A 5. 0 magnitude earthquake shook the geysers, the large gio thermal field. No reports of damage or injuries from the wake. Its a seismically active area but todays was bigger than the usual jolt. Jeff ranieri is back with us. We are talking about the storm rolling in. Itsing about to hit the north bay first. It is. And then its going to be hitting everyone, even down in the south bay, which sometimes gets left out with our storm systems in every single forecast model shows this wet weather for tomorrow. So lets get a look at the microclimate weather and right now what i want off with is how much of california currently is under some sort of flood watch and warning. It goes from Northern California all the way down toward los angeles. So the entire state, if youre planning on some sort of road trip tomorrow, is expected to get wet weather. You may want to look at the traveling plan twice, because we know how dangerous these california roads get as they get wet. Look at this sub tropical stream of moisture, thats whats really boosting up our storm system to bring this heavier rain. Our biggest concern will be the santa cruz mountains, especially where the loma fire burned. We could see anywhere from 2 to 3 inches, maybe isolated amounts higher than that, so that could produce some mud and also rock slides. Tomorrow mornings forecast does have rainfall returning. A few spotty showers for the south bay and 49. And also for the peninsula, 47. The best chance of heavier pockets of rain will be in San Francisco, and also the north bay as temperatures will be in the 40s. So lets get to that rain and the time li line. Tomorrow morning, 6 00 a. M. , some heavier pockets rolling into marin, napa and sonoma counties. What you want to know is from 6 00 to 10 00 in the mornings its all about the north bay. You see these orange and yellow areas, the heavier intensity of remain pushing across. By the afternoon, our best guess right now is the east bay will start to fill in with some rainfall at about 2 30. The peninsula and the south bay. San jose, the way that, again, every single forecast model shows it, we should be locked in for some heavier pockets of rain by the Late Afternoon and early evening. And then the storm system eventually pushes out by 10 00 at night. What about rainfall totals . We have seen it go up a little bit from our earlier thinking. All in all, i think were locked in for three quarters of an inch to one and a quarter inches bay area wide. Notice the areas in purple and also red. Thats where we could see totals 1 to 3 inches in the north bay, and also right here across the santa cruz mountains. What about river flooding . The one area im zoning in for is the Russian River near guerneville. Not flood stage but close to action stage. Folks in guerneville are used to the large riverlevel rises. But watch the creeks and streams behind your house. We dry out friday, saturday and sunday. And what i want to point out is by friday morning, lows down in the 30s. We get over the rain tomorrow and then it gets icy cold for us. Freezing. Yeah. And chilly and wet. Thanks, jeff. Up next, alaska and peninsula based Virgin America officially merging.
