety procedures that we have in place are to make sure that our performers are safe. Not just our performers, but also our crew and all of our patrons. Again, its too early to tell. Were only less than 24 hours into the investigation, but we do hope that were able to find out what happened yesterday so we can take steps to make sure that it never happens again. And investigating not only that piece of apparatus, but will there be a top to bottom safety review for all of the acts in that show . You have the failed pieces of apparatus. We have lights in our studio. They clamp on to bars, but there is a safety cord that goes around the bar as well that is supposed to stop it from falling if the clamp fails. It doesnt appear we have or at that circus, that the safety mechanism worked or if it was attached. It is terrifying. The point is to have the deathdefying acts and create the excitement. There is assumption that safety is there. Imagine kids watching that. None of the injuries appears to be life threatening. We are happy to report. We will go to ukraine and a new wave of violence. Inside, armed men in military uniforms roamed the corridors running this city from behind barricades. In fact, prorussian militia are running, it seems, most of this region, breaking into building after building that represents ukrainian authority. Ransacked. Men wearing helmets and facemasks rampaged through another official building in donetsk. Across eastern ukraine, bullet holes. The scars of battles now engulfing much of the country. Last night this building was stormed by a mob of around 2,000 people. Now it seems to be almost empty. Upstairs we found doors smashed, legal papers thrown around. Ukraine an increasingly lawless place and divided. Antigovernment militia drive tanks through the streets. The former u. S. Ambassador to moscow warns war is looming. But in the south, a progovernment gang marched through the streets of odessa last night. Many now questioning how elections can be held this month. The ukraine has been dismembered. The election of may 25th cannot go forward. Reporter yesterday in odessa, protesters smashed the door of a police station. Around 60 prorussian prisoners were freed, cheered. More than 40 of their number died in a fire in a union building, the hands of an unknown victim imprinted on the wall. The Prime Minister visiting odessa, trying to show leadership. This is the part of russian road map you have to grab and eliminate ukraine. Reporter we havent entirely lost control, he said. As he spoke, a group of their Police Officers threw down their shields and walked away. Ukraine is a country where the rule of law is being replaced by a mob mentality and the west watches, helpless to stop it. It is not war yet here, but it is civil unrest on a massive scale, backed by power militaries. In fact, more and more, it is difficult to describe ukraine as one country. Thank you. Testimony has resumed at the murder trial of Oscar Pistorius after a 17daybreak. Theres some issues facing the defense team. Today National Investigative correspondent jeff rossen is at the courthouse once again. Jeff, good morning to you. H, matt, good morning to you. This is the home stretch now. And the critical moment for Oscar Pistorius. His defense team has the case, trying to battle back. Pistorius himself inside court today, he looks a lot more rested. Sources close to him tell me over that twoweek break, he spent time away from here on his family farm in the african countryside, but now it is back to business in a major way with his freedom on the line. Oscar pistorius greeted by fans outside court today. But inside, it didnt take long, just minutes, to once again put his head in his hands. Just after shooting and killing his model girlfriend reeva steenkamp, an accident, he says, pistoriuss first call was to his friend johan. That friend on the stand today. He said on the call, johan, please, please, please come to my house, please. I shot reeva. I thought she was an intruder. Please, please come quick. Reporter he and his daughter rushed to pistoriuss home. She testified today too and got emotional on the stand. He just kept on, carice, please, can we just put her in the car and get her to the hospital. When he got her to the bottom of the stairs, im like, just put her down so we can see whats wrong. Im sorry, my lady, i apologize. Dont worry. Just take your time. Reporter here comes Oscar Pistorius right now. We are getting word of new drama behind the scenes. Are there problems within the Oscar Pistorius defense team . Their star pathologist who pistorius himself recruited just days after the shooting, whos been on the team for more than a year, suddenly wont testify. Thats him. Reggie perumal, hired by Team Pistorius so early on, he even attended reevas autopsy, but well never hear his findings. People are saying its fishy that he suddenly pulled out. Theres all kinds of speculation that his results didnt line up with what the defense wanted and they had to get somebody else to replace him. Reporter the defense say perumal isnt testifying because of availability problems, telling nbc news, he remains on the team as a consultant. What do you make of that . It does seem strange. Hes been involved with the matter since the beginning. You can equate it to the soccer world cup. Hes been training with the team and now when he needs to play, hes not playing. Reporter how damaging is that to pistorius . From a p. R. Perspective, it can be damaging, but from a law perspective, its not. You cant hold it against him that hes not testifying. Reporter after the trial is over, which will be another couple of weeks, under the law the judge actually has months to reach a verdict, but the court clerk now tells nbc news the judge doesnt need that time. Shes already started working on her judgment and will come to a verdict within days of the trial being over. So read into that as you will, guys. Jeff rossen in pretoria this morning. Jeff, thanks so much. Lets turn to natalie. Youve got new details on the search for Malaysia Flight 370. Thats right. The search entering a new and even more difficult stage. Senior officials from australia, china, and malaysia met today to decide the next step. Nbcs tom costello is in washington this morning with more. 53 days now since this plane disappeared. Still not a trace of the boeing 777 or the 239 people onboard. Now malaysian and Australian Authorities say theyll be reexamining all of the data that they have on the possible location of the plane, and turning to more sophisticated underwater equipment from private companies for a more thorough search of 24,000 square miles of unmapped ocean floor. The navys unmanned submarine, bluefin21, has already scanned hundreds of square miles of ocean floor without spotting anything. That sub will continue its work while private companies with deep water subs are contacted about assisting in the search. Those subs would be tethered to the ships above, providing realtime data. But it could take two months to get the new sub into position and cost as much as 60 million. Natalie . And tom, meanwhile, theres an Emergency Landing overnight involving a u. S. Airways flight. What can you tell us about that . This was u. S. Airways flight 735, carrying 275 people. It had just left philly for orlando about 4 00 when at 17,000 feet, it encountered severe turbulence. People reported being thrown about the cabin. Three passengers and two Flight Attendants were taken to area hospitals with injuries. The plane did eventually depart again for philly, landing at about 11 00 or so last night. Tom costello, thanks for that reporting. Meanwhile in california, a pilot was killed last night when a vintage biplane crashed. This happened at Travis Air Force base. 77yearold eddie andrane was killed on the stunt. Organizers cancelled the show shortly after the crash. No word on what caused that plane to go down. More fallout from the target security breach. Gregg stenhaffel is leaving. Were going to begin this halfhour with an nbc news exclusive. It was one year ago tomorrow that three women escaped from the cleveland home of ariel castro. One of them, Michelle Knight, is now releasing a memoir called finding me. Were going to talk to michelle in just a moment. But first, knights ten years, eight months, and 14 days of captivity. Eight months, and 14 days of captivity. Vibrant butterfly full of life. Every time i see one, it reminds me how precious life can truly be. Michelle knight was just 21 years old when she was kidnapped in a cleveland neighborhood by ariel castro. What followed was more than a decade of unthinkable abuse. You must have felt so much rage. There was anger at points at times, yes. Theres also suicidal attempts. Yeah. Because you get to a point where you feel like its hopeless. Castro later kidnapped two other women, amanda berry and gina dejesus. Knight says she and gina often dreamed of their escape. There was times where me and gina just wanted to hit him over the head with a frying pan. And just run out the door. But we wasnt a hurtful person, we couldnt do it. So we was like we got to find some other way. On the evening of may 6th, 2013, berry and the 6yearold daughter she had while in captivity broke free. Ive been kidnapped and ive been missing for ten years, and im here, im free now. Castro was arrested and pled guilty to nearly a thousand criminal counts. He was sentenced to life in prison. But just one month into that sentence, castro was found hanging inside his prison cell. Now knight is starting a new chapter, rebuilding her life and telling her story in her own words. And Michelle Knight joins us now. We should mention, we mentioned on friday that youve changed your name to lily. But for the purposes of this interview, well call you michelle, thats what youd like us to do and thats how the world really knows you. So good morning to you, michelle. Good morning to you. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the day you escaped and your life changed so much for the better in that single moment. How do you feel as this big anniversary approaches . Its just a day that i wish would go past, and i can live my life. Youve had your freedom now for a year. Is it still hard to get used to sometimes . Sometimes, yeah. You still kind of pinching yourself that things have gotten so much better . Oh yeah. Always. Its so wonderful to see you smile, and i think the more people know about your story, the more amazing they think it is that you can smile. You decided to tell the story and write the book, and that meant reliving some really hard moments. Whats been hardest for you in that whole process . Actually telling the story and getting it out. Because reliving se ing it is t hardest part to do. You still fight those thoughts that come back, those memories . Yeah. Yeah. One of the things we talked about is youre free now. But being free in your mind is a different thing. Do you feel more free in your mind . Yes. Every day. Every day, i feel so much more freer. Im able to do everything and everything i always wanted to do. One thing i know a lot of people wonder is what your relationship is with the other girls. They were part of your life for a long time. And i know you care so much about them. People wonder if you still talk to them, if youve drifted apart, and how things are, how do you feel about that . Right now, were all healing in our own way. Sometimes relationships, including friendships, dont last that long. We were just in each others life for a short amount of time. And maybe, just maybe one day well get back together. Would you like that to happen . Yeah. It seems strange to think of it, but im sure in some ways, you miss them. Yeah. One of the things i was really blown away by when we talked before was you told me that youre able to forgive ariel castro. Yes, i am. How is that possible . Some people look at everything that happened and they think, i couldnt do that if i were in the same position. Well, if i did something wrong, even if it was a small thing, i would want somebody to forgive me. So i can forgive him for what he done wrong. Because thats way of life. When you first found out that he had died in prison, what was your first reaction . I was saddened about it, but also confused at the same time. Like, why would he hurt his children like that . Why would he leave them . You were saddened by it . You really were . Why is that . Because hes a human being, and every human being needs to be loved, even though they did something wrong. One thing i think is amazing about you is even in that darkest place, you kept your faith. I know it wasnt always easy. No, it wasnt. You prayed, and im sure for a long time you felt those answers wouldnt come. How were you able to keep your faith and why did you . The love of my son helped me keep the faith that i had. Your son joey, hes 13 now, right . 14. 14 years old. And he has been adopted in this time that you were missing and no one knew where you were. The adoptive family has sent you pictures, but theyve decided hes too young to know everything thats happened. Yes. Has that been hard for you . Yes, it has, but im glad they have him, and hes doing really well. And im very proud of him for all the accomplishments that he has achieved. Do you hope youll get to see him again one day . Yes. Yeah. So tell me about your life now. What is the best part of having your own apartment and living freely . Being able to wake up in the morning, make a cup of coffee, and sit there, watch tv, listen to music, and just look at the beautiful sky. What would you want people to know about you and your new life and how youre doing now . I would want everybody to know im doing just fine and everything is really exciting right now. Im doing singing, im also training to be a boxer. And i just recorded my first song. And its just awesome. Its awesome life right now. Well, i cant think of anyone who deserves it more. Tomorrow marks one year since three women and a child were rescued from captivity inside a house in cleveland. Its scary at first because you dont want to be the person in the scene whos slowing it down, but what you quickly realize is that when youre working with a comic genius like seth, no matter how stupid of a joke you attempt, hes going to take that dumb joke and turn it into gold and make you seem a lot funnier than you naturally are. Do you rehearse a lot for things like this . Forget the script. Do you go through things in advance and try to come up with different scenarios that you can just react to . First, we have a great script to go off thats fantastic. We dont make light of the writers. My bad. So thats a safety net that we always have to fall back on. I think whats brilliant about seth is sort of this new kind of breed of comedy that hes pioneered. Its really honest, its selfafacing, its cool. But i think our generation identifies with it in a very real way. I dont think you ever want to overprepare for any of these scenes because ultimately, its just all going to go haywire and you have to basically just be in the moment and listen to the person in front of you. I appreciate you pointing at each other and saying your generation. I got the obvious reference there. My bad. You gave an honest interview recently, hollywood reporter. You talked about battling addictions and substance abuse. Hard to come out and say those things . You know what, actually, it was a weight off my chest, i think. It was great. You know, it was a fantastic time. It was a rough year. Its kind of funny. Neighbors is such a great sort of icing on the cake for all this. I was able to kind of channel all of that and put it back into this movie. And i feel great, i feel really blessed to be here working with this group of guys. This is a movie that inspired spielberg to launch what he calls his greatest project yet. Nbc special anchor Maria Shriver sat down with the legendary director exclusively. Maria, good morning to you. Good morning, matt. Well, from e. T. To jaws to schindlers list, Steven Spielberg has forever changed our culture with his films. Now he wants to change the way we see the world by telling true stories of genocide survivors. Hes created a stunning visual archive to educate students so that what happened in the holocaust never happens again. This is something that i was put on this earth to do. Not just make movies, but to tell this truth to people, especially to young people. It was while making his epic holocaust film schindlers list that Steven Spielberg says he found his true calling, sharing the stories of real life genocide survivors and teaching the world about the dangers of hate. These survivors have become teachers. And they have a contribution to make to the world. With proceeds from the film, spielberg created the Shoah Foundation and launched an unprecedented project, 20 years in the making, videotaping interviews with 52,000 survivors of the holocaust. You could just hear, you know, the smashing of the glass. And genocides in rwanda. I could hear the screaming. People being beaten and killed. They could have been me if i had been born at a different time, at a different place, and this could happen again. Now hes helping students embrace to teach kids the values of acceptance and empathy. Absolutely makes you more sensitive. People are punished for being a certain type of person, a certain religion, a certain a ethnicity. This is inspiring students, not only to listen to the past, but to act for their own future. Describe what you remember . Fear. Smell. Their testimonies from survivors like salina beniaz. At 13 years old, she sent to auschwitz, then saved from the ovens as the youngest girl on schindlers list. Oscar schindler saved my life, so he gave me life. But Steven Spielberg gave me a voice, so in a way, shes my second schindler. She calls you her second schindler. Thats beautiful. Ill accept that. I feel like i have 52,000 grandparents that i never knew i had. And i think, you know, ive adopted them and when we meet in person, they adopt me. Spielberg adopted inspiration from his own childhood as well. What happened to you . Just bullying. Just people saying things under their breath. You know, shoving and pushing and antisemitic word or sentence to go with it. You know, it was just an awareness that i was different than everybody else. We have to make the choice. Are we bystanders or do we act . Eyewitnesss already in schools at all 50 states as well as the ukraine and rwanda. Is really there a goal in there for you to create social activists, not just have them become more tolerant and perhaps more empathetic and better listeners, but to actually do something . Yes, exactly. Stop bigotry. Stop bullying. Be an active leader through history in stopping any other genocide from ever happening again. Spielberg says his mission will truly be a success once tolerance education is mandated in every high school in this country. His archive of testimonials is also being studied by researchers at institutions all over the world, and their goal is stopping future genocides before they happen. And its really quite impressive. One person dies from melanoma every hour. It can affect all races, all skin types. Early detection is so important. Absolutely. If you detect it before it spreads, you have a 98 chance of cure. All right. Mole checks. Ive gotten them on a couple of occasions with the help of savannah. I was like i didnt check your mole. Weve got some audience members with mirrors. What are we looking for . So were looking for moles that are asymmetrical. Moles that have irregular borders. Colors that are irregular. Diameter bigger than the size of a pencil eraser. Anything thats changing or evolving. Moles that dont go away. Growths that hurt or a scab or crust or bleed. All right, technology mirrors obviously are helpful. If you come out of the shower, take a look at your own body. Technology can also help. Technology, you can take a photograph of your mole if youd like to. Really what you need to do is get undressed, down to your birthday suit, stand in front of a mirror. All right, everybody, go ahead. Whoo you want to start at the scalp and look at your scalp, make sure theres no funny moles or growths. You want to use a mirror really close. Look at your face with no makeup on. Then scroll down to your neck. You want to look at your arms and your legs. You want to use a mirror to look at the abdomen and the chest. You want to hold up your arms. Look under your arms. Thats interesting you say that, because a lot of people think the sun doesnt get in there. You need to look everywhere. You want to look between your toes. You want to turn around, use your hand mirror, look at the back of your neck. You want to use the mirror to look at the back of your ears. By the way, this is not a bad thing to do with a partner. Help each other out. Absolutely. Its a great date night activity. Maybe at your house. Your partner can help you see areas that you cant see. And then they can take a photograph and you can follow along, so if your mole starts to change, you have a reference. If you see a change, you need to see a doctor, you want to see a dermatologist to make sure that theres nothing going on there that youve missed. Again, take a photo, call your doctor. Michelle, of course, was 21 years old when she was captured by ariel castro in a cleveland neighborhood. She and two other women, amanda berry and gina dejesus, were held captive for more than a decade. Michelle had some very powerful words about forgiveness and moving on with her life when she talked to savannah. One of the things i was really blown away by when we talked before was you told me that youre able to forgive ariel castro. Yes, i am. How is that possible . Some people look at everything that happened and they think i couldnt do that if i were in the same position. Well, if i did something wrong, even if it was a small thing, i would want somebody to forgive me. So i can forgive him for what he done wrong. Because thats the way of life. When you first found out that he had died in prison, what was your firstreaction . I was saddened about it, but also confused at the same time. Like, why would he hurt his children like that . Why would he leave them . You were saddened by it . You really were . Why is that . Because he was a human being. And every human being needs to be loved, even though they did something wrong. What is the best part of having your own apartment and living freely . Being able to wake up in the morning, make a cup of coffee, and sit there, watch tv, listen to music, and just look at the beautiful sky. You listen to her talk about castro, thats a grace im not sure any of us or anyone else would be capable of something. Shes an incredible, incredible woman. Especially given all she had been through and all those women had been through. Tomorrow marks the year when they were freed from that home. Just incredible. The more you hear about it, the more you want the know what really happened. And you hear when she says being able to get up and make a cup of coffee. Things we all take for granted. Look at the sky. Really amazing. She said hes a human being, despite the fact he treated her like less than that, obviously. But shes amazing. And shes so inspiring. When she walked into the studio, just the energy from her, it takes your breath away, knowing what shes been through and where she is now, a year later. Its incredible. Its amazing. Positive and uplifting. They talk with such poise about something, so horrifying. Her new book finding me details her ordeal and how she has moved forward. Definitely worth a read. We are just getting some frightening video that weve seen earlier today, a frightening circus accident in providence, rhode island. It left nine performers with serious and critical injuries when they plunged to the ground from about 35 feet. Officials say the injuries, though, were not lifethreatening, though some still in serious, even critical condition. The acrobats were performing what they call a human chandelier, literally hanging like a chandelier from their hair during a ringling brothers Barnum Bailey circus show. Before we show you the video, we should point out it can be hard to watch. Take a look. As you see there, that rigging holding the eight female performers by their hair just collapses to the ground. Now some of the audience briefly thought that this was part of the act, but they knew something was wrong when the First Responders and all the crew from ringling brothers rushed to the scene there. A ninth person, a male performer, was also hurt by that structure falling to the ground, and we do have a statement this morning from Feld Entertainment, the company that owns the circus. They say, all the performers in the act received immediate medical attention and were transported to a local hospital for further care. The 11 00 a. M. Performance was stopped at that time. An investigation has begun into the cause of the accident. Earlier today, a spokesman did say the show will go on as planned perhaps later today. This afternoon they have a show. And then but no aerial acts. Right. And theyre going to resume in hartford back to schedule. But you wonder for all the parents who had kids in that audience. Oh, my gosh. Every time you go to a circus and you watch that, thats always in the back of your mind. I was just about to say that. Whats going to happen and what would happen if the worst did . And now we see. They do these acts without any backup or no net. So even though you assume that theyve checked the rigging and theyve checked that all the equipment is safe and up to standard, that stuff travels quite a bit. And it gets moved around, broken down. So you never know what could go wrong. Even the Cirque Du Soleil show. They had the accident last year. The woman fell. And today dont have the same burden of moving from city to city like the circus in this case. But its just dangerous. Its incredible. This seems particularly dangerous. I dont know much about the act. But hanging from your hair on a rope. Yeah. I love this next one. Yeah, so this is something we were talking about earlier today. Its a common issue. In fact, i was flying this weekend. One of those things, youre in the middle seat and you wonder, what are you supposed to do . With your arms . The armrest. Youre in the middle seat. Who owns the armrest . Whats the rule . Before you answer that question, theres someone whos found a solution perhaps to this. So its a hong kong company. Its called the paper clip armrest. Theyve invented this double deck geometry gadget. It creates a vertical space. So if someone goes on top, someone goes on the bottom. So that means youre not touching my arm. But you are touching. Well, you know, but its not like this. Its not on top. Youre not, like, on top of the person. Like this. If youve got bare arms, theres still that touching going on. So better than this invention that apparently wont be solved here. The rule, what do you think the rule is . If youre in the middle seat, do you get an armrest, both armrests . You get one. Under over, right . You get one. With the right, how do you decide which one you get . I dont know. The rule is, according to the wall street journal, and i apparently was the only one who knew this rule, the middle seat, you get both armrests. Why . Because youre stuck in the middle. So they talked to a number of experts, and this is basically what they said. One expert said that if youre in the middle, both armrests are not necessarily yours. Thats one person. But the majority you dont even count. Hes the outlier. The majority of travel experts said that you, in fact, do get the middle seat. Ive got it for those that dont believe me. Proof. Does a Flight Attendant flip a coin . No. Maybe they should make a rule and put it on the seat. You load this on your ipad or iphone and you go, can you read . Here. I think they need to put it on the back of the seat. Like the taxicabs. You know the rules when you come in. Delta airlines has those hilarious videos before the flight, the safety videos. They should add that in there. By the way, the middle seat gets both armrests. Is there Nothing Better than when you get on a plane and theres nobody next to you . Its sensational. Its like yes thank you. And ill have his peanuts, too. [ laughter ] all right . And since youre only pouring out half a can, let me have his half. What do you do when you sit next to the person that starts to tell you their life story . Headphones. I struggle with that. I had somebody actually stop and go like that. I did the double. But yeah, you know, theyre actually growing closer through divorce because now without the labor of their marriage, theyre actually communicating more as parents, so its actually a family becoming closer. Through divorce, she wants to go have a second adolescence because she never felt like she found herself. So shes doing that much to the annoyance of her 16yearold daughter, who wants a mother, and her mothers acting like a teenager. And my characters really fun to play. Shes a woman that misses social cues. Really wellintended, very loving mother, but misses social cues and wants to be accepted by the college crowd. Interesting to hear you talk about playing this comedy. Youve succeeded in comedy, but you said this was a totally different process. A lot of times in comedy, youre doing funny reactions. Six episodes in, d. J. Nash came up to me and gave me a note and said youre more perceptive than this character. Youre reacting because youre seeing something. She would not see this. It would blow right past her. So dont react. And i found a whole new angle into the comedy with like no reacting. Is that harder or easier . The whole audience is in on it. And shes just like, huh . It took a minute because im so used to reacting. But once i found it, it actually is what hooked me into the character. So youve got now we like to do this with our guests. So my chicken, when i boiled it, i just shredded it. And im adding cheese. You dont have to add salt because cojita cheese is high in salt, but made with skim milk, so you want to add that. Stir it up. You guys have made queso blanco. Or mexican cheese. You can improvise. A recipe is just a footprint for how you want to be able to do something. Youre frying those. Im going to be cooking the tortilla for about ten seconds until its nice and soft. We want to drain all the extra oil. Were going to take some chicken. Ill let you do this. And pour it here. Put the chicken with the cheese in there. Were going to roll it up. Maybe put too much in there . Theres no such thing. Then you pop it in there. And then after that you sprinkle with more cheese. The protest in morgan hill has concluded peacefully. Extra police were on hand at that south Bay High School this morning, making sure protesters did not get out of hand. Dozens of people carried American Flags, very peaceful protest at Live Oaks High School in morgan hill. Crews had installed a large fence around the school to shield the students from those rallies. All of this stems from an incident back in campus 2010, a small group of students wore American Flag tshirts on sicin de mayo four years ago. They were sent home for wearing those tshirts. Not only him, some of the most the children of some of the most important people in the world. How are you going to rescue these kids . Youre in on the rescue. I am in on the rescue, but for a very long time i was quite convinced that my character was in cahoots with dermots character. I thought that i would potentially be able, but im not. Im on the side of good along with lance. Yeah, its our job to try and rescue these very valuable kidnapped schoolchildren. But things get more complicated as the series unfolds. It is going to get more complicated. Its going to get more complicated. Everybody has their own personal reasons brought in. Through their characters. But in this part of the show youre talking about becomes a great chase. Like the fugitive or one of those movies where the good guys are trying to track down the bad guys. And youre a little wounded bird. I see a wounded bird playing with all his fancy gajtsdgets. And i feel for this guy. Hes evil but underneath it all, hes heisenberg.
