I have to tell you in spite of whats happened in dallas, there is a sense of festivity here, there are people having a very good time. But there is no doubt that the tenor of this event changed. Its a lot is at stake for these young women, their careers, also whats going to happen with team usa, but the tenor has changed because some of these young ladies are from texas including simone and one of the competitors, madison, is actually from dallas. We talked to team usa and they told us that they are trying to insulate the girls, today is about focus, trying to keep them away from the news because of whats going to happen this evening. But theres no doubt that this is ringing with them. Usa gymnastics ceo says that what he wants to happen from this is much like baseball did after 9 11 he hopes that this event will also galvanize the nation and show that sports unites us all because its about the human spirit and about sports. Well, probably taking the top spot on that team will be simone biles. She is just little tiny thing, only 49, but she is airbound in everything shes done. Shes won three consecutive gold medal championships and she is probably considered even Mary Lou Retton said probably the best gymnast that lived. Despite that, that girl has to do chores at home. Im still normal im simone, i have to wash the dishes and do chores around the house. They always say yes in the gymnastics world you accomplished this but i have a normal life outside of gymnastics. Yep, she has to do chores. Her routines are really difficult, very technically difficult and she does this thing called the biles which is her signature floor routine. Well look for that on these olympic trials. The other fan fav is gabby douglas, defending her individual all around gold. You remember gabby, she was a surprise Gold Medalist at the london games. As of late she struggled. A lot changed. She is a lot older, she is 20 which is older for gymnastics action has grown 3 inches and had a reality show. So she struggled a little but is the comeback queen so expect good things. Its 50 years since a female gymnast won backtoback individual all around gold. Also, people to look for olympic medalist aly raceman. She went there in 2012. There are two names people are talking about, there is lori hernandez, if she makes the team would be the first latina to make an olympic gymnastic team.
