All theyre doing is putting ban dads on the pipes that are busting here. Reporter but theyre suffering from led poisoning. Biologists captured the sick birds in big sir earlier this month and brought them to zoo. When you have a population of only 200 in the wild, its a big deal. Reporter andrea goodnite and her team have been injecting them with a chemical. It pulls the led out of the body. Reporter one of the birds regurjitated these pieces of toxic metal the other day. They say the skav chger birds likely ingested bullet fragments from their pray. Theyre out in the wild and these birds are great at finding them. They eat them and ingest the led that way. Reporter the intensive treatment includes injections, bloodwork and x raies. Every step critical to help them purge the led before it does irreversible damage. Basically the bird starves to death or it starts having seizures.
